Anybody ever been there? Know anything about it?
I guess not.
david.. where is it? i would be 99% sure there is no such place called la dorado. there may be an el dorado, however, i could not find anything on it. if there is in fact an "el dorado" let us know what region of colombia... but i've never heard of it nor does any city come up when you google it. it is the name of the airport in bogota though.
other than that the only thing i even found on it were references to myths. perhaps there is an el dorado in venezuela as the myth below states, but nothing on colombia... see below.
el dorado is applied to a mythical country in which gold and precious stones were found in fabulous abundance. the concept of el dorado suffered several transformations, and eventually accounts of the previous myth were also combined with those of the legendary city. the resulting el dorado enticed european explorers for two centuries. it was never found.
the most famous journey in search for el dorado was undertaken by francisco de orellana and gonzalo pizarro (1541), who passed down the rio napo to the valley of the amazon all the way to its delta.
other expeditions include that of philipp von hutten (1541–1545), who led an exploring party from coro on the coast of venezuela; and of gonzalo jiménez de quesada, the governor of el dorado, who started from bogotá (1569).
sir walter raleigh, who resumed the search in 1595, described el dorado as a city on lake parima far up the orinoco in guiana (today in venezuela). this city on the lake was marked on english and other maps until its existence was disproved by alexander von humboldt (1769–1859). (see parima-tapirapecó).
among the most interesting stories was the one told by diego de ordaz's lieutenant martinez, who claimed to have been rescued from shipwreck, conveyed inland, and entertained at omoa by "el dorado" himself (1531);

Yeah, there is such a place. Stay the fuck away. Deep inside FARC land in the interior, and very hot there (weather-wise).
I have a longtime friend from Manizales who works in La Dorado as a teacher. It's a 4 hour shared taxi ride away from there. She's fine, you won't be.

That´s the one, in Caldos. I have a friend in Ibague whose family is from there and she wants to take me there for a visit and fix me up with some cuties. Is the present FARC situation problematic there?

Kukulkan[/QUOTE]That's interesting. It looks like La Dorada is just north of Honda, which is close to halfway between Bogota and Manizales, where another road breaks north but eventually ends up in Medellin. I would not have guessed that FARC would be strong at such a seemingly significant point on the map. I would have thought I could drive from Bogota to Medellin or Manizalles without much risk.
Anyway, reading some of these posts, I'll think twice about doing that sort of thing anytime soon.
I had a fantastic girl from Honda a couple of years back. Fantastic hard body, with an excellent chest. Julie. But I met her in Bogota.

Happy Hunting

Hey bro:
After reading this post I had to ask my chick in Medellin about this town that your speaking of. She has lived in Medellin her whole life. Although I have been to Medellin 37 times and have an Apartment there I DO NOT claim to be an Expert like others on this board.
BOTTOM line is that once I asked her about this puebla your speaking of she was VERY concerned why I was asking about it! She said even herself is scared when she goes there!
I told her I read about you and that there was a girl you knew that wanted you to come there! My chick was VERY concerned about this "girl" and WHY she wanted you to come way out there!!! She asked me , How long you knew her? I said I didnt know, She implied that this girl either is Naive as SHIT or is working with the Farc or Paramilitary to get you to go their to kidnap you!! An American head fetches about $5000.00 and they sell you to the Farc or Para and then they try to sell you back to your family etc for 25K+!!!!
PLEASE from one American to another! DO NOT GO THERE!!!! AND QUESTION THE RELATIONSHIP YOU HAVE WITH THIS "CHICK " YOU KNOW!! Scheesh even my chick was scared for you!!!

Looks like you´re right. I sent her a mail saying that I had been advised not to go there and that she could import the cuties to Ibague...I´d pay. Haven´t heard from her since. Shows the value of this forum...not just for finding pussy. I´ll stick to Med and Cali.
Hey Kickboxer,
I've corresponded with a very cute chica from Cucuta. I'm looking for threads on past expeditions to this border town. Strictly, for the info and curiosity. The chica hasn't asked me to visit but I feel like she is still trying to set the hook. I'm playing along, right now, because it's such a kick to watch it unfold. Plus the fantasy factor of adventuring into this jungle country is way too cool. These women are as dangerous as they are beautiful. Lucky for me, it's hard to play a player. I salute you for your empathy towards our brotherhood.

Here are a couple of links I came across and remembered the dialogue here about El Dorado. It refers to a farc incident/killing that happened a week or two ago in the town.

David33 was asking about La Dorada in Caldas state. El Dorado is a different place, apparently in the south of Colombia somewhere.
By the way, the lady that I know who used to teach in La Dorada, happily relocated back to Manizales, having gotten a job at one of the universities there. She used to tell me of her journeys there and back, the FARC roadblocks, the military roadblocks, the people who'd come into town, etc.... Enough things to let me know, she wasn't bs-ing when she said she needed to leave. We meet only in Manizales or Bogota.
She's 100% Colombian, born and raised. Imagine a gringo going there.
