Planning trip to Lake Calima, looking for information
Gentlemen, please share your thoughts on the following:
There's a place called lake Calima, a 2 hour drive north of Cali. It's a touristy area where a lot of Colombians seem to go on weekends with family. I met a girl who's now inviting me to visit her in her hometown, not far from lake Calima. So her village is not directly at the lake Calima, but a bit more to the north.
I have never been to Colombia, and before I go with my friends in 2016, I'm thinking about doing a short trip to the outskirts of Cali and see this girl. Looked into renting a finca for us, and prices are nice, especially with the weak peso at the moment. However, I have no idea of the current security situation in that area, actually Colombia as a country is still one big question mark for me.
If I go I'll go light and leave the address where I'm going and my travel itinerary at a friend's house, just in case something happens to me or I don't come back at all. At least there will be some information of where I went. Can't tell my parents where I'm going. The place also doesn't have internet so I suspect it'll be a challenge to contact anyone. Now you may be thinking "Is pussy worth all this" hehe, my answer to that would be "No, it's not". But I'll also be exploring the area, I like nature and love a good hike. So in a sense it's a relaxing / activity vacation in the hills, combined with good company. I'm an adventurer but that doesn't mean I'm irresponsible in my actions, so I'm trying to assess the risk (if any) and maybe some of you who know the Calima area can tell me a bit about it. General thoughts on this trip are also welcome from people who have been to Cali / Colombia or live there.
Thanks in advance.
Pereira. Trip Report. July 2016
Hello fellas,
I just returned from a short trip to Pereira, Colombia. I want to thank Piano Player, Gonefishin, and World Travel for their reports and information.
Pereira has a population of 500,000 people. It is located between Manizales (400,000) and Armenia (300,000). Both Manizales and Armenia are about 90 minutes away by car. Also, Pereira is located between the major cities of Medellin, Cali, and Bogota and all 3 of these cities are located many hours away. Although Pereira is located between these 3 major cities, it clearly has the feeling of Medellin. There is even a saying that Pereira is a small (chiquito) Medellin. The looks of the people are clearly similar to the looks of the Paisas in Medellin as well.
I stayed the Apartahotel San Juan del Lago. Cra. 7 a. No. 25-34. The hotel is perfectly located in El Centro near the corner of Parque Lago and the location is easy to find. The hotel has between 15-20 rooms located on 3 floors. The one negative is that upon entering one must carry their luggage up about 25 stairs to the main floor. The property manager is Liliana Restrepo and she lives onsite. The online rate was between 100 k - 120 k per night but when I called directly (to inquire about the chica fee) I was quoted 80 k with no deposit required. The chica fee was 25 k. There weren't many hotel options in Pereira and the nicer hotels charged a minimum of a 70 k chica fee or more. BTW all of the rooms have different layouts so ask which rooms are available upon arrival and compare a few. I would stay at this hotel if I were to visit Pereira again.
I took the bus to Pereira from Medellin. 41 k. Online it said 4.5 hours with a 20 minute stop for food. In the bus station, they said 5-6 hours. Bus driver said more or less 6 hours. 6 hours and 20 minutes later I arrived.
I returned by plane from Pereira using EasyFly Airlines. Two prop engines and 26 minutes from takeoff to landing in Medellin. I attempted to purchase my ticket online using my credit card the night before doing a day trip to Manizales. Their system was not allowing international credit cards. The next morning I was forced to take a taxi to the airport to buy my ticket and the price had changed from 140 k to 190 k. The time and hassle of doing this cost me a planned day trip to Manizales. I would recommend the plane versus the bus. I would recommend the bus from Medellin to Guatape (2 hours) or Jardin (3 hours) but with the bus ride being over 6 hours was the difference making the plane a better option.
The majority of the PFP in Pereira is located in the center of the city.
Whiskeria Dona Tere / Rosquillas Calenas. Carrera 6 #24-45. Place opens at noon and very few if any girls are here at this time. After 4 pm until late in the night this place has a bunch of women 15++. This was the most popular place I saw. There are at least twice as many guys as girls at any given time which is not a good thing and the place is overly crowded relative to space. Room rate is 12 k per 1/2 hour. Girls want 50 k per 1/2 hour. Multa / exit fee only 20 k. BTW the locals know this place as Rosquillas Calenas NOT Whiskeria Dona Tera.
La Mansion de David. Cra. 8 no. 28-77. Ph 310 383 1066. Hours 10 a - 10 p. This was the best place IMHO. About 5-10 girls before 4 pm and about 10-20 after 4 pm. 40 k 15 min, 60 k 1/2 hour, 100 k 1 hour. All prices include the room. This place was an MP with a bar located at the entrance whereas Rosquillas Calenas felt like a freelance bar with rooms in the back.
Spa Zona Madrid. Calle 27 #5-01 ph 326 6567. Hours 10 am - 8 pm. If you are looking for some tits and ass (with some plastic as well) this is the place. Almost every girl had tits and ass with no spinners. This place felt like Abydos in Medellin. 70 k 1/2 HR, 90 k 40 minutes, 140 k 1 hour.
Flores Frescas. Calle 26 # 6-15/6-34.5 k entrance fee. 10 k beers. 150 k 1/2 hour! Ouch! I never saw the lineup. This is a high end place.
Star Club. Carrera 13 #19-48. Strip Club. I never made it to this place. Prices similar to Flores Frescas. This is the other high end place.
Casa la Abuela. Cll. 31 and. 8 b- 25. Ph 326 6136. Hours 2 p - 10 p. Room rate is 12 k per 1/2 hour. Girls wanted 50 k 1/2 hour. This place was the lowest end of the places I went.
I had 3 sex sessions while in Pereira.
The first session was at Rosquillas Calenas. I had a one hour session with one girl. After the session, a friend of this girl popped in the door at the hour. While taking a shower they encouraged me to do a 3-some with them for 30 more minutes and it was great. This was a spontaneous, pleasant surprise.
The second session was at Casa de Abuela. Good BBBJ followed by average sex. Overall an average session at best.
The third session was at La Mansion de David. This girl was horny and the session was exhilarating. When I caught eyes with this girl I knew she liked me. She really did! Maybe it was my look? Maybe it was my attitude? Maybe she was just in a good mood? I don't know but I will take it! BB everything including anal in a few positions. Never a mention of a tip or anything. I gave her 50 k and she had a look of surprise and gratefulness. This is how things should be! Of course, this session was on my last day or I would have repeated the following day. I took her number in case I got delayed in Pereira but the next day off I went back to Medellin.
The girl from the 3-some told me she knew a low mileage spinner who she could set me up with. She called me the next day and the girl arrived quickly for a date. The problem was this girl was not hot, thin, or new. She was definitely fuckable but not enough horny in her eyes. We met one block from my hotel. After a beer at the bar we headed back to my place to see if smoking some pot would change the mood. It didn't. We were in the room maybe 20 minutes and I told her I wasn't feeling it and gave her 10 k and sent her packing. I told the lady at the front desk of my hotel that it wasn't fair for me to pay 25 k for 20 minutes. She attempted to give me the money back. The daily room rate was 80 k. I told her I would give her 55 k and we would be square for another day. BTW I saw this girl the next day in the casa lineup at La Mansion de David LOL. No surprise.
Nonpros Pereira. I was disappointed with the non-pros in Pereira. I found the people in Pereira to be friendly and welcoming. I went to a few malls and social areas. In some of these areas the locals said they see very few foreigners (if any) daily. The eyes of the locals tell a different story. The women in Pereira know of foreigners well. I traveled to Pasto, Colombia a few years ago. Pasto and Pereira are two cities that are similar in size. The eyes of the women in Pasto were fresh to foreigners as I definitely felt some novelty status. I did not feel this nearly as much in Pereira. I felt like I was in Bello (which is near Medellin) and not some far away place from the major cities. BTW I have visited Popayon and it was somewhere in between Pasto and Pereira as far as non-pros are concerned. Also, I just want to add that Pasto and Popayon had very poor PFP options.
I stopped by 1-2 other places in El Centro that were not worth mentioning. I also saw a few nighttime bars near the malls I went to but I never returned at night to see what the those scenes would have been like. There were some streetwalkers in the large parks in El Centro but I didn't walk through the parks many times and when I did I didn't see anything worth mentioning. I was told there were bars with hookers near the hot springs in Santa Rosa. The one driver I spoke with said the girls there were less hardcore but I never went to check them out.
A note to you guys traveling to Colombia: If you have a short trip I would not recommend Pereira. The major cities in Colombia have better infrastructures with many more mongering options than Pereira. For you guys who have extended stays in one of Colombia's major cities I would recommend Pereira as short 3-4 day side trip.
Note to World Travel: La Mansion de David needs to be put on the list. This is one of the most popular places in the city and was mentioned as such by Gonefishin.
Note to Jackson: Pereira not Armenia needs to have it's own thread. Currently Armenia is listed while Pereira and Manizales are not. Maybe a thread name Pereira / Manizales / Armenia. If I had to list one it should be Pereira IMHO. Just an idea. Do as you will.
Good luck to all.

Girl Friendly Hotels in Cucuta
Information seems to be a little sparse on hotels for Cucuta. Can anyone recommend a girl friendly hotel in Cucuta in a decent area? I usually AirBNB in Bogota to avoid chica fees, but AirBnb looks pretty limited in Cucuta. I was looking at the Holiday Inn. Has anyone stayed here before? Is it like Bogota where most hotels charge a chica fee?
