Hey Guys,
This is my first post on the site, and I'd just like to say how useful it is, keep up the good work.
Myself and a friend are heading down to Venezuela for Christmas and New Year, and we will be spending a Saturday night in Caracas at the Eurobuilding before going down Isla Margarita for the rest of our stay. I've read that the Las Mercedes area has the nightlife, and I was wondering if
a; it's safe to go and wander around Las Mercedes at night?
b; if there are any bars/clubs where a couple of youngish(28) Brits could go to get some pro or non pro action? We don't speak much Spanish, by the way...
I'm also gonna post a request for info on the Isla Margarita section to see if anyone has any more advice on that. I promise a full trip report on return.
Thanks Guys.

Las Mercedes is safe. From the Eurobuilding, you can walk there, it's probably 7 blocks depending upon where you go. You can taxi it fairly cheaply as well.
There are lots of people who speak English in Caracas. But you will be seen as a tourist. So, non-pro action might be tough. The fact that you are Brits might help. If you lived in So Fla, were a US citizen, and you spoke Spanish, you would Venezuelana's dream.
For Pro action, it can range from some of the lower end places down town. (Walk in and fuck, for $10 - 20) upto El Morrisson ($200/hr + a $30 bar fine.) It depends upon your budget.
My personal recomendation is to get a copy of El Universal and look under massajistas in the classifieds. You will need some basic Spanish or at least a Spanish/English dictionary. Write out what you want to say and talk to the girl. You will get the non-local price but you will be looking at the $30 - 50 for the first hour. This link will get you to their web page.
http://clasificados.eluniversal.com/09/05/02/
If you get a girl you like and want a longer period of time or a repeat, negotiate with her directly. Times are hard. She'll probably bite for something reasonable.
If you budget (based upon your hotel it might) allows you the high end. Go to El Morrisson after about 10 PM. But expect to pay top dollar.
These two strategies will get you the best looking girls in my opinion.
The Eurobuilding is guest friendly if it is not too late at night (use 11PM as a guide if you call an escort, anytime is good if you are bringing back take out from El Morrisson.) My experience with this hotel in the past was there were 1/2 a dozen working girls/women in the lobby, by the pool, and at the bar. I went there recently and these seemed to be gone but it may have been the week because there seemed to be several large events there. I say working women because the range seemed to be from early to mid twenties to late forties/early fifties.
Good luck. Caracas is not the best hobbying town in S/A but there is action available. Margarita is a different story from what I hear. Local action is available at very reason prices with good quality but Spanish is necessisary. If you don't speak Spanish, hobbying will be only in the tourist haunts and more expensive.

My Margarita prediction for your Xmas travellers.
BTW.
Margarita will be as Venezuelans like to say "full" from dec 15th thru the New year. The place will be jam packed. A friend having recently returned says itīs "dead" right now.
That changes on Dec. 15
The island will be full of venezuelan hotties on vacation, tanning, partying and looking to have a good time.
No Spanish?
British?
could be a problem.
28 is good.
Not fat, I hope?
Blonde hair, and especially blue eyes a big plus.
I suspect Senor Frogs will be jammed to the gills. Try your luck there. Be friendly, Venezuelans love to meet new people and are friendly themselves.
Donīt look desperate/drool.
It might be hard not to do. But try.
If you go looking for hookers, you will be taken to several places completely geared towards FOREIGNERS and will be asked fucking stupid prices. like $100US by skanks who you wonīt want to look at after having seen normal girls at Frog`s.
at your age, my advice is try to hook up with some younger Venezuelans who speak some English (yes, there are a fair amount, their speaking ability varies) and then have them "introduce you" and go from there.
best of luck.

Catire,
Many thanks for the info, it is pretty much as I hoped it would be. Unfortunately, neither of us have blonde hair, but we're both fit and like a good laugh, so hopefully things should fall into place when we get there. Just as a matter of interest, why could being British be a problem? A friend of mine has a Venezuelan girlfriend who has come to live over here in the UK, and both my friend(who worked over there for a year) and his lady said that it was "gringo's", as in Americans, that they got a bit weird with. That's not my opinion of course, without the Yanks our little island would have had it's butt kicked along time ago, and for that I am truly grateful.
Just in case our amazing looks and sharp humour (yeah right, in my dreams) fail to get the women flocking to us, would you by any chance know the names of the tourist places where we can pay top dollar and get ripped off? You know how it is, 10 beers or so and the tunnel vision sets in...
Big Johnson,
Again, thanks. I reckon El Morrison sounds like the answer, I'll post a report once I leave, I'm heading on to Havana for 5 weeks straight from Venezuela.
Cheers,
Tomster.

Fit and sociable/liking a good laugh will get you at least halfway home, especially on a party island at the biggest party time of the year. The only people looking for hookers at that time of year will be foreigners.
as to British vs gringo. Well, I think it all depends. But. IMO I think they (Venezuelans) are slightly more comfortable with Americans and more used to hearing American English. Depending on their class and their political orientation, they might share different views on Americans. Chavez supporters would tend to take a dim view of gringos, for example. Gringos, generally being rather arrogant and clueless, do catch a lot of flack, but they are more popular in Venezuela than most other Latin countries.
the most hated people in Latin America are of course, Argentinians, but thatīs a story for another day.
Iīll get you a place or two to get ripped by old and fat/ugly skanks if I get a chance.
I remember one place that a girl called "Moodyīs" or something like that.?
Morrisonīs is the answer for WHAT?
itīs way too expensive. talent there is "fair".
I suppose if you want an all nighter or say several hours and you are only in town for one night then I guess it`s the best way to go. But you will pay around $100 US just to take them out and another $100 for the girl - which is really a cruel cruel joke.
Havana to Caracas is 3.5 hours and will cost you about $330 roundtrip on Aeropostal.

Hi Tomster...
I can help you out a bit since I live in Caracas. This is just my opinion and is based on an American-gringo's experiences living here for over a year and a half.
First of all, in my opinion, Venezuela in general is NOT a quality P4P destination unless you have a ton of cash burning a hole in your pocket. I don't participate much here because of that reason and prefer to try my luck with the pretty non-pro's who are in abundance and who generally like gringos (although you'll have even better luck outside of Caracas in cities such as Maracay, Valencia, etc. where there are even less gringos).
Speaking of gringos, the vast majority of Venezolanos do not distinguish between Brits, Americans, Australians, etc. They consider us all gringos (general rule if you're white-skinned, don't speak Spanish, and originate from north america or Europe, chances are, you will be referred to as a gringo. This is not an offensive remark by the way, just a descriptive one).
The ONLY reason a pretty Venezolana would prefer an American is possibly because she wants to move there and/or she has relatives there.
Now, as the other poster stated, Las Mercedes is totally safe at night to walk around. There are many good discos to hit in this area for non-pros- For a nice disco, you could hit Studio 54, for a more "middle class" disco there's Alcatraz (I find the chicas easier to talk to here), and for a younger, single, college-age crowd (my personal favorite) hit "U" Club. "U" Club has cheap beer and more single chicas.
Another disco I enjoy is called "La Gartos" which is about 15-20 minutes from Las Mercedes but it is usually packed with chicas lindas on Thurday and Saturday nights (best night Thursday usually).
Concerning P4P opportunities- It is correct that to find anything of quality in Caracas, you probably are going to have to hit the strip club circuit where you'll have to spend some dough. Personally, I wasn't impressed with Morrison's- I would suggest "Angelo's" near Altamira in a shopping mall or "El Saxo" in Sabana Grande.
By the way, any taxi driver will know where any of these places are (legitimate and non-legit places). ANd if they don't know, they'll ask someone. Taxi's are safe in Caracas although always negotiate before you agree to go anywhere (NEVER pay more than BS. 4000 unless it is after 1AM and then I wouldn't pay any more than Bs. 5000).
The escort ads in El Universal are hit or miss, unfortunately. I've had some very good experinces starting from Bs. 40,000, however, I've also been sent duds. Every now and then I like to take a chance to see who shows up and I figure I can always send them back (always with cab money) if I'm not satisfied.
Isla Margarita- I'll be hitting Playa El Agua next week for my second time so I'll be sure and post some updated info. upon my return. The place that Catire is referring to is called "Woody's" and it is a decent place filled with pros AND non-pros. The pros usually make it fairly obvious they are pros, so don't worry. I'll let you know more about Isla Margarita en general when I return next week.

Catire.
I second your opinion about Argies.
Also peruvians realy "don't like" Argies.....;-)(not to mention the chilians or the Brasilians....!!)
They are welknown for their arrogant and snobish behaviour as they (the Argies) think they are not South-Americans but Europeans...!!!yeah right...
I saw in Peru a lot of pro feelings for Brasil (was there during World cup football you know June this year)!
Zippy: you are right. Even in Peru I was called sometimes gringo. Althought the people knew I was NOT an Americano;-)
Even if you speak spanish they'll refer to you as mr. gringo.
Johan.

Sorry Johan I would disagree most Chileans have the attitude problem. Right now Chile is number 1 in the economy in SA. They still have that PInoSHIT Complex. Argies hate Chileans and many Chileans hate Argies,Peruvians and Bolivians......

Zippy, thanks for your last report on the different discos in Caracas. You seem to know Venezuela, do you have any info on Valencia, both pro and non-pro ... i'm in Caracas about 10 nights a month but would like to venture out to other cities. From your experience, are the girls from Venezuela, Caracas or other cities as gringo friendly and warm hearted as the girls from Cali, Colombia? Thanks ... i like your reports ... good info and not too much political BS that no one cares about.
-
I think Zippy might say few things beat Monday nights at Alcatrazz in Las Mercedes.
I also think Zippy likes Valencia.
Btw.. anyone know that Valencia is known as the city of sweet oranges and beautiful women? as the Venezuelan saying goes?
does anyone care?
Ok. How about the fact that there is high percentage of homosexual males in Valencia?

Catire,
Sorry it's taken me a few days to return the post, things have been a little crazy for me over the last few days, but back to normal as of tonight.
Firstly, as a Brit, and for no other reason than that, I would like to lend my support to the anti-Argentinian argument. Can I do that? :)
Tell me, if Chavez supporters take a dim view of Gringo's all the time, is there any way of spotting a Chavez supporter? I really look forward to your answer...
And thanks for the other info - between you and Zippy you've been very helpful.
Zippy,
As I said above above, thanks v much for the info. We are only in Caracas for 1 night(a Saturday by luck), and it looks like we'll head on over to "U" club when we get there. There's no crazy dress code or anything is there? We kinda count on dressing up a bit anyway, but best not to get caught with our pants down, if you know what I mean... And what time does it get going in there? We've got a flight over to Margarita at 9:30am the following morning, and I guess that after the 12 hour international flight we're going to be a bit wasted.
We are spending the bulk of our holiday on Margarita, so I look forward to your post on the Playa. Have fun.
Anyways, thanks again you two, your info is worth it's weight in diamonds.
Tomster.

Yes, I definitely agree, Catire! I have met some great chicas on monday nights at Alcatraz (Ladies night- Ladies free, Bs. 20,000 per ******). In fact, I was just there last monday night with my bro who was visiting from the US and he was amazed at the 3 to 1 male/female ratio and by how hot and young the chicas were. However, Alcatraz usually isn't as great on other nights from my experience. Even on Mondays, Alcatraz doesn't get happening until 1 am or so.
I've been to Valencia a few times and there are many beautiful chicas there (and they are even more approachable than Caracas). There aren't as many gringos around Valencia as compared to Caracas and it is very easy to meet non-pros there. But the P4P is absolutely terrible! I've never seen such ugly strippers in my life in a strip joint called "Hollywood". And the bars with pros lack any decent quality IMHO.
For a good balance of beautiful non-pros and decent P4P opportunities near Caracas, I'd recommend Maracay (2 hours sw of Caracas). I travel there often since I have a gf there.
Tomster- You'll like U club, I believe. The dress code is casual, however, it is a good idea to look at least a little nice since Venezolanas do appreciate men who dress nice.
U Club gets going after 12 (however, a good time to get there is 11ish to find a place to stand and get a couple of beers in you before the massive crowd shows up- the place is always PACKED) and stays happening until 3 or 4 am. It's always a late night out in Caracas...
Going to Isla Margarita tomorrow- will return with some updated info...

Thanks Zippy,
Have fun on Margarita.

re: Chavistas and their attitudes towards gringos.
it depends.
The American embassy has warned US citizens here to stay away from demonstrations and be very careful, which I suppose is wise, but I also think that the American embassy likes its citizens in nice all inclusive resorts or in countries which "fully cooperate" with the United States, meaning they know or can know all about you.
so basically fuck the US embassy.
Generally speaking Chavistas are easy to spot. They will wear red berets, other things of that nature, Che t shirts., etc
Both sides wrap themselves up in the flag, and national colors.
the trouble with Chavistas is that many of the most radical ones are completely uncontrollable, even by Chavez, so you might be shit out of luck if they see you somewhere, and decide you are part of the filthy rich establishment etc.
On the other hand, most probably like foreigners, ESPECIALLY if you state that you agree with their cause. (wise thing to do if in such company, or shut mouth about politics, period)
It should also be said that most foreign visitors to Caracas almost never stay anywhere CLOSE to Chavista strongholds, though the hilltops surrounding the Hilton might qualify.
if youīre staying at Euro building and hanging out at Las Mercedes you are in "esqualido" country (squallid ones) and you will not find any Chavistas there.
