Not entirely true....your home country, USA in my case still considers me a citizen and as such affords all the protections extended to any other US citizen, whether he is of chinese or non-chinese...

And remember if you go that route, you no longer have the protection and services of your home country (consulate/embassy, etc). You are considered a local Chinese citizen!
