I have done a lot of search and I think you are correct.The only photos I can find of the outside area are from the foyer looking out.

I was in Bangkok in March and stopped at the Grand Sukumvit Hotel in Soi 6. Unfortunately the handbrake was well and truely applied during this visit so no P4P.
