I can confirm all recommendations about Amistad, stayed there just this past weekend.
About the train, it doesnt runs on weekends. The Barman Cesar is extremely helpful -

best western paradise inn & spa
Will be arriving Sept 24th, dont know how long will be staying in CR, probably till the 27th if I cant arrange a business trip for managua on the 25th.
Planning to stay at the best western paradises...
