I got an email from the Government of Canada. They are arranging a charter back to Canada to take any remaining Canadians who want to go home. Cost is to be 2200 USD per person one way. Compare to 35,000 p round trip Cebu-manila_Vancouver-Winnipeg RETURN that I was looking at for June back in January.

It appears that it would include sweeper flights from Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Davao and other places if necessary.

That is a better deal than the Port Morsby PNG to Tokyo flights that are also being arranged, 4200 USD economy 10,000 USD business class.

I got the same email yesterday, but I got it too late, because two days earlier I change my cancelled flights for July and I pay nothing. I was surprise, I guess since they were both the same flight numbers as my canceled flights it is free.

Even if I got that email earlier, I would choose staying until July and pay nothing, rather than spending 108,000 php!!

SNIP take away message for me and any other anal people that follow the numbers is that the "total cases" number probably does not include a high percentage of people who never sought care and that lowers the death rate computation.

Just as I said previously, the death rate is less than 1% among otherwise healthy individuals. If your sick, old and debilitated, it goes up. But the insanity rate and the rate of fascist leaders who think they can take away all your liberties without consequence is more like 90%-far more worrisome than the latest strain of the flu. The diff is mostly that we don't have vaccine for it yet and it's highly contagious. What, me worry? No way.

The bottom line is two studies have been done; A cruise ship study had 17.9% asymptomatic and another study by University of Japan found 30.8% asymptomatic. Two relatively small studies is not much but it is what we know now. These people had no symptoms or super mild and never sought medical care. New information out: As many as 50% more people have been infected and had no symptoms (asymptomatic) and got over it without knowing they had it but now have the antibodies so are now basically immune. These people did not go thru the healthcare system so are not included in J Hopkins spreadsheet. I guess that means the death rate is actually far less than 1%. NOTE: I want to be one of those so I can catch the next plane leaving for SEA. I see my Doc this week.

Big difference between zero cases and zero confirmed cases. With the ease of transmitting this and the fact that people can have it and be shedding the virus with no symptoms coupled with the lack of testing, it's no wonder that some places are reporting zero cases.

Knowing the filipina mind as I do they will initially raise rates claiming danger and mongerers, stupid as they are will pay for awhile but then the supply will increase but I predict that the demand will take a long time to return. Asians are fearful.

It is interesting that the PH site has such a detailed info on every case.

I heard that Cagara. Surigao province has zero cases.

Burundi has no cases PP as it has no test kits so is it COVID 19 free? Once the Philippines does proper testing I expect the numbers to rise quickly and could be scary.
