I brought back a small package of wild rice from Canada. (It is very expensive there and almost a delicacy.) They refused to even taste it.

I buy brown rice, the whole grain with the husks on it, much more healthy. I like the taste too.

The sales clerks look at me funny, the girls usually refuse to eat it or at least turn up their noses at it and only eat a little.

It is pricy but I like it even though I do not do macrobiotic. Hopefully PI and Thailand will not be hit hard with food crisis as the Nobel winner world food program predicts. Looking at their map, most of their programs are in Africa and India. Many girls tell me they like dancing for exercise but cannot do at at home. Covid is changing everything.

It defies logic, but in checking my observations with others around my place we all agree that lots of people are getting very chubby indeed.

I was about to say the same thing is happening in Thailand. Chicks are going home and blowing up. There it has nothing to do with rice, but constant eating. If a Thai chick does not send pictures of anything else, she will send unsolicited pictures of the food she is eating everyday. I say why do you keep sending me pictures of food? Meanwhile, for some reason foreigners assume they have returned home and are starving to death.

White rice is the stable and is pure sugar / carb as you say KG so it goes to the belly and stays there. I have tried with some modest success to get the pinays to stop the rice meal where they add one hot dog / dried fish etc and then eat a bowl of rice for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between.

Not helped by unlimited rice at some fast food.

This is the case the world over I think as when we were in the UAE at the same time I would ask them their weight now / at the moment compared with the web site and many had10-15+ extra kilos as limited exercise (mostly due to working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week!) and rice as cheap plus it is there DNA.

I agree it does defy logic, but if you don't have a lot of cash, rice is a good way to fill a belly. Unfortunately it can lead to overeating and gaining weight. You see overweight being correlated with poverty in the developed world as well.

Without having any hard statistical data other than my own observation skills when in the malls near my home, I am dumbfounded at how much weight so many filipinos (males & females) have gained in the past 3 or 4 months.

Dating sites have always been like that in monger places. If it is not a chick for a serious relationship then you only need to use the site to obtain contacts. You don't have to make it a chore talking to them every day. Chances are you have nothing in common anyway. You just need to hit them up once you are in country or a couple of days before and be like what are you doing, let's get together.

Similar here in-country. At the start of the lockdown, when my regulars refused to leave their homes for any reason, I opened a dating site profile (first time in many years), just for some variety and to see what would happen. Of course nobody wanted to meet at that time, there was a generalized fear that anyone leaving their compound would automatically catch (and then die from) the disease. Superstition. Regarding economy. Taxi's (and Grab taxis) are in desperation mode. At malls, they often line up 30 deep, before the mall opens, and wait a good chunk of the day for a customer. If you take note of the second or third car in line as you walk into a mall for an hour's lunch and grocery shopping, you might find that that car has moved up one or two spots as you leave. While malls reopened and most stores in the malls are open, foot traffic is 20% of normal (hence, not enough customers). One driver recognized me as he'd taken me several places, from my hotel to a distant mall for groceries, or back. The normal price is about p160 each way. He gave me his phone number and offered to pick me up at my hotel anytime and take me there for p120. He said he would even wait for me to shop or lunch and return me to my hotel for p250. Things are tight. There is a fast-food kiosk in the mall hallways you have seen before, about 5 of them in the malls in town. Only 3 have re-opened, and of the previous 30-ish employees, 10 are now back working (and rotating days of the week, as in M / W / Friday or T / Th / Saturday). Construction guys same: of those who are working, its two weeks on, one week off (or alternately they rotate days of the week). Security guys at the malls, same.

Had my 50th trip to Phil and left end of Jan 2020 after 30 days. This trip went to Cebu, Tacloban, Samar and Davao. All good meetups. I usually go 4 times a year for a month each trip but now stuck in this pussy wasteland of course, with the only enjoyment of chats on filipino cupid, whatsapp, skype and FB. Seems these days its just for entertainment value as we can't plan meetings at malls or get into more personal plans. I'm doing the same thing you are, but I see it as lead generation, I just tell them to keep I touch and when this thing is all over they get a piece and I get a piece. I am really not in this for a love connection for me personally its all sex so I keep them on the hook by saying I will contact them whenever this is over. But I think we will have a much deeper and higher quality pool to choose from. Only the most dedicated will travel when phils opens back up. I think AC will get set back a few years but in my opinion those were the good ol days. The girls in Manila / AC weren't hungry enough and started to get full of themselves a scarcity of customers will bring back that GFE experience. And all this free time to generate leads wlll just lead to more women with whom I find attractive rather than just settling for Ms right now. The bars might also be stocked with better looking girls seeing as all the 300 k herd OFWs returning home with no contracts will be taking all the skilled labor jobs.

Yes, my experience with Juan was very positive on several trips but I raised them as a proof of concept rather than suggesting that specific airline. As you said, they can't be used anymore even if you want to. There are several more options available, even seaplanes to islands, if you do go ahead.

ABC sold its helicopter quite a while ago. However, I am sure that if someone were to call the hotel the administration could arrange a private helicopter.

Yes, my experience with Juan was very positive on several trips but I raised them as a proof of concept rather than suggesting that specific airline. As you said, they can't be used anymore even if you want to. There are several more options available, even seaplanes to islands, if you do go ahead.

Air Juan actually gets horrible ratings seems to have a lot of unhappy campers that flew or lack there of, I guess moral of the story is don't ever expect a refund from Air Juan it looks like they are totally shutdown right now I wonder if they will even open back up. I'm glad you had a relatively good experience, this is something that is on my bucket list. I don't know if it will be with Air Juan but always good to have a few more options I didn't even know Air Juan existed.
