Posts: 33I am confused about this a little. So as an American I can pretty much to go any normal country I choose, whenever I choose, and my passport and filling out a little paperwork on the plane just prior to arrival does that for me.
Are you guys saying that a Philippine resident cannot come and visit the U. S. Like they are on vacation?

Posts: 500moving to Philippines permantly
hi to all,
nice report billpsu. i just want to add something :d
if you like to live in the philippines permantly, make sure you have something to do during the day. im working here and just live a normal life..which means i dont go out evry night, getting drunk, barfining gurls etc etc....cause i need to work..
being now frequently to ac and edsa and makati..i have to say im gettin a bit tired of those places, however ac is ok, cause its cheap and i have my favoured places there to hang out.
so, for the guys thinking to stay longer here, you need also a car, specially if u work and live in manila region and you like to explore more spot or shop in a supermarket, buying things , etc etc...if you live in ac, you wont need a car, bike is is fine and with the new express hi way to subic which is quite deserted you can easily drive by bike...
being here, you need to get back to "normal life", e. g. if you used to stay at home after work, not much going out, not much drink etc etc etc...you cant be a party lion once you live in the philippines. you need to get back to ur daily routine you used to have when you lived in your own country..trust me ;-)
once your head is clear, you focused on other things..of course you or lets say im here for the chicks, no doubt..but im here also for making money, working in a tropical country, easy life, and better lifestyle as i had back home. i dont live in a house or apartment. my condo is well secured, with guards outside in a 40 floor building, great view and quiet.
talking about quietness. when looking for a home, that should be your primar objective..quiet and secured environtment...with easy access to bank atm, supermarket and when no own car, access to cabs, busses etc..
dont buy real estate if you dont know whats happening around, e.g. greedy chinese pinoys can just built up a skyscraper beside your newly bought condo and you have noise for the next 3 years and your romantic view is gone :d.so, if you go for real estate, make sure whats happening around you..
retiring in the philippines, yes , why not, i like it here, but im glad i came here before i need somebody to change my [CodeWord132]. with other words...if you in the retirement age, you can have a lot of fun here also. but your an easy target for scams, robbery, and hit by any other foreign loser for investment. so, heads up, dont start ur day with a dry martini, start it with a swim, stay in shape...better shape, better sex :d
when living here and now i guess i allready reach that point, its really more exciting to date semi pros then bar hookers....also in terms of hygine, std etc etc...i mean, you also dont date hookers on your own country, right? taking them out in restos, right? ok, ok....i do/did that also, but well, its ok in a place like ac, but here in manila its a bit diffrent, except your in la cafe :))..
all, im going to say, for those folks who think, wow, when i live here in the philippines i bang evry day different gurls, get drunk and party evry night..
yes, i know some guys they doing that. i know a guy he went out evry night and get a gurl..once you here, your objective changes a bit..mine are still banging good looking chicks, good lifestyle which includes food, success at work and fun on the weekends, live more healthy and have good friends :)
thats all for today ..

Posts: 10This is a question to our friends who have been staying in PI for some time.
With the recent economic downturn in the U.S. and soring oil and other prices in most parts of the world, are you seeing any let down in terms of the number of mongerers visiting AC and Manila in recent weeks/months?

Please give me some advice here because I know there are many far more devious types on this forum than myself.
The subject is getting one of these LBFM’s (little brown fuck machines) to the US. I have written on this subject before and thought of every conceivable plan such as FEDEX’ing her and packing one in my carry on luggage! The reason I am looking at this is because I think it may make more sense to have a girl come to see you every couple of months for 2 weeks rather than us going all the way over to the PI.
My recent idea has to do with a tourist visa. Simply put the average Filipina cannot get any type of visa. I know this because I have spoken to the embassy in the US and in Manila.
But, there seems to be certain cases where a tourist visa would be issued. Such as an older person going to the US to visit an immediate family member living there
(example, mother going to visit her daughter married to a US citizen). According to the embassy they want “some type of an assurance she will return when her visa expires.” When I questioned this further they gave examples of someone with an established professional job, a homeowner and/or someone with children. There reasoning is someone who has worked hard to establish this life will not just run off and abandon all of this to be with one of us.
Applying my logic to this, maybe one of these girls that we have a particular connection with, who also has a child could get a visa based on the fact that she will have to leave her child in the PI while she visits us to screw our brains out?
More specifically, I am suggesting that we try to bring one of these girls to us for a couple of weeks every now and then rather than going over to the PI. From an economical standpoint all you would have to spend would be her plane ticket and her “fee” for services rendered during the visit. You would be saving the cost of hotel…etc.
I would love to hear from someone who has gotten a tourist visa for a young woman in the past. Most importantly did she get the visa because of the child being left in the PI or what was the determining factor? If she is an older woman…..say 30 or above it probably doesn’t help much because lets face it we are after the 18-25 crowd!
I realize this is a long shot but when I think of some of the hot women I have nailed in the PI that also have kids I think it may be a realistic approach.

Posts: 241How to spend two weeks in the Phills?
I'm allocating four weeks for my first trip to the Philippines and Indonesia in September/October.. Love the filipinas that I've met in HK and KL. I figure two weeks for each country. Manila and Boracay are on the itinery, but think I owe myself a couple of days in Angeles too. How does one easily get from Manila to Angeles? Any comments on the best way to divide up the two weeks in the Phils? I need some typical tourist stuff to occupy my time outside of the p4p scene. thanks...

Posts: 241Foreign transaction fee on credit card purchashes
Prior to my five week trip last Dec to Asia, I did some research. Capitol One credit card has NO foreign transaction fee. I applied for it and used it for my credit card purchashes in Hong Kong, Beijing, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Phnom Penh. Absolutely no problem and saved the foreign transaction fee that my Bank of American card would have charged. Check it out.

gentlemen,
i spent the best part of two years "22 months" in the great land of the pi. i am not an expert, know all, or person who knows more than most families. i did manage to take in facts, figures and many notes on the general life, and culture of the vast areas in the pi.
first i would like to say i never knew of the vast wealth, that many travelers had at there fingertips. i myself am just a working stiff, yes everyday and night here at home in the family biz. its hard to let go of 50 years in a business that is about to be passed down, anywho. i also had a somewhat close friend that had settled in the area"subic" years before as a guide so to speek. so here i go, and yes it is true, what many had said before i left, beautiful gals young and old, and a great discount on the pocket.
after meeting my bud he wanted to get me up to speed with the day and night biz at hand "girls". this seemed ok to me and he gave me the crash course. please note this was his school of biz, not to be confused with mine. most days started off for me with a light breakfast, and he strolled in after 10 am to lay down the exploits of the day. a local, he had a regular bunch he played cards, darts, and other waste of time games with each and every day.thats because he and most living here have nothing better to do. please don't get me wrong thats a great life if you are brain dead, drunk, or just tired of life in general."just my personal take on the subject"
after a short time i took what pearls he had given me and i headed out for greener pastures. i found my self in ac, manila, cebu, and other wonderful areas. like i said before i met many many people both locals and tourists. i can only say that most were ok and some hard to accept.
many here (the isg board)ask the same questions over and over about the cost, yes it is cheeper for a beer, lunch, rooms on the beach but watch out. if you want to live in somewhat comfort it costs money!
you want to have several playmates daytime, nightime, it costs money. i have seen guys take a folding chair and walk out into the bay sit down chest deep and require the waitress to deliver there dirink to them. yes like i said big money, rich, wealth, bigdeals, bigshots."listen to the rest i'm not finished"
i took notes as to the performance "bigdeal water dogs"at hand and after a while the drinks started to dry up, the high end liquor was down to beer. the owner of the hotel was quietly talking about when will i get paid. the other side of the paper has a story of the bigtimer that after 2 months had to have the motel owner purchase him a 1 way ticket home. there was another fello who was the owner of a vast empire in real estate. i had the honor of meeting, his dad, and brother,i met several weeks before. when the wealthy big brother finaly hit town he was from what i could tell not much better than most curbside panhandlers.i expected donald trump,or at the verry least a well dressed, well rounded chap.what i saw was drunken lowlife that was getting his action in ac curbside, and was rolled more than once or twice.
in short, i never met a regular guy! just many big deals, who were just that, over there, not at home. you must remember that the wonderful gals here do not think of us as regular, we are from a rich country thus we are indeed rich.
you do not have to play a game guys when you get there, just be yourself and enjoy what the area has to offer. as far as the gals go they are not stupid in any way please remember this. they are not gonna stay with a drunken abusive mabaho piece of shit any more than a gal from anyother place would. do most of the gals play games i would say yes but how many guys do ha?
the game is not so different anywhere when you look at the big picture. the guy on vacation wants variety and it is there, he wants what he wants and pays for things just like anywhere else. please note that there are many scamms run by both locals and visitors alike, "yes i trust that guy he is from the same state, province, country, town, troop, ship or whatever the fuck" most guys have not the brains left to use, after staying here anylength of time.they should go home, restock, work a while and return flush. i have seen the big fish sail off with nada on more than one occasion. then you have the guys on a limited income of old age, and whatever else they git from there many years of packing a lunch. you can have a nice life but keep in mind the cost of day to day expensives because it can add up quick.
treat the girls with 75% respect and you will get 110% back 99 times out of a hundred. remember to rent, never buy a home because you can not be the sole owner. stay away from anybody looking for an investor, partner, ect.
be yourself, enjoy the heat, sun, gals, and others and don't trust everything you here. keep your passport up to date, keep your personal things locked up at all times.
after all my guide"mentor" tried to instill in me, he did not listen to his own words.he purchased a nice home, and now
is looking for a new place to live, after 8 plus years here. this was the first time he went for the sale over the rental.could be he was way too smart for his own good. he thought he was smarter than everyone that told him, do not do it. 40-50 grand later he has no house, no cash back, and nobody to cry too but himself.if you enjoy this place take your time, look around, the place will be there when you get back.just look, listen, and never be in a rush to be a bigshot! afterall i have seen guys 60 plus calling there sisters for money, trust me it happens.
have fun, stay sharp, and never be too trusting.

Regarding fraud, it's a big deal, you should not mind that they want to check up on you. I have made it a point to contact my bank and give them my itinerary whenever I am about to travel overseas and I have never had a problem with them.

In terms of the 3% thing-shop around and ask all of your credit card companies. Some cards are 1% or will lower to that rate if you have been a good customer.
The ATM fees, I dunno where you are located, but many of the smaller banks or credit unions will let you build your own account and select a number of premium features such as rebates of any ATM fees for use of ATM's other than that particular banks for free. I found one a few months ago that offered me this, gave me an IPOD for opening an account, and after 6 months gave me $150 as a "loyalty" gift. I set up an account at this bank specifically for overseas trips and just transfer money in a week or so before I leave. I never use the account for anything other than trips.

Posts: 836As I mentioned in my post, I really can't recall.
Again, all you have to do is email the particular place and they will provide the info.
I wound up at Captain Greggs. Place was cheap/clean. My nephew did not like the aircon, he left after one night. I thought it was adequate.
We all agreed the food was very good.

Not sure which thread to post this on. My American bank credit card charges me a 3% foreign transaction fee everytime I use it in asia. The bank is security-strict, forcing me to call them for many purchases I'm trying to make. I have to call them in advance just to purchase a CebuPacific airline ticket or it gets denied. Can anyone recommend a Visa card that doesn't have these restrictions? Should I apply for one in philippines at one of the banks? I'm tired of paying 15 cents on each $5 purchase for lunch.
Also the ATM thing, my bank hits me with a charge each time I use it at an ATM that is not theirs. Should I open an account at a bank there, and get one of their ATM cards?
