    Some Gen Info stuff.

First, a gent on the Board recently mentioned Ivermectin as a Covid treatment. Apparently a sitting US senator also mentioned it on youtube and had his account suspended.

Second, a few days ago Cebu Pacific sent me a standard email regarding changes to their rewards program. I opened it but didn't look carefully at the date at the time. The emails states that GetGo points must be redeemed by June 15,2021. Problem: The email was sent to me on the morning of June 17, two days later. Good job!

Deliveries of the vaccine will begin in late September, Carlito Galvez, head of the government's COVID-19 vaccine procurement, said on Sunday. It "will significantly boost our national immunisation programme and will enable us to realise our goal of achieving herd immunity by year-end," he said."
Even before this the supplies of Pfizer were increasing. I got my second dose about 2 weeks ago and my wife and 21 year old son got their first doses of Pfizer today. Davao appears to be doing a reasonably good job in getting this into people's arms as soon as it arrives in the city and there appears to be an increasing number of vaccination sites throughout the city, or at least around the most heavily populated areas.

On the afternoon walk I was only one of a handful that had one (I was going to meet a hussy for coffee, the shop refuses anyone without both mask and shield).

Also, regarding the mask. I saw folks who weren't wearing one. Perhaps I just hadn't noticed before. The people who didn't have a mask were working sari's, carindarias, moveable fruit stands, stalls, or other employees who were ferrying products from a delivery truck into a business. Those walking on the street, customers in the mall, and employees in the mall all were wearing their mask. At the resto where I ate breakfast this morning (and eat several times a week), I noticed no employees were wearing a mask. In fact I don't recall them wearing a mask for some time (interesting, how you miss something right in front of you). Should the people who handle food be required to wear a mask? They do at fast food joints, and they separate themselves from you with plexiglass -- who's afraid of who?
I think the Filipinos are becoming just as tired of the BS as everyone else is. Many places still require a face shield to enter. I keep 2 in my car just in case, the big stores require them but then again once inside it depends on who is working. If you walk the back streets over half won't be wearing a mask and many that are have them pulled down. Back to the original point was being worried about having to wear a face shield in public which isn't or never really has been a problem (at least in my observations). 7,000 islands so I can only speak for Olongapo and Angeles City.

Everyone has their mask on correctly in public. An exception might be street vendors who work outside in the heat of the day, sometimes they step into the shade and pull down their mask below their chin to get some fresh air. On occasion I also see a security guard, sitting alone and bored at a closed business, playing on his phone with his mask below his chin. In my example above about watching how many people were wearing a shield, everyone had a mask on, both in the street and inside the store.

News: Some of the bars in Malate have re-opened, with mixed social-distancing protocols.

There has been quite a noticeable drop in wearing the shield in the last few months or so, just after the last ECQ here. Reading your post a few hours ago, I went out to a convenience store a few blocks up late this afternoon, and took a close look at who was wearing a shield in the street. About 20% had a shield on their face, and another 20% had one on top of their head (as was mine; the store does not allow inside without one). More than half had no shield at all, not perched on their head, not in their hand. I took note of the jeeps, everyone had one on inside a jeeps that I could see. Once inside the store everyone was wearing a mask and shield covering their face (except me, my shield was on top of my head).

I find this to be either a contradiction (not your post, B). The restaurants. You have to be properly wearing your mask + shield to enter a restaurant. Then once inside, you are going to quickly remove them to eat your food. As resto's, bars and such are re-opening, there is more barkada happening, where people sit and chat for an hour or more, the mask and shield are off their heads. As the mask in public is required by law, the shield is not. Why require the shield (that will quickly be removed) to enter a resto / bar? Recently I was about to enter a fast-foot place around 7 am. Just as I was reaching for the door handle, the wind blew the shield from where it was perched atop my head. I grabbed it with my left hand, while opening the door with my right. The guard motioned with his hand over his face and said "Shield". I put it on, correctly, over my face. He let me in and directed me to the sign-in table. As I grabbed the ink pen and contact trace form I also took off the shield (can't see to write when its on my face) as I do everytime I enter any resto. Less than 10 seconds inside the door wearing a shield (as do some others), I just don't see the need for a requirement to have it to enter many businesses. In a mall or grocery store I can understand the academic argument for the mask and the shield, each might mitigate contagions in the air. But in a resto / bar you must take it off (to eat) in order to make the business profitable. Every resto that requires a shield to enter is turning away business from customers on the street who happen not to be wearing a shield and want to stop in for Chickenjoy, a coke, and some aircon.

It appears to be outdoors only.

    Here's another article from yesterday:

    https://www.philstar.com/headlines/2...certain-spaces

"Vega had told a Laging Handa briefing earlier today that individuals can opt to remove their face shields when outside, especially if it would obstruct the vision of those wearing it.

Per the DOH, face shields are required when in the following areas:

    enclosed public spaces
    schools
    workplaces
commercial establishments such as, but not limited to, food establishments, malls, and public markets
    public transport and terminals
    places of worship
other public spaces wherein 1 meter physical distancing is not possible and if there is a gathering of more than 10 people at the same venue and time

    SNIP

In the same hearing, Interior Secretary Eduardo Ao said the non-wearing of face shields should carry no penalty in LGUs' ordinances. Such should only be imposed when not wearing face masks, violating social distancing, as well as on mass gatherings, he added."

    Ya. What Free2 said.

Update, see pic. From the DOH and IATF, dated June 13. Almost 2 million fully vaxxed in Phils. Rolling 7-day average is about 140 K vaxxes per day.
