Posts: 232I recently alloted P750 for a single uniform for a college student of a parochial school. So P750 for two uni for elementary school sounds right. My student was bemused that I wanted her to come dressed in the uni. And she's right, it's not at all sexy compared with her street wear. I was only ensuring that the funds had been spent as agreed.

BTW, by gov't order school uniforms are not mandatory, but there are guidelines, http://www.deped.gov.ph/orders/do-46-s-2008. It may be cheaper to buy a uniform than to have a few sets of school-appropriate clothes. For schools that have a recommended uniform here there's social pressure to conform.
I suspect 'trasper' is her attempt at 'transportation fare'; ask her is she means 'pamasahe', which is 'fare'.

One of my regulars says she needs money to send her two kids back to school. She has recently moved to another part of Angeles and has to send her kids to another elementary school. She claims she needs 1825 PhP plus another 850 PhP for two uniforms. Could this be true? I have googled a bit and it seems to me that the public elementary schools are free (except maybe for the uniforms).
She says 'have problem trasper'. I don't know what the heck she means with 'trasper'. Maybe (money) transfer? Or transport?

Posts: 4567Nice to see some fresh air here. If she's willing to desperately ask for handouts via email or sms, she probably willing to give it up. No reason to over react.

Posts: 6781Maybe we need insurance. Just in case we die here
This was in the Philstar today. Many have spoken about the need for insurance especially if you live in he country. This seems to agree (maybe). The top country at the top of the list also surprised me BTW.

Maybe we need more moderators.

Posts: 13Question on Subic and Puerto Galera nightlife
Hey all,
Just a question to anyone who's been to both Subic and Puerto Galera. I been to Subic a few times and loved it. We are planning on a trip to Puerto Galera and just want to know if the nightlife bar scene in Puerto Galera is comparable to Subic? Thanks, FB.
