Few days later I noticed the same original Residence still had the exact same units available thru airbnb, so I contacted a different Host there and asked if the unit was available during lockdown. "No sorry to inform its not". Check. An hour later I received a msg from that same host: "Are you Filipino sir? If so, you can able to check in if you have Medical Certificate for the Mgmt". I see. But for us (haha) Filipino only? "Yes sir. You can get Certificate from any doctor and bring me". Must say, that's pretty sh*tty.

It's a sad time to be deployed here. I was looking forward to my month long dining on Filipinas.

What did we do for all the past flu epidemics? We did not shut down the world.

What's different this time from all other pandemics in the past is the incredible, international mobility of the Chinese population. Viruses cannot be contained when such a large group of people is absolutely intent on getting on a plane. China is the world's factory and manufactures just about everything the world needs. Over the past 15-20 years, entrepreneurial Chinese have become incredibly wealthy, making stuff or servicing the needs of the middle class. There are thousands of millionaires and millions of middle class people in China who are addicted to overseas travel.

1. Tourists. Middle class Chinese love international travel. If you've ever been to the world's major tourist traps, there is one nationality group that will stand out. It doesn't matter whether its Paris, Rome or Fez, Morocco.

2. Belt and Road Policy. The Chinese Communist Party underwrites just about every major infrastructure project in developing countries. Obviously, the poor governments in African countries or in the Pacific are never going to be able to pay off those soft loans, so are happy to give up their sovereignty. These projects requires thousands of Chinese nationals (engineers, project managers and construction workers) to develop and deliver. They are sent to all parts of the globe.

3. International Students. There are about 2 million Chinese students studying outside of China in various rich, white man countries. They and their parents are always flying around.

4. In this particular case, thousands of Chinese, who are residents in other countries, went back to China to celebrate Lunar New Year. Hence they took the virus back to various rich white man countries after their family visit.

There are over 100,000 Chinese who are permanent residents in Italy. Easy to work out how the virus got there.

Isolation is the best way to contain this pandemic. There simply aren't enough ICU beds in the world to cope with the expected cases of elderly people who will need treatment. We can't afford to have the aged getting sick as most health systems in the world will meltdown, as it has in Italy. If ICU beds aren't available, how do you treat the 20 year old car accident victim? Doctors will have to prioritise.

This might be just "the flu" for those under 50, but the over 70 aged group is particularly affected. Apparently it's like drowning in air, and the damage to the lungs is long lasting. We don't want the young passing it to the old, hence the restriction in social contact. The two month lockdown in China appears to have worked.

The hysteria is not just confined to Filipinos. I live in rich white man land and the behaviour of the people here is also irrational. Some people have filled their entire double garage, floor to ceiling, with toilet paper, pasta, rice and hand sanitiser. People are pulling out knives in supermarkets at the toilet paper aisles.

Mongers will just have to pack away their dicks for the next six months and take up a more useful hobby. One that perhaps exercises their brains a bit more. You'the be surprised how easy it is to forget about chasing Pinay pussy and get along with normal life.

Yes and no.
