It depends on what other medical issues the patient has. People in the 70+ age group already have a range of ongoing medical conditions. Getting the Wuhan China virus at that age is only going to accelerate death if they already have respiratory, renal, cardiac or vascular issues. The exercise on calculating the number of ICU beds and ventilators has already been done. It is woefully short for the number of expected Wuhan China virus cases in the next few weeks. That's why governments world wide are shit scared and are embarking on a lockdown campaign to protect the aged. There's a school of thought that maybe the elderly should just take a hit for the team (like the young did during the world wars) and we shouldn't be closing down businesses. But who's going to make that call?

Interestingly, in the Rappler article the photo shows doctors wearing what appear to be surgical masks rather than N95's (except for the guy in the surgical gown). N95's are supposed to provide "at least 95% filtration efficiency against solid and liquid particles" (language is from 3M, a major producer of N95's). The principal barrier is synthetic material. Surgical masks, on the other hand, are made of woven fabric with a much lower filtration efficiency. They are intended to protect the wearer from large droplets and protect patients from large respiratory droplets from the wearer. Covid19 particles apparently are small enough to pass through woven fabric. Doctors and nurses are going nuts with guidance suggesting they use surgical masks, bandanas, or whatever do it yourself masks they can find.

Then the Coronavirus came strong on March and it was all over the news everyday and it panic her to the point that she didn't want to go out anymore (we used to go out almost everyday, specially in Cebu).
