Yes, the newly trained front line will scrutinize your papers with a fine tooth comb and then pass it on the second line people, who will look at notes and check marks made by the front line and then look at the boss who has been looking over their shoulders for approval. The boss will make a few grunt sounds and wave you thru.

In the first days of March I will be in the Philippines. And I have always had this curiosity, but I have never been able to understand. If anyone here knows both Davao and CDO, could you tell me the difference, as well as the size of the city? In other words, where is it easier to find regular available girls? Et. Etc. I checked in to the Penn and was told that no visitors are allowed after 10 pm. Prior to that, its ok to bring any visitor as long as they have the vaxx card and ID.

Its great news that the documents were easy (although possibly tedious) to acquire before your departure. Appraise us each few days as to any movement / taxi restrictions, restaurant rules, general business rules for entry.

Its a $35-$75 tax imo that I assume is unusable, kind of like a throw away ticket. Its purpose is to gain entry.

Might as well as get a legit policy with legit coverage while you are at it.

I would be curious to hear from people who got sick and had to claim. A lot of insurance requires payment to hospital and insurance company reimbursement at a later date.

A few years ago an acquaintance of an acquaintance was hospitalized in Makati General. I was asked to visit the person. The person received first world hospital treatment. Hospital room was a suite with an extra bed for family to stay over night. It was a long stay and the bill was close to $50,000. I know the person didn't have the money to pay it but had travel medical insurance to cover it. Not sure if the person was released prior to ins payment or not.

Again this was a first world hospital that probably had a medical insurance billing dept.

Problem will be in a third world hospital that has no medical ins billing department demanding cash for release.

Its 8 pm Wednesday local time here in Manila. We landed about 1 pm today. Here's what it was like for the foreign visitor.

Upon debarkation we walked into the terminal but instead of going to immigration, we were asked to be seated and get out our vaxx card; One pass; proof of insurance; and boarding pass. There was about a 15 minute wait to get to a booth and present these to an officer. He entered the data in his cell phone. Painless.

Then to immigration. Short line. Having already presented most of the stuff, I was surprised when the immigration officer asked for all the paperwork again, plus proof of a negative test. A minute later I was through.

After picking up my suitcase there was another desk to go to where they wanted the One pass again. Less than a minute to clear that.

So the upshot is to keep all your paperwork in hand because you can be asked for any and all of it at any time.

After trying to get international coverage documentation that would get me through immigration, I decided it was easier to sign up for insurance. Went with Safety Wings Nomad. $250 k USD w / $250 deductible. Easy to sign up and they fixed things for me when I realized I got the end date wrong. Thanks Janni!

After some thinking it is wise for tourist to have medical insurance. I would increase coverage to $50,000 - $100,000.

In PH if you do test positive they can confine you to a hospital. If you are positive then it is best to be confined to a very good hospital like St. Luke in BGC or Makati Medical Hospital. Of course these hospitals are expensive especially if they know you have insurance. $35,000 coverage may not be enough in severe cases. Best to have more coverage and to be able to select a good hospital. Most plans have medical transportation coverage. Personally if I was severely ill I would opt for a flight to a hospital in Guam where my Medicare insurance would be in effect.

All depends on how much you value your life.
