Spivey24 - Enjoyed your post. I don't think you're alone in experiencing PPD (Post-Pinay Depression) syndrome. Unfortunately, there is no cure that I'm aware of other than the next trip to PI.

You asked the question "what is real and what isn't?" The answer is everything you experienced was real even though it might seem more like fantasy now that you're back home to whatever your normal reality is.

I had a similar experience on a previous trip - after hitting the bars for a while I found one particular girl that I hit it off with more than others (although some others were great also). She was about half my age (19), gorgeous & seemed thrilled to be around me - something that would never happen to me in the U.S. She would have married me in an instant. I was more cautious and once back to reality in the U.S. could think things through a bit more. Even if I was sure I wanted to get married, how practical would this be? If I brought her here to the U.S. , she would not know anyone but me & I work a lot. Filipinas areren't used to being alone & family and friends are much more important there. So I think it would be a difficult adjustment for most. We kept in touch over the Internet & phone for over a year, but I made her no promises & she ended up finding someone else & getting married. Even so she still emails me once in a while to ask how I'm doing. Btw, she never once asked for money from me so there are some girls there that aren't only interested in finding a money-ko. While some mainly want your money, I think others mostly want a way out of poverty (and maybe the bar scene) to a better life with a decent guy. As for the girl you met, keep in touch with her if you really like her. Be honest with her though - if you're not interested in getting married anytime soon, let her know that & just see how things go. If you want to sample more Filipinas, I'd suggest doing that first when you go again & although I generally believe in honesty, this would be an exception -Don't tell your girl since she'll likely be very upset that you want to be with anyone but her.

Anyway, in the meantime, just try to look forward to your next trip. I don't think there will be a shortage of great girls in the PI anytime soon.

She is somewhat infatuated with marrying a foreigner, so intentions are more about looking for a boyfriend. The sex was good, but not the best I've had. I just know I am so depressed at this point and miss her a lot.

wander luster, i for one enjoy the phils/thai comparison, i also worked in phuket for a while and found the "local" variety of "southern" girls so much beter and more refreshing than the imported issan peasant girls that primarily populate bkk bars etc. the problem is (i hate to say this) most of the issan girls are... well...stupid. they are also looked down upon by most of bbk even the local "have nots" as their guteral speech and "country ways" are very amusing to the class concious thais.

that to me is one major difference, the intelligence level, not just because filipinas speak english, but on a whole they tend to be better educated than the average thai. of course communication helps but as you pointed out thai girls are much more open about sex and sexual matters and some things need no translation. buddism recognizes no "sin" in the christian concept, there is only merit and karma, one achieves merit by doing good and karma rewards... or punishes, buddah has a sense of humor, screw over too many people and you come back as a toad or something.

I did not do much hobbying after all while in LOS, but I was there for about 18 days....this was due to having to handle work problems more then having vaca time and some of the work problems meant I want to come back in 6 months when my finances are 4X what they were.

Someone mentioned that Filipinos are more reserved than thais because they are catholic. There is MAYBE something to that, but the best comparison is to Catholics in Latin America. Same idea. Came from what may have been "Animist" religion and then the Spanish forced Catholicism on them. So you have a mix. In that mix for the girls in the PHILS are famous the world over for wanting to please their man. Just spend 20 hours on the dating sites as I have and you'll see that. I don't really know how much the Thai women have this huge urge to please there man.

But the Thai girls know the concept FUN ...no question about that. There was a "playfulness" I found with girls there that is not as common in the Phil’s. I only sampled 3-4 of the fruit of Thailand on this trip (another 8-15 on 3 trips 5-15 years ago). But there FUN attitude was just what I needed given my work is at a very high stress place right now.

I spent my last 10 days on phucket. My God I had no idea the place had changed so much. It looked NOTHING like when I was there about 6 years ago. Honestly, I much preferred the Patong of 6 years ago. But what you do have now is more selection. There are slews of working girls in Patong ...not tough to find your diamond. And I was able to do just that.

What a dream...I just couldn't believe she was new to the game, but she proved it. I don't like girls that are working in bars for too long. Her English was close to zero and for me that just killed the comparison to girls in the Phils. She stayed long term at my hotel, Patong Resort-- which sucks-- and then spent the entire next day with me “free”.

Yes, money is what most want in the offer and may be 99.0% of what matters, but if they really like you and there is a chance you will get to know them then money may be 25% I look at it as if they are not much different than the girl that sleeps with a guy on the 2nd date because for whatever reason she thinks that she’ll enjoy it and that it will be a good thing for remaining a longer term prospect to him if she is really keen on staying with him.

For me, I love BKK because it is NOT Christian and I do like so much of Buddhism stands for. BKK is just a very fun city to explore if you like such things. And I don't just mean seedy exploration. But I love Cebu even more. The phils are simply cheaper in the P4P world and girls are easier to find that are looking for BF experience.

I am going to make a bigger effort to stay away from p4p because I do see too much BS here in Cebu with the way the Mama Sans treat the girls. A girl working in a cantina/restaurant may earn 2000 PHP/month working full time and not have to pay any taxes (or get any benefits).

A student can get a meal in a cantina/restaurant for about 25 PHP. A jeepney ride costs about 6 to 7.5 PHP/person. Internet access can be had in little out-of-the-way shops for only 15 PHP/hour; in the big airconditioned malls, it will cost about 60 PHP/hour.

A girl working in a shop at a mall may earn 2000-3000 PHP/month working full time, but she'll probably lose her job within 6 months (because the employer won't want to start paying benefits and would just prefer to hire someone else).
