Because the only thing it is going to tell you is that someone is hot.

    Salamat po.
They are even scanning on internal travel. I took the RORO ferry from Batangus to Calapan and was given a form to fill in and had a temperature check on leaving the boat.

Guess they don't know that these temperature checks don't work.

My usual options are to take Delta through Narita or PAL directly from San Francisco to Manila. If Narita is likely to be a sticking point, PAL through San Francisco works okay for me.

    Corona Updates?

Seems like no significant updates in ISG about Corona in the Philippines in the last two weeks. Apparently businesses are running slow and Philippine authorities have barred flights from Mainland China and Macau.

I'm due to travel to Manila and Iloilo for work in late April. I understand that using hand sanitizer liberally probably makes everyday life manageable in the Philippines, but I am concerned about travel restrictions. Obviously much can change in two months, but has anybody experienced or heard credible reports about: a) quarantines applied to air travelers arriving to the states from the Philippines, b) passengers being stopped in intermediate air stops such as Narita, or c) any new Philippine bans on incoming flights since they lifted the ill-informed ban on flights from Taiwan?

I have found no related updates on legitimate websites, but since the patrons here are fabulously well-informed, I thought ISG might be a reasonable place to inquire. (Yes, I read Mr. E's sarcastic trolling.) I need to make a travel decision soon.

    Salamat po.

    Narita Security

Yes, mid travel security check is a pain in the butt.

NO, they have not stopped requiring check at Narita.

I travel multiple times DFW NRT HAN.

Each time security check in Narita.

    Happy hunting.

    Rainman.

I have heard that, about a year ago, Narita airport stopped requiring US transit passengers to undergo security checks to go to connecting flights. Is this true? In two weeks, I'll be flying United from Houston to Manila via Narita. I always hated that damn transit security screen at Narita.

That is only when you are not getting on a plane to the USA. If you are coming from the USA and going to Manila then you no longer go through the security phase. But going the other way you do.

It wasn't a year ago bc I had to go thru it a little while back.

Mid January, 2020 I transit thru NRT via United to Manila and as I got off the plane, like usual there was a uniformed gate person holding signs for transit passengers to go a certain way. To my surprise I walked right out to the gate waiting area. No security screening! For a minute I had a brain freeze and didn't know what to do.

So, no more secondary screening for United transit passengers.

Yes they don't accept China, Taiwan, hongkong.

Taiwan has raised the case, they don't like to be mixed with China.

The only people they would let board the plane were Filipino citizens or people with Filipino passports to be more exact.
