A week into my two week trip to the phils I had to go back early to the USA so I went to the PAL office on Ayala ave in Makati.

They wanted $250 to change the ticket and about $1500 because of a 'fare difference!' I've never encountered anything like this in my life.

Expedia bailed me out with a last minute one way ticket for $814.

As a long time visitor I really have to re evaluate the phils. The girls are much heavier than even 5 years ago is my impression. And if there isn't cheap flights anymore what's the point.

If it was an Air France office in central Paris and I was trying to change my flight to NY at the last minute I could understand getting clipped but the friggin Philippines?

The way I see it is that sending cash is definitely a lost cause. As the old proverb says, if you give a (wo) man a fish you feed her for one day. Teach her to fish. You get the picture.

DG is far more polite than me so I'll point out the pitfalls of a "my girl is different" mentality. Many, many guys have thought the same over the years. Odds are very high that said laptop will be used for other income streams far more lucrative than a Virtual Assistant. If she's smart enough to find you, then she's smart enough to have other benefactors at the same time.

However, if you think you are being fairly compensated, then more power to you.

Have you considered going direct to the laptop manufacturers? Many have good online stores and shipping options. Dell jumps to mind.

I really like Lazada, but I wouldn't use it for a laptop purchase. Scams run there, like anywhere else, and that is a significant purchase. If you do choose it, narrow your search to LazMall. It is usually a bit more expensive, but also more reputable retailers.

You can use Amazon with free shipping. Funny is if you choose the quicker delivery which will cost you but the import deposit fee drops quite a bit. It works out cheaper and quicker delivery for you. Just an FYI to you.

Though I know the women in clubs get tested (let's leave quality control issues aside), the STI rats should be off the charts, given condom use etc is minimal. Jakarta (Reuters) - Indonesia is introducing a golden visa scheme to attract foreign individual and corporate investors in an attempt to boost its national economy, a statement from the ministry of law and human rights distributed on Sunday said.

"The golden visa is granting a residence permit for an extended period of five to 10 years," director general of immigration, Silmy Karim said in the statement.

The five-year visa requires individual investors to set up a company worth $2. 5 million, while for the 10 years visa, a $5 million investment is required.
