I doubt you will get an answer but it wouldn't surprise me if it has something to do with the move to the new host in the Netherlands. They had some technical problems with that (eg. the photo gallery) and given the long down times for maintenance every day I think they are still experiencing problems.

I reported my own post ("What is going on") to Admin, asking about the pop-up ads. The FAQ clearly shows a paid-up subscription should have no ads. If the new Admin has changed this policy (his prerogative obviously), he should announce it.

As a paid up Senior Member you can remove the ads by clicking on the Hide / Show Banners link in the Blue bar at the top of the page, next to the Abbreviation button.

How many pop ups do you get?

I get two. One when I enter my username and another when I open my first forum. After that it's add free.

I get just one ad pops up in a separate window. I get it at one of these three stages:

1) I click into the Username box, or.

2) I click any link (even before logging it), or.

3) I do nothing, just wait about 45 seconds, and an ad opens up.

Its never ad free, you will see these puppies on every page (pic).

Is anyone able to help with information on the differences between PH and VND and how the system is best played over there?

I have been to Vietnam (HCMC and Nha Trang) about 4 years ago and I had a good time. It's not as easy as the PH, but I knew that beforehand so I lowered my expectations.

The best advise I can give you is to collect AS MUCH information as you can in the Vietnam forum BEFORE you go there. Don't go there unprepared or only half prepared because you will spend most of your time in your hotel room figuring out on internet where the action is. And getting around in HCMC is a real PITA, comparable to Manila.

I can give you some information by PM if you want but it's probably dated by now.

As for me, I never gave up and half way through my week there, I discovered Buy Vien. I quickly checked out of my 5-star hotel in D1, and got a room in the BV area. After that, it was "LE repot du guerrier" as the French would say. In other words, I had a ball the rest of the way.

Buy Vien is the tourist (backpackers) area. In the Vietnam forum it's often advised NOT to go there because it's a tourist trap, but apparently you had a good time there LOL.

5-star hotels, as well as 4-star hotels, are usually not girl friendly in Vietnam. Better stay in 3-star or lower.

I use MB Premium also. Never had that happen. However the popup ads keep coming up at each login. WC.
