I noticed often a member will mention a good deal they have just received & yet when I go check it out the price is totally different.
Scratch your head no more gents. This article from a University study throws light on price discrimination.
Lesson: buy a bloody iPhone.

GE and others have posted FRs on using Uber, I know GE is a fan so this article is interesting. Seems the authorities are following the lead from some other parts of the world and trying to stop people using Uber.
Who knows if it will work as some countries have passed laws and that would take time in this country, but scaring the drivers who are connected to Uber plus confiscating the car and a huge fine may deter some from offering themselves as a Uber driver.

Posts: 1459PSA: Public Transport in metro Manila
This may have little to no importance to the jet-set junta who travel in posh comfort by taxi, but if you use public transport this website works wonders for determining which jeep to take from point A to point B - http://sakay.ph/.
It uses google maps so it's familiar and accurate, though be warned google maps uses the current street names whereas most signs on transport use the old names often.
It has its flaws, for example travel from Pedro Gil station to Hyatt Hotel it only provides walking info; it's a not a far walk but on a sweltering day it kind of sucks.
May be useful to a girl who needs to travel to your location.

Posts: 430110 volt or 220 volt electricity from outlets in Angeles City?
(Posted this in Hotels and figured this may be the better sub-forum for this question):
I'll be staying at ABC very soon and I don't know the power requirements for my electronics.
Will I need to bring a 220 v to 110 v converter for my trip to Angeles City?
Thanks for your help.

Maybe the Philippines is leading the US of A in at least one area, but it seems the USA is hell bent on catching up.
The reasons are different between nations though.

Posts: 6781Lots of chatter on how corrupt the country is and some of the posters have eloquently stated why there is little hope in reality.
This may seem like another case of tourists being extorted by the police. Am sure it happens a lot more than reported but it involves Saudis.
http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/644393/...audi-nationals
Now, some will even say the Saudis deserve it etc but regardless of this the incident may prove more embarrassing for the Philippine government than it thinks especially if it does not catch the rogue NBI agent.
Many of you will know about the 'Blue Diamond' Affair in Thailand many years ago (Google it ass a good read). This is far less than (no jewels stolen no deaths) that but the Saudi authorities hold a 'whip hand' over this country as it issues thousands of OFW work visas.
The Thai situation was resolved by the Saudis never again issuing work visas so despite the far less serious nature of this incident if the government let it slide as am sure some in the police would like, it could ultimately impact many families as the Saudis can get DHs etc from other countries. They don't really care (especially when Saudi nationals complained to their government that paying a DH 15-18000 pesos a month was far too much and Africans were cheaper).
Just my view but one that shows how corruption can impact many more in the longer term. And for 25 years or so the Saudis have never issues a work visa.
