This flight could easily have been shortened to 25-30 minutes. Why do they publish such lavishly long flight schedules on CP?

So that they can reach the 69. 7% On Time Performance (as recorded for May, according to their website)?

Four or so out of my last five Cebu Pathetic flights have been plagued by 1-5 hour delays ("due to late arrival of inbound aircraft") and bad jollibee chicken with rice. Most of those flights were in the month of May so my personal OTP is around 20 %.

Flew from Butuan to Cebu. Scheduled flight time: 40 minutes. Actual time from nose-up to wheels-down: 22 minutes."Ladies and gentleman this is your captain speaking. We are cruising at 40, 000 feet, and begining our descent into Cebu." Can a plane climb from sea level to 40k, then land, in 22 minutes? Of course, if its piloted by James T. Kirk.

Flew from Cebu to Manila. Scheduled flight time: 75 minutes. Actual flight time from nose-up to wheels-down: 41 minutes (12:50. 1:31pm). Include in that a mid-field crossing directly above the manila airport at about 5000' (the old Cavite airfield clearly in view) , a turn out towards the sea for about 6 minutes, and a 180 to get back to the airport. This flight could easily have been shortened to 25-30 minutes. Why do they publish such lavishly long flight schedules on CP?

To be fair, I do think RK's post was a bit harsh. And thanks for clarifying the fact that RK doesn't run the Philippines.

I just happen to wish that the Philippines could become the next Asian Tiger in economic terms and that more and more people, including the battered and exploited agricultural sector, will start to get a better income for themselves and an improved quality of life. Already the so-called "middle-class", which includes teachers and call center operators, are benefitting from much larger pay packets.

I don't think I was at all harsh in what I said.

If an improved economy means less easy access to sex for occasional tourists then that's just bad luck. I doubt much will change in my life-time though.

You also seem to misrepresent what was written in the original post by Sxxx . I'm guessing that Sxxx just used a poor choice of words. I basically agree with what Hutsori wrote.

well those cameras seem great to attach to your bike helmet when speeding down a volcano but you had best figure which part of your anatomy to attach it to, and how good it is with recording close ups. some vid cams arent so good at up close, whereas a really normal point and shoot handles close ups recording really well. the other solution is to hire a camera girl. and believe it or not, there are many that do such work. theres even a few members here who know such ladies.

Personally, I try to make it good for any girl, or indeed any person I meet in the PI. The only exception are taxi drivers. With the girls, its gifts, cash, and a nice experience. I know it is for me. For the doormen, waiters and average male Filipino, I appreciate their courtesy and generally upbeat attitude. I look to tip them whenever I can. If I get overcharged sometimes, I don't sweat it. Its part of the 'social contract' between a single male visitor like myself and the Filipino population.

Reliable info states, that, as per PH Law, the Mugindanao massacre suspects are trying to get an Affidavit from some of the Victims' kins, so that the case will be withdrawn and the blame pinned on the other vicitm. The Gov Mangadatu, whose wife and campaign team was massacred.

As per PH law, it is perfectly legal it seems, to do such a thing, and the suspects are heading in that direction, which may be finalised once a compensation plan is agreed to the 58 odd dead people's relatives (excluding the primary victim / candidate Mangadatu of course.)
