LOL. Marconista my post was pure sarcasm just poking fun at these guys who seem to run into trouble in PI. I probably never go back to Thailand. I have ran around both countries (PI: 2004, Thailand: 2006) for the last few years and so far trouble free....

Don’t underestimate the dangers in Thailand. Robbery, particularly by ladyboys, is a hazard on Sukhumvit (ask Barko) and the beating of tourists by local scumbags is common in Pattaya/Phuket, which also has many druggings, muggings and unexplained deaths by ‘accident/suicide’.

Thailand is a more ‘user friendly’ environment for the tourist and the providers can be beautiful if sometimes a little too mechanical and professional for my taste these days. Filipinas are more girlfriendly and you have much more chance of 'freebies' but the infrastructure/food/travel can really suck, particularly in Manila and Angeles.

You pays your money …etc.

at titanium the other night and watched a drunk american get the shit kicked out of him. not just by thai men but by thai women too!

this poor fellow was having a good time. dancing, laughing, ass grabbing with 3-4 of the titanium hostesses/waitresses. of course, he had been buying ladydrinks for all those cute girls for several hours and he went nuts when he was presented with his bill for the night.

i don't know how big his bill was, but i bet it was upwards of 20,000 to 30,000 baht. titanium is not one of those ripoff karaoke bars but it is easy to ring up that much of a bill when you're buying ladydrinks for 3-4 girls for a couple hours.

the guy started screaming, throws the bill in the waitresses face, wildly waving his arms, and refusing to pay.

a couple stout thai bouncers dragged him outside and by the time he hit the pavement, he was getting kicked by tuk tuk drivers, waitresses, bouncers, and even some stranger who just happened to be walking down the street.

if you come over here and act like you jerk, you are running a good chance of getting your ass kicked. including women! this ain't america

just a quick comment/ question. i live in the pi and i am working here in bangkok now and just starting to get a little familiar with how things are here. i had an incident the other night that has me curious. my co-worker and i took a couple girls from soi cowboy and were heading back to the hotel when we were flagged down and pulled over by police at an aparent road check. we were all told to get out and i directly walked away and stood on the curb like i have done in the past in other parts of the world. they searched my co-worker pretty well even as far as smelling the cigarettes in his cig pack. the two girls were searched physically also and bags gone through very closely and id's checked for a few minutes. they didn't bother me until they were ready to go and i just jumped in the taxi.

is this an every night occurance around the city? i assumed they were looking for drugs. and as i found out, on another occasion, there was a 17 yr old girl working in one of the bars in soi cowboy and plainly showed me her bar id. is this normal as well? sure would of been pretty pissed off if the girls we were taking had a little stash of shabu or something and were ****. especially since they came out of a bar.

I can only make one trip to asia next year. Cost is not the most consideration. I would like an experienced Mongers opionon of which is the best place for an enjoyable time, manely with girls, quality lookers.

Just wanted to post a heads up to all the guys in Angeles right now. I was violently attacked on First Street on Saturday Night. I was walking back with my live-in from Chow King after a night of videoke. It was about 1:30 am or so. We were walking back to my place on First Street. I know I should always take a trike at that time of night and I'll never make that mistake again. Anyways, we were both pretty drunk when we walked past 5-6 filipinos guys on the street. One of them said "hey", I turned around and he slammed a rock into my right eye. I fell to the ground and then about three of them started kicking me and beating the shit out of me, while my live in GF was screaming and trying to get them off of me. I offered them my money and my cell phone to stop them beating me, but they didn't take it! Luckily, some guy on a motorcyle rushed up and honked his horn and scared them away.

I was bleeding really bad from right under my right eye and my face, so they guy on the moto took us to the police station. I ended up passing out in the police station and my live in later said she thought I had died. I guess I had lost a lot of blood becuase I had to rest at the station for a while before I could go out with the cops to find the guys who beat me. I IDed three of the six but I wasn't really sure with two of the guys, as these filipinio punks all looked the same to me with their wife beaters, shorts and flip flops. I went to the hospital afterwards to get stitches under my eye. Today I am going to see an opthamologist to make sure there is no permanent damage to my eye, but I think I will be ok, as there is no pain or vision problems.

Anyways, there is much more to this story but I'm not going to get into the details regarding the police reports, prosecutor's office, talking to the family members of the guys, mothers, fathers, cousins, godparents etc. ("they are good boys, trust us!"). But I have learned my lesson to take trikes at all times at night, even if it's going two minutes away to Joliebee. And even during the day now I think I will take Jeepneys everywhere as well.

Just be careful in the area around the Executive Plaza. As I was walking back from L. A. Cafe I was robbed. Manila is much more dangerous than, say, Bangkok. So beware.

A few weeks ago, I was hassled by a couple of bottom feeders on Pedro Gil, near the police outstation …lol. I am fairly tall and fit (for my age) and can look after myself so am used to giving short shrift to the usual shit you get on the street in that locale. But my trouble radar went bleep and I thought that I was been set up for a potential mugging so I made a lot of noise and looked threatening (as much as I can) and the guys backed off and moved on.

No contest for me. I'd go to Thailand. The girls are cuter, in my opinion. The country is much nicer. The food is way better. Manila is actually a dangerous place. I feel completely safe in all parts of Bangkok and Pattaya. Not so at all Manila.

There will be those that disagree with me. But you asked for my opinion. If I were to guess. I'd say 80% of mongers prefer Thailand with 20% preferring the Phils. I will say that if you go to the Phils, go straight to AC do now waste your time in Manila.

Just recently, some 2 weeks ago, I went to HSBC, where I have a primary Premier account. With ID of course.

Asked them to open an account with HSBC Manila for me.
The lady copied passport, asked many questions for filling an online form and told me thats it. Took 30 mins.

Yesterday got a debit card from HSBC Manila, which works also as ATM card.
Also got info about account number and so on.

Today received PIN number for ATM and one for phone banking.
With this I can now register for Internet banking and then
account opening is done.
Pretty easy going.

Thats free advice for you Mr. Fan. I'm definitely not an expert, but have spent quite a bit of time in 3rd world countries and know a shithole when I see one. I have even spent time in Karachi, Pakistan and that comes a close second. I say this with a smile and no offense to you and the CS as I'm just about ready to head out to the Soi Cowboy and get a BJ. Having been to Lagos many many times it is my least favourite place to revisit (unless the company ask me..and pay me a lot). Manila is also bad but at least I find some nice pussy there which I never find in Lagos (Africans not my flavour) and thus the while being a shit hole the girls at least help me forget how bad it is :D

Jakarta sucks but is OK at times, Cairo is a shit hole too IMHO, parts of Pakistan pretty bad as is Calcutta but all have some 'redeeming' factors that Lagos never has
