    Hot Sam,

I think it translates to "I still don't have my passport. The Italian will be back in Sept. Jaco's parents are ok." But, I could be wrong.

    Viktor North,

Exchange rate is roughly P55.00 = $1.00, more or less. Yes, there are quality girls and it could cost more. Somehow, filipinas are not the most photogenic people around and are prettier in person. They are worth travelling halfway across the world.

    Cebu Local,

Welcome back and needless to say we miss your advice and comments in this forum. More power to your business venture.

  3. #664
can somebody translate this for me???

"wla pa gihapon koy passport, mo balik ang italiano karong Sept. Ok, ra ang parents ni Jaco"

    thanks

    Cebu Local,

    Welcome Back!

Missed your sagely advice and always liked your reports!

Sorry to bother again, but can anyone answer my post below?

    Thanks

    Welcome home Cebu Local,

I heard that you won some big travel industry award. Congrats.

I have often thought about availing myself of both the Cathy Pacifics and the Seairs "air passes". Seem like a good way to go.

First off, I just wanted to ask what the exchange rate is? One person told me it's 50P/USD, another says its 25P/USD. I'm confused.

Next, are there QUALITY girls? The kind you look at and go WOW? I'm talking 9/10 and up. Real stunners. Because I looked through the picture gallery, and the girls looked 6/10 tops! Are the stunners non-existant? Too expensive? There are plenty of average-looking girls here at home, no point going across the world for them :)

    hi guys
i decided to drop by for a visit, anyway i did not vanish without a trace,i just got involved with a local philippine website in which i am an active sponsor. speaking and writing tagalog and cebuano helps.well marconista dropped me a line inviting me back to i decided to go back, but i will lurk around first until i get up to speed,to update fd.i got involved in a hotel project in subic in which i am now part owner and i still have the travel agency in cebu and manila.wastrel is correct about the"evil cartel". etc
the air passes are the only way to go,for example seaair has an unlimited domestic travel airpass around the philippines for 300$,there is also an asean airpass.well regards for now and i will try to drop by more often.by the way the philippine department of tourism is moving its head office to cebu as part of a decentralization program.hopefully this will result on better services in cebu

    Wastrel,

    "loathsome publication" ? :)
Not entirely fair. I think the sports section is OK. The bulk makes for good bird cage lining. I used to subscribe to Sunday only just for the travel section as well. I got tired of throwing away so much paper.

    Panther,

Beyond the above, I agree with everything Wastrel has adivsed. I've never paid over $700 for RT LAX MNL coach.

Do not underestimate the power of gossip. There are no secrets in the RP. My friends in Angeles usually know that I'm "in country" within 3 to 4 hours of landing in Manila.

WARNING: There is no sex in this post, just boring airfare stuff.

    Panther,

No, it is not in the ballpark; no, a "travel agent" will not do better for you; and yes, a few people have actually flown PAL, and some of them have even survived the adventure.

For less than the price you were quoted you could get an "All-Asia Pass" on Cathay Pacific and fly everywhere they go for thirty days. On a standard APEX fare (advanced purchase excursion) flying coach from the west coast of the USA to the PI should cost around six to seven hundred dollars. These fares generally require thirty to ninety days advance purchase, only apply to midweek travel, and are only available from a particular form of discount international airfare agency known as a "consolidator."

Without going into too long of a primer on the arcane workings of international airfare, which works in a completely different manner than domestic travel, what you want to know is that airlines, full service travel agents, and some of the best known internet travel sites will not quote you these fares, because they can't. They are prohibited from directly quoting the current real market price by contractual agreement with an international cartel that sets artificially high minimum prices far above the price that would clear the market of the available inventory of seats. After setting aside as many tickets as they figure they can sell at prices similar to what you found, the international air carriers then wholesale the rest out through third party brokers and pretend not to know at what price the bulk of their seats are really going for. If they did not do this most of their planes would be empty. There is much else that could be beneficial to learn if you do much trans-pacific travel, but just know for sure that you can do much better on price for the very same seat with minimal effort and a bit more knowledge of the market.

Here are some current examples of consolidator fares which should brighten your day:

$685.00 SFO direct to Cebu on China Air from
    Farmtours: http://www.psnw.com/~farmtours/airfares.htm

$746.50 LAX to MNL on Eva Air from
    1888DrCheap: http://www.drcheaps.com/

$676.20 LAX to MNL on Asiana from
    Fly to Manila: http://flytomanila.com/

$674.00 LAX to MNL on Eva Air from
    http://www.airlineconsolidator.com/

There are many, many others. I suggest you get a copy of the SUNDAY LA Times (only the Sunday edition) immediately burn the "news" pages of this otherwise loathsome publication, and peruse the small print display ads in the last several pages of the travel section. You will find that dozens of the major consolidators use this venue to post their international fares, and you will get a good feel for the market so you don't get badly hosed when you lay your money down. You don't want to deal directly with the airlines or "full service" travel agents (the kind with glossy brochures to sell you stuff) for anything but domestic connecting flights if you need that.

Opinions on this will vary, but Philippine Airlines is a crappy dirty dangerous carrier that only exists due to massive bribes paid to Philippine government officials to restrict competition to keep it limping along barely in operation. This effort to prop up PAL is the reason you can get a ticket to Bangkok cheaper than Manila, even though the trip to Thailand is longer, and if you fly any other carrier to the RP you will be forced to arrive and depart at inconvenient times even though there is a surplus of available landing slots at the airport all day long. Having said all that, I would not necessarily refuse to fly PAL if I happened to get a fare that was substantially better, but I have never seen this happen except for occasional deals restricted to "Balikbayan" (Philippinos returning from overseas). I believe they do still have the only nonstop direct flight to MNL, and I have developed a high tolerance for third world discomforts, but if this is your first foray into the third world and you are using up your precious annual vacation to do it you may not want to be that flexible, and might prefer any other airline over the vagaries of PAL.

I'm sure others will do a better job of answering your other questions, but you should assume that everything you do will be known by the entire extended family of every Filipina in the province before you are finished doing it. They like to talk, and they are not above having their "cousins" watch you.

    Bon voyage,

    Wastrel

    Hi guys,

Can anyone confirm if the massage place (Mars) has shifted from the Hotel Victoria de Cebu, and is now found somewhere else in Osmena Blvd?

Also, am about to make first visit to Cebu and am interested in any updated reports on massage places (where I can get bbbjcim) that offers good value (that is, around the 500p mark). I've heard Mars, Finland and the massage place in the Fuente Pension House building are possibilities.

Am also interested in knowing if there will be many freelancers operarting in Moalboal beaches during low season of August.

    Cheers

Hey everyone, I came across this board a few months ago and its been a pleasure being introduced to your world. After doing lots of reading, I have decided to pop my cherry in the Philippines :=)

It seems Cebu has a lot to offer and is not too expensive, so that will be the first stop. After reading many posts here in the Cebu section, 90% of my questions have been answered, and I sincerely thank you guys for your contributions (especially Dragon Slayer and Good Enough). My trip will be from September 7-19. If any experienced mongers are in town during that time, I would be happy to meet up and have some drinks. I'll be with a college buddy who loves to party.

I know its still a few months away, but since I'm making the arrangements now, I figured I would get my newbie questions out of the way all at once. I apologize if these are repetitive in any way. Thanks in advance for your help, and happy July 4 to all you American expats!

    1. Flying from LAX to Cebu (with a connect in Manila), the cheapest flight I could find was Philippine Airlines, USD $1,014 (internet booking on expedia). Is this price in the ballpark for those traveling from the West Coast of the U.S.? Could a travel agency get me a better rate? Anyone fly this airline before?

    2. My buddy is very cool, and a riot to hang with. He's also built like a tank, 6'1" and about 290lbs. He's wondering if he'll have any problems with the ladies being hesitant/intimidated by his size, being that many Filipinas are fairly petite.

    3. I'd love to take tons of pics and post them here ASAP, instead of waiting till I get back to LA, but I don't want to take my laptop. If I take digital pics, what would be the best way to get them on WSG? I'm assuming you can't just walk into an internet café and upload a bunch of cumshots without getting a major reaction.

    4. After reading that some guys hooked up with ladies before their trip, I decided to do the same. I met several cuties on Cherry Blossoms website and will eventually choose one to stay with me in Cebu for a few days. I have chosen Cebu Midtown as my mongering base camp. Should I switch hotels when my chick arrives? I don't know how a nonpro would react if she found out I was mongering. Would she find out from anyone in the staff? I'm not paranoid or anything, but my lady may be a local, and I would like to avoid any unpleasant scenes.

    5. With regard to the above mentioned cumshots. Do I have to pay extra for pics? How do you guys handle that?

Well, thanks again everyone, and thank you Jackson for maintaining this site! You kick ass bro.

It's been a long time coming, but relatively soon my job will mean I'm in Cebu for months at a time over the next year or two. I have to be VERY discreet about my goings on. For those of you that have had your own driver for more than a week, would you actually trust him to take you (and maybe a secret other) anywhere you wouldn't want others to find out you've visited? Seems like the only way to keep a low profile is taxis, but I also know that Cebuanos see sexual matters as something to hush up about. It might be fair to say they wouldn't be keen to tell someone your secrets if they know you would be very pissed off if you find out.

Anyone know if "Cebu Local" has vanished without a trace? There are many wise elders on this board who I hope to meet some day ("elder" not by age but by time spent in the Visayas), but when I come to town I'd love to buy him a drink. He seems to know a lot of people in Cebu who I'd like to get to know to help me widen my circle of bed-able chicas.

A comment: [Deleted by Admin] When I was in Cebu, it certainly did seem that there were VERY few westerners that were under 60 and looked like they were there for anything other than vacation time. I'm surprised Cebu doesn't draw more Westerners looking to do business there, although I know this is all changing quickly.

DS asks me, why didn't you get Eddie "to set you up with some lovely 18 y/o's?"

That is a very, very good question. My first evening in "Eddie's office" there were many people at the table, mostly Filipino businessmen. There was also an American guy who came in late. He was 30ish, small business owner, just divorced from a Filipina. He knew Eddie from a previous trip. We talked a bit.

The next night, I went back to ELC with my date (see below) and there's this same guy with an absolutely gorgeous woman. I thought my date was hot, but I just about fell out of my chair when I looked at this girl. I assume Eddie had something to do with this, as DS apparently knows.

My date: She was a college girl that I met as a penpal. She agreed to meet me at my hotel in the afternoon. I left my room unlocked in anticipation, but with the jet lag and drinking / whoring the night before I was a bit tired. I fell asleep just before the appointed time.

I guess I woke after a few hours and there she was sitting at the table doing her homework! I apologized, and, and, and ...I took her clothes off and gave her a good fucking. (Details: skin like chocolate, very slender, but breasts were a nice firm handfuls, inexperienced about sex, but let me do as I pleased). I thought I was in paradise. After our tryst, we went to Eddies log cabin, and only then did I realize someone else was doing even better than I was.

    Ah, memories.

  15. #652
Dragon S is right. The late Eddie took me to Eddie's Log Cabin (ELC). What a night that was!

DS hasn't provided Eddie's last name, so I still don't know if that street sign was really his name...nor do I know if DS actually met the man. Kind of presumptious to call me a "rookie"...although I am new here at WSG. I first visited the Philippines when Marcos martial law was in effect... who's the rookie here? (I guess now everyone can call me an old git).

Eddie told me his age, and later in the back of ELC "my office" he was telling WWII stories. The age and the stories didn't work out and I caught the man in a white lie. He told me a lot of stories, but I'm not sure which ones were true and which were fiction.

    ****
He was in a bank when it was held up. He quickly took off his "Rolex" and slipped it down under the seat cusion of the chair he was sitting in. He had assumed the robbers would lift from the bank customers, but apparently that wasn't the case. Eddie was pretty happy about that, as you might imagine. Well, Eddie walked out of the place and was halfway to his car when he realized his Rolex was still down the back of that chair.
