I would advise against renting a car in Cebu. Taxis are everywhere and cheap so why have the hassle?

I have seen LOTS of chinese tourists lately, if one goes to Casino Filipino you will notice that many of the game tables (Mah Jong & Fan Tan) cater to them (and Koreans) while only one blackjack table exists.

Where was that blackjack table? I don't remember seeing it. Or is the Casino broken up into different rooms and I only saw the room with the slot machines?

To think I was there and I missed the card games? Dang!

Spent four days in Cebu. Stayed at the Raja (formerly Park Place/Garwood). I stopped staying here a number of years ago because it fell into disrepair, however, the new owners have really cleaned the place up. The rate was 1700single/2000double. If you are going to bring a girl back get the double. They will ask the girl to register, but it is no problem. I was treated with the same courtesy or, that is to say, the staff still respected me in the morning. The rate also includes a buffet breakfast and a foot or back massage (no happy ending). A double room entitles you to breakfast for two, if they do not give it to you ask for it.

Did the Clubs on Mango Ave. The Black Hole has new owners, their appearance is somewhat scary if you fear soccer hooligans. They have brought some new energy to the place, but not much.

Exotica had a nice girl with rather large boobs, however, when I inquired about her I was told that “she did not want to bar-fine tonight.” Guess she is independently wealthy. There was a little more drink pressure than last time. When I did not see anything, other than big boobs, I liked the girls withdrew and pounced on the next customer who entered.

Dimples, Papillion, Love City are the same, tourist traps.

A new bar, Sisters (next to Black Hole), was interesting. It had some really nice women and it was very friendly. However, one night all other male customers were young Filipino guys. We all know where that can go when the alcohol takes affect. Noticed a distinct increase in Filipino male customers at the Black Hole also.

Went to the Silver Dollar which again, for atmosphere, was the best place in Cebu. The girls, albeit not all stunners, were friendly, and so was management. At 9 pm the owner came around to remind everyone to order because happy hour was ending. A real straight up place.

Decided to take a trip down memory lane so I went over to the St. Moritz. I walked in and saw four Filipino guys sitting at the bar. It was a shame because a very lovely lady wanted me to stay. Again, being the only Caucasian in a club late at night is not a good idea.

Before leaving I was told the St. Moritz now offers “short-time” rooms @ 650p for three hours.

No sweat. But I am a little embarassed for you that 14 bottles in 12 hours would be a record. Clearly...we hang in different circles.

It's about time for a return trip to the RP to save my sanity (some might say "too late"). And I'm finally planning to make it down to Cebu. I'll be around sometime around the 20th of Oct. Anyone that wants to hook up for a beer or to punch me in the mouth may be accomodated.

I am ReadingTFF but may still have a dumb question or two in the near future.

Thanks everyone. Didn't realize the Asean summit was in Cebu. A friend from PI suggested Boracay or Bohol as a beach destination. The web stuff looks pretty promising. Any suggestions for a nice hotel with extras?

The new bridge may have helped reduce travel time SOMEWHAT, but from Central Cebu (say Fuente) to the beaches on Mactan in 20 minutes would only happen in the middle of the night. My first Filipina GF was from Mandaue and it often took 30 minutes from Mandaue to get to the Mactan beaches. Finally, other than ShangriLa the beaches on Mactan are sosao IMHO. Subic is even WORSE and no way you can call that a beach! Even on the Zambales coast the beaches are mediocre. Puerto Galera is a SMALL bit better (than Sabang is NOT suitable for beach activities at all).

What it appears he REALLY means is beaches with bitches, and White Beach in Boracay is one of the few top caliber beaches with available babae. The GOOD beaches tend to be far from girlie bars.

Most of us do not consider Fuente the Central Cebu area anymore,That was the old center,We use Ayala or the Lahug area as the new center of Cebu.That is like saying Luneta or the Ermita area is the center of Metro Manila.Makati is the center.Regarding Mactan Tambuli,Maribago and Quantum also have decent beaches.Within SBMA Kamayan cove beside Ocean Adventure is a clean white sand beach,That it is located almost 20 minutes drive away from Olongapo City ,actually being located on the Bataan side makes it cleaner.All hands and Officers beach within SBMA are not too bad either.This is reffering to SBMA as opposed to Subic town where all the bars are where I agree the beaches stink.Ayala and Lahug in CENTRAL CEBU is about 20 minutes from Mactan.Mayor Tommy Osmena refers to the area as the new center of Cebu and if it is the center of Cebu for Hizzonor thats the same for me

Thanks for the info, I have written it down for October. Tried to book flights this week, no directs from HK, had to stay a day in Manila, waited a day and flights everywhere in the region went nuts Thialand too. I figured the Chinese holiday will be a mad house, so Im staying in China. Ill come in October or Christmas. Is one better than the other? I hear Christmas is quite but too quite all girls go home for holiday?

The girls traditinally go home on the 24 to 25 th and return before the new year.Christmas does not have too many Chinese tourists,But thats when the Koreans come........
