For those who are bored with the regular bar scene here, and looking for somewhat of a change of pace, try the Pavillion on Rizal Street on a Friday or Saturday night. The place is an interior mall, just off the street, with five or six bars, inside and outside, and a few restaurants. It tends to get packed with people any time after 9 in the evening.

There is a restaurant called Bistro Europa (fairly new) on the left side of the Pavillian and toward the bandstand at the back of the place. I go there frequently with my girlfriend, and on week ends, the entire area seems full of fairly young single women.

Internet Dating: I invested about equal amounts of time communicating
with women through both yahoo messenger and match.com. Yahoo messenger has been

Halo on a Friday Night: I arrived there at 9pm and it was still empty. By
11pm, 4 girls were dancing on the table at the front dressed in street clothes
(jeans). The announcer said there's a dance contest for the girls with a 15000P
reward and the finals are December 17th. Today is just a pre-qualification day.
At midnight, it became crowded inside and both guys and girls were dancing on
the floor. Everyone is around my age, 20-30.

Entrance is 100P for guys with three beers included, or 60P for girls with two
beers included. Despite this, guys outnumber girls, especially before midnight.
A few doors down at the Venue, the posted prices are 100P for both men and
women, except on Wednesday when ladies pay 50P.

Right across from the Venue, there's a large and seemingly upscale club called
club Med. I'm not sure what this club is about, but there appear to be many
private rooms in addition to a common area.

Street Girls: At major intersections in downtown at night, girls ask if
you like chicken and sometimes say "500P only". Quality doesn't seem bad, but I
never tried any because it takes me a whole day just to develop some sexual
attraction to a girl. A deal made on the street is too quick for me.

Nursing Students: Universities in Davao are fully enclosed with tight
security. They are not open college campuses where you can stroll around. This
is true even outside the downtown area at the University of Southeastern
Philippines. It seems much easier and more likely to pick up nursing students at
malls. In the supermarket at the mall, I almost hooked up with a girl without
trying. She asked me to get something she couldn't reach only to start a

KTV bars: Having never been in a KTV bar, I decided to give it a try.
There are countless smaller KTV / videoke bars everywhere in Davao. I tried a
large and a small one. The large place was Korokkan KTV by Victoria Plaza, my
first KTV experience. They have a lot of staff and I had them explain everything
to me. They showed me all the VIP rooms, which they are eager to sell because
they're expensive. Once you agree to a VIP room the minimum bill is over 1700P
after the taxes are added on.

There's a common area where you can order food and drinks. Without extra charge,
you can request songs. You are then given a mic and the music video is displayed
on TV along with the lyrics. You then sing the song for everyone in the common
area to hear. The girl in charge of song requests turned out to be the only
really cute girl in the whole place. Slow songs are easier to sing, but I only
know fast songs, so I chose "Bust a Move" by Marvin Young and later she said
it's the first time she heard that song.

There are a total of 45 girls available for company at Korokkan. At 7pm, I was
given a lineup of about 17. A lady's drink is 280P for 45 minutes of company and
140P for an additional drink for every subsequent 45 minutes. The lineup was not
impressive. One girl seemed okay and I bought her a drink. Later, the total bill
came to 377P because about 50P worth of taxes were added on.

Another bar I tried was the conspicuous Startlett's night club on Bonifacio
street. It's a cross between Hot Legs and a regular KTV bar. There's a 40P cover
charge and one girl at a time dancing on the stage. Unlike the crowded Hot Legs,
there was only one other customer in the bar. He was a foreigner and soon left
with the girl, though maybe she only accompanied him to the door. I was quoted
280P for a lady's drink, 1500P for a VIP room, and there is no barfine. I got
three mosquito bites there within a short time.

Another large KTV bar is the E.T. KTV bar in Sandawa. I went inside there and it
appears comparable to Korokkan. When I walked out again without even entering
the common area, I was confronted by a handsome young boy who began flirting
with me, calling me a pretty boy.

Hot Legs and Moonlight: Hot Legs was crowded with Filipinos. Many of the girls sitting at the tables looked like they were customers, but apparently they were working there. They had a girl taking a shower on stage. There's a 50P cover charge to go inside, so with one drink the minimum bill is around 100P.

Moonlight was empty both times I visited. 5-7 girls sit on the sofa. When I first walked in, they politely ignored me. The atmosphere is very unique for bars. Quiet and relaxing. I barfined a girl named Venus from that bar. Her obsession with money became somewhat annoying after a while. I advise against barfining this girl. PM me if you want to know exactly why.

Transportation and getting around: Everything of interest is close in this city. Even the distance between Sandawa and Moonlight is only 4-5km and can be walked. Jeepneys are more difficult to ride than in Manila. There are many of them and the routes are often confusing. Even locals often have to ask the driver to know which one to take. However, once you know the basics such as Quirino, Boulevard, G. Mall (Gaisano Mall), V Plaza (Victoria Plaza), SM, Ecoland, Cabaguio, Sandawa, Magallanes (same as Pichon), you can look for the place you're interested in and jump in.

I only took the taxi twice, once to get from the airport to my hotel, and once to take a girl home from Moonlight. I left Davao early in the morning and the jeepneys were empty, so I got into one with my luggage and got off at the Ecoland bus terminal, where I took a bus to Cagayan for 400P.

Cost of Living: Life is cheap in this city. I stayed at the Manor Hotel, 750P for a deluxe room. The room looked to me like an American luxury apartment. The bathroom was very nice and spacious although the whole bathroom tended to get wet when taking a shower. The room service is excellent and I was given fresh towels and sheets each day, and the bathroom was always cleaned to perfection. I was charged 100P extra for the day on which I had a girl stay overnight. The house rules state the girl must register, but we just walked in and no one said anything.

I looked at the Larous Pension. There are actually three places with this name all close to each other. The other two Larous places are short-time hotels I believe. Rates are very low for short-time; even 24 hours is only 330P at the Larous place. At the actual Larous Pension, the rooms look like they are not worth the money. The Sampaguita Tourist Inn is nearby and offers better value. A single AC room is 400P there. The building looks much newer and the interior is nicer.

A little about myself. I am married here in the states to a filipina from Mindanao, Mid 30's and have some businesses in Mindanao. We have a plan to move to the Phils in about 16 months. We will be traveling back and forth here to there for awhile though.

I have a suggested business for any of you ex-pats or wanna be's: If your married to a pinoy find some houses in cebu, fix them up and rent them to students or those with a steady job history. Put 10 to a house dormitory style, and with a few properties, you can have a livable income in the phils. Of course check the backgrounds as best you can.

I have not done any mongering but have been to phils 2 times. My first was in Manila with a hotty gf I had before my wife. I was there about a month. The second time i was in cebu and Mindnanao and got engaged to my said wife.

On some nights there I doubt if the Place took in more than P2000 and this added revenue would more than double the Night's proceeds.

The Monster Coffee Shop (MCS) was first reported here by me last May using information supplied to me. I can NOW state that this Place is the biggest ripoff in all Davao. First, the women here are NOT college girls as my former friend reported. As with everything else he was inventing the Post. They are hard core Pros from poor families in and around Davao. Their clientele is strictly wealthy Filipinos and Japanese, Taiwanese or Korean businessman on expense accounts.

Located next to O'Flanagan's I stopped by on several occasions to try my luck with the Girls. I was either ignored, or given the "don't call us we'll call you" bullshit. Galera's, Itme's, Hot Legs & Honey's are total ripoffs for bar fines. I am almost ashamed to tell you the number of times I frequented these places over the past year. On almost every occasion I was the ONLY non filipino in any (exception being when GE was with me or during the Fiesta). I had fun buying drinks for the girls and getting my dick massaged. But when it came to taking them out it was the P 2500 - 3000 for 2-3 hours. When a "Special filipino" (or one who wants to burn his paycheck) needs a qucik fuck/blowjob they are then available for use.

Monster Coffee Shop (MCH) is without a doubt the biggest rip-off ever reported upon on the Board. I visited the Place 5-6 times and was either ignored completely or given the P3000 for 2 hours bullshit. I know one of my Pals has talked of this place quite often. Last August he also confided to me that he never patronized any of the women there, just talked about it.
