It is a bit of an unsettling decision for us who are considering a visit vs those who choose to live in the Philippines.
Please keep us updated and thank you.

Muslim terrorists.
Muslim terrorists.
They don't care who they kill or maim, Filipinos or non-Filipinos. Specifically targeting Davao City to send a message. The bastards need to be irradiated from earth.

A further case of filipinos targeting other filipinos, especially since it was in a local street market.
Unlikely to be many (if any) foreigners there at any time.

Posts: 4050Surprised not to see anything on the board about the bomb that killed 12 and injured about 60 people last night in Davao. The attack, if that's what it was, occurred around the corner from Ateneo University and very close to the Marco Polo. The most rife speculation is that it was engineered by the Abu Sayyaf in retaliation for a huge deployment of Philippine Army troops to Sulu, sent there to eliminate this terrorist organization. The Army has evidently established a ubiquitous presence, and a series of checkpoints has been established.
I'm in Manila at the moment and was intending to return to Davao this afternoon, but have postponed the trip for a day in hopes that road travel there, once I arrive, will be a bit quicker than it is today.

USA charge is $600 to register a foreign child born of an American citizen. Where are those people going to get that kind of money and then jump through other financial hoops too? Then there are the ostensibly simple hoops like satisfactory documentation of parentage.

Posts: 4567Thanks for the directions. I've been told that the DV rolling blackouts are no longer a problem. I'd love to visit Davao again.

Suplados (sometimes spelled Supladoz or Supladohs) is on see. M. Recto Street, which is the street that goes past the Marco Polo and on to Gaisano Mall. The name of the street changes to Laurel in that direction. But Suplados is the other way. From the Marco Polo turn right out the gate and turn right onto Recto. Go about 400-500 meters and it's on the right, same side as the Marco.

Posts: 4567Thanks Mahku, I've always been interested in "writing" bodies. Writing and writhing may be even more interesting. Could you please be more specific about the location.

This place is the former site of a place called Station 91. It's a sort of amphitheater-style live band bar. It has a dance floor that gets packed with writing bodies, thankfully the majority of them female. I already had a date but I saw lots of girl-only tables with phone numbers being exchanged with nearby guys. It's worth checking out. It's on the same street as the Marco Polo, in the direction of Rizal Street.
