Davao has some gorgeous amateurs. I found them very easy to get along with and keen to please in and out of the bedroom. Several only wanted their taxi paid for (about 2 or 300 p return) and even the most demanding stayed as long as I wanted for 1000 p.

Just be prepared that they may not be point and shoot and an introductory date may be required sometimes with a friend in tow.

I hope your timetable works out.

I don't know what your timeline is, but if you're planning a trip to the Philippines in the immediate future you might need to revise your schedule. MetroManila is just beginning to experience what will doubtless be an Omicron surge and will lead inevitably to more restrictions on movement. The rest of the country lags a bit behind Manila but it's also inevitable that the beginning of a new wave will hit all areas over the next couple of weeks leading to more draconian restrictions nationwide. Even now, tourists are prohibited from entry and the Bureau of Immigration has had to "rethink" its plans to re-open the country to foreign tourists. I've had no recent experience in Cambodia but from what I understand it's allowing tourists to enter, or at least it was as of a few days ago.

On the Africa front, Mada is fairly primitive and if you're concerned about the availability of major medical institutions, Kenya might be a better bet, but again, my years spent in Africa ended two decades ago—aside from a brief sojourn of 6 weeks to Kenya—and so my information could be well out of date.

Given the above, I'the suggest you begin your year-long sojourn in Africa, as Kenya, Ghana and Uganda, to name but three, appear to be open for business as usual, or almost as usual. I would advise you or anyone contemplating coming here to wait at least 6 months until the new normal has become better defined. Of course situations here vary from city to city. I understand that Angeles is at least somewhat open for business. However, given the general lack of joy that's the current ambience of the country, I'the again recommend starting in Africa.

I suppose I should have been clearer in my original post. First, I actually typed in the word "naïf" which the self-correcting feature altered without my having realized it. Second, my comments were framed within the context of face-to-face, point and click places such as bars and KTVs. I have zero experience with any online arrangements here in Davao so I'm not surprised that Goferring's experience—as well as those of others—might differ. There's a well-known member of this group with quite broad experience outside of Davao but in other major cities, who routinely does what Goferring has described, and has painstakingly built up a network of providers over a long period. Again, being in a 20 years relationship here, I have no experience in nor any interest in doing the same as it would threaten my relationship. So, to reiterate, I meant to address only the girlie bars and KTVs, and not any other contexts or mechanisms.

As an aside, Davao's rules on bars (no alcohol) and indoor seating (about ⅓ capacity in restaurants) are, I'm sure, having a highly detrimental impact on the places to which I refer. In fact, I've no idea if any of them remain open. The longer this drags on, it's logical to assume that desperation will grow and even more girls will become available on various online portals.

I understand there is no union set price but a punter should know what is acceptable. Otherwise you might be fleecing the girls or end up paying ridiculous prices.

I read GoodEnough's 1000-1500 for an amateur semi-pro but it wasn't clear to me if that is ST or LT. Bit unsure because I read Mr Enternational pays 1000 but that is in Cebu and I suppose ST and Kabulguy 1000 + transport, province unknown.

And what to think about the so called freebies? In Africa I always try to pay because a) You are expected to do so b) She might be embarrassed or afraid to ask. C) She's playing the long game. D) She hopes you will marry her.

In real life I'm also active on dating sites and I know from experience there are few young woman online searching for an older man. 20 yrs difference is more or less the max. I'm in my forties so theoretically I still can pull a younger woman but it's getting harder and she may not be top notch quality. Why would a 30 yr old woman sleep with a 60 yr old man for free without an ulterior financial motive? But if real freebies do exist let me know.
I think you should heed Soapy's advice. This is the Philippines and that means there's no predictability to government policy and no assurance that it will remain consistent. To repeat what I've said earlier: everyone (at least here in Davao) is masked all of the time, even when driving alone in a car. Failure to comply with that rule will result in a quick fine and the overwhelming majority of people here obey it. Restaurants are quasi-open, with indoor dining allowed at about ⅓ of capacity, masks worn at all times except when eating or drinking, and no alcohol may be served. Outdoor venues maintain strict social distancing and all bars are closed. I have no first hand information on the policies of the hotels that remain open, but I imagine they're fairly strict, though I'm guessing that by-the-hour, short-time hotels remain open. I have no information at all about the SW scene since that's never been my thing. However, when I do drive at night I've not observed any obvious presence of ladies looking for business. Much of the action here seems to have moved online and I assume no one would have any problem finding willing short-term companions to take to short-time hotels of which there are many, though again, I cannot confirm that they're open.

I hope your sabbatical doesn't start before Fall at the earliest. The knowledgeable folks in this forum, and especially expats who are in the country, are reinforcing the idea that nobody really knows when fully open travel will return and things will open up. This is the Philippines, so don't base your hopes on policymaking as it occurs in Western industrialized countries. If the country opens up, you probably can't do much better than the Philippines for a sabbatical.

GE and KG are reliable and knowledgeable posters, and their price quotes are probably pretty close, but nobody really knows what the market will be by Fall 2022. Mr. E's reputation precedes him, so he may well get special prices, even freebies, on a regular basis.

As to the expectation of paying, please see WestCoast's post below, in which he quotes and reinforces three other reliable posters about not paying. WC knows mongering norms for the Philippines about as well as anyone.

I know you're correct, and as I just clarified in a PM to ED, I hadn't checked first to see who wrote the post. If I had, I would have recognized the facetiousness of it, but I read only the content and took it as serious. My fault for being unobservant. Written within the context of irony it was a pretty hilarious post.

That is what I paid about three years ago, all night of course. Of course, fee lancers would be all over the place as they need the money. I imagine there would be few checks in the cheaper hotels.

No doubt local mongers would know better. Those who do not monger would not know. I've been in rat infested "bars" there and I doubt they or the rats wear masks. Expecting bottom feeders to obey rules they can avoid in their home turf is silly.

No doubt locals who actually monger can give us the two up.

I've just returned from a free lancer. Good by standards here, not by Davao's standards, alas.

However, I've not heard that any of them have re-opened, and not one of them offers Php2200 all night specials, or at least none that I know of. In fact restaurants here are still restricted to about ⅓ of their former dine-in capacity and masks are required everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. And the rule is strictly enforced.

Since you live there and has been living there for a long time your input is 100 % valid. Some people might have gotten lucky but unless they post a recent trip report with locations, prices etc it is difficult to believe. Do not want fellow mongers jumping in and booking ticket to Davao and get disappointed.

Me personally stick to known places and guaranteed satisfaction.

    You don't understand irony?

What Engine Driver posted is pure irony. That's typical for him from what I have read from him on this forum.

Funny that nobody seemed to notice this irony.
