In a different province here, but similar. Mask mandated lifted by the government 2 months ago, and by malls 4-6 weeks ago. Still 95% (or more) in the malls have masks on. Guards say nothing when I walk in without my mask (nobody says anything). My experience in NCR was the same. Only AC was the outlier.

In my case, I forgot to wear a mask in a large mall here and paid the consequences as. I developed Covid about four days later. I've been vaxxed four tines, and the case wasn't severe but it did reinforce my determination to wear a mask when entering public spaces. I thinks it's just silly not to do so and, as you said, here in Davao, most people are masked in public places.

Dunno amigo. I screwed myself so hard, I left my guard down so long that my best one slipped into serious GF status. This is what inspired my recent Get a Pimp post. Haha. Soon as I figure out how to get my paws on some of this hot stuff I'm seeing everywhere, I'll report back on how easy or not it is getting her past the front desk. (There's also an entry gate they set up in front with a guard you need to pass first, rather than walking in where the cars come in). So there's theoretically two checkpoints.

I'd be less concerned about getting her in than I would be about the bamboo telegraph. Last place I stayed, they fired every one of the guards. In fact I think they changed the guard company because they couldn't keep their mouths shut. I think some of them were even putting the make on some of the guests coming through.

Can you expand in how good / bad you found the Avida?? I've often considered staying there for longer trips. General conditions? Visitors? Good location? That sort of thing??

Avida is a good place to stay man but yeah, they are a bit strict. I registered my girlfriend as my guest and she can come and go as she pleases. (As I please, rather). She's got a valid ID. I'm not questioning the other poster's experience but it seems to me that a national ID or a postal ID would be fine. Most Filipinas don't have a passport because you need about a dozen requirements to get one which all cost a little bit of money, and each step has 15 sub steps, and each of those steps have a couple more steps.

Try to get a high floor with a view. I've stayed in building one facing south on the 19th floor and I've stayed in building two facing Samal and to the north on the top floor. Clean rooms, good workbench (bed). The pool is no good because it's on about the fourth floor and it's mostly in the shade. And there might be limits to the times of use, Magallanes Residence has a better pool. But a lot of the rooms are seriously rundown, and you might get a barking dog or two below.

The location of Avida is good (CM Recto). It's between Gmall (Gaisano) and San Pedro Plaza, where tons of hot young girls conjugate and take selfies. Near the busy downtown too. Also it's close to De Bon de Koe, maybe the only good restaurant left in town. The permanent closing of Bon Apptit thanks to Covid was the worst tragedy to ever hit this town in my opinion.

The Leticia opposite People's Park is starting to get old but is definitely girl friendly. All of my Davao reports here were from there. It's a good location with lots of food, malls, areas of interest within walking distance. Note that there are 3 Leticia's in town but the other two are in totally different areas and business centers.

I should have also added that it's super convenient for meeting girls. Everyone knows where People's Park is and it makes a convenient excuse to tell parents etc. Being so close, it's easy to have the girls go there then just walk across to meet them when they arrive. No waiting around, no shows etc.

First Davao is still very strict masks etc compared to rest of Philippines. Met a few girls dating, found mine to very conservative. Anyhow, looking back on the eight years I've lived here pre Covid, I can say a key to success here would be to have a good fixer. I know, some will say fuck you, you're full of shit and you're an idiot. . The beauty of the Philippines is you don't have these bullshit pimps; Middle man scammers wrecking the place and ripping you off. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a chick that's connected with Ascension College students. Or Ateneo. Or Holy Cross. Or University of Mindanao. Or any of the 40+ others.

I did a lot of work on my own without any help. I had well over 1000 phone numbers. At one point I had 645 new messages on my phone from different numbers that I didn't even bother to open or return. I was an approaching motherfucker. I'm not afraid to talk to chicks, and give them my number. I had my stations set up all over town in key locations where you're swarmed in gaggles of hot young girls. I'the hit up sales ladies in every mall. I'the hussle the streets of Uyangaren. But as long as I am within striking distance, they're busy focusing on something other than dropping their panties on my floor. So I'm going to answer my own question, the only open bikini bar that I saw was the main hot legs in San Pedro street, the rest of hotlegs / bikini bars were closed, though their signs were still there and the girls in San Pedro hotlegs told me they predict them to reopen next year. Overall the downtown P4P scene is much less than what it used to be pre-covid. I know it's not like it was Pattaya or Angeles, but there was some action. Now the hotlegs San Pedro (the only open bikini bar) was almost empty on a Friday night!
