This is definitely a spot worth checking into for those of you contemplating a trip to Davao.

Merlion 1: The reason girls head for Manila is for the economic opportunities there, that just don't exist here. You can do the Manila-Davao round trip for about $100 and there are several flights a day.I'm finding though that the more I go to Manila (which is often) the more I prefer it here. I have been reading the last few weeks with interest regarding comments about meeting people on the net in Davao. Like MD, Yahoo etc. I note that DS seemed to think a couple of these were not going so well over an issue of dollars.

It seems like the founders of davao are generous guys. So I wonder what are the warnning signs with woman and when you get out. Also question whether there is not a danager in chatting too much in between visits, just my own little bit of advice. I think chatting is a dnager on the net it is hard to avoid those money issues. For myself prefer email contact and may be a handphone number to send an sms from time to time. I have some conversations with one girl and the header gets words worse each email and so does the amounts she owes, I give her advice and that is the best I can do for now.

I have managed so far to get my share of contacts for my visit in May, but it has taken a bit of time and also a fair amount of distarction. Looking forward to further news and updates. I hope some of the others did make it down to davao and look forward to their feedback before I am there in May.

Well, I just returned from the Philippines. I spent one night in Manila, and 5 nights in Davao. I stayed at the Casa Leticia as suggested by DS and it was a nice, central, and cheap location.

I arrived around 6 p.m. on Friday evening and went straight to the hotel. As suggested from earlier posts, always make the taxi drivers use the meter, the driver quoted me 150 pesos to go to the hotel, and I declined and asked him to use the meter and it cost 70 pesos to get there. Everyone is out to make tourist pay if they don't know any better.

So I relaxed at the hotel, gave GE a call and he couldn't make it,(he later told me that he went to Hotlegs with his friend) so I strolled down to the corner store around 9:30. I got a beer and sat down at the table. There were some people there, but mostly guys. I saw the nursing students, but they were accross the street at a restaurant, and all of them headed home. A group of 5 gay guys sat down at the table next to mine and started talking to me. I'm not homophonbic, and they were nice so I chatted with them a while. They promised to set me up with some of their friends so I gave them my number. (they actually called me later with some of their nursing friends but I wasn't able to attend)

Around 11, I gave up on the place and headed to the club at the Apo View (It's called "Liquid"). They had a 100 pesos cover, but you got 100 pesos in drinks. I went in and it was packed, had a few drinks there, but the scene seemed very young and rich and I didn't get any good vibes from the girls there.

I finally bailed out of that place around 12:30 and hopped in a cab. I couldn't remember the name of the strip joint (Hot Legs) so I asked the driver, he suggested I go to the casas.....bad move on my part trusting the taxi driver...... He took me to a few casas (small houses with girls in them) I went to 3 different ones and there wasn't a hot chick in any of them. But it was late so I settled on a native looking girl at the last place. She was ok, but afterwards she started giving me the sad story of how her kid needed milk, blah blah blah. So I gave her 500 pesos and sent her packing. Plus the 2,000 fee (I didn't bargain with the pimp) it cost me 2,500.

I got up Saturday and wanted to walk around. I didn't make it 200 yards from the hotel before I met 2 amazing girls, both hotties with amazing bodies, one was 18 the other 20. I spent my last day and night with the two girls. They took me to the airport and I was on my way home.

Sorry to knock the corner store, but I went by there most nights, and only the last night before I left (a Tuesday), were there a lot of good looking girls there.

I understand your point about quality of life issues and, as I said, I think that's why I prefer it here to Manila. OIf course, it may also be that I am rataionalizing as my job is here and not in Manila.

Thanks to DS's girlfriend Annie, I have broken into (no pun intended) the Nurses' circuit here, and its definitely worth the effort. These girls are "normal" and intelligent, meaning you can actually have somewhat of a discussion with them before and after. The one with whom I have been spending time is also very funny, which is a real plus for me.

I went to Hot Legs on Friday with a buddy from Manila. Wound up with a spectacular woman and found out that (1) the so-called bar fine there includes the lady's time and (2) unlike P. Burgos in Manila, it's all highly negotiable. We started at PhP 3,000 and wound up at !,500. Of course, now I have her number and I won't have to go through that again.

I do not think you are going to find broad band at any hotel here. You can find it in the cafes, and I have it in my office, but the hotels still rely on phone connections which typically connect at about 21,600.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply, and sorry if my remarks about Davao sounded as if they had a negative connotation -- that was certainly not my intent. Honestly, I am interested in evaluating places to which I would consider relocating to for a considerable period, so access to pussy is just part of the equation, definitely not the primary factor. I'm looking for a place with good quality of life but access to the benefits of a fair-sized city (I'm a fool for the city, always have been).

In any case, you mentioned in an earlier post that you could get very good rates at the Marcopolo Hotel, which is almost certainly where I would stay because broadband internet access is crucial to my livelihood and I am not really part of the budget-conscious crowd (within reason, of course). Do you have any further comments on this, or should I PM you on the topic? My guess is that my initial stay in Davao would be perhaps a week, so I'm not sure if that would qualify for any great discounts.

Thanks for the detailed response, I've already made some progress on the internet, although I think my primary focus will be to meet girls out and around the city.
