Be cautious around expats when you first go to anywhere in Asia. The first time I got scammed in Asia was by an expat I met in a bar. You meet a lot of great expats but you will also meet a lot of scumbags. Don't let your guard down just because they seem like a nice guy.

The foreigners that reside here treat visitors with some skepticism as we are always just passing through. I've learned lots form these guys about the cost of living, the barangay life and chismis. As visitors I don't get keyed into this.

Bourbon and Maison are next door to each other in P Burgos Street in Makati. Previous to pandemic, Bourbon / Orleans was on Burgos at the corner of Badajos St (see pic). At the time, next door to Bourbon was Hollywood bar. Both were girlie gogo bars. Both were shuttered during pandemic. Bourbon temporarily re-opened around May / June of this year, and after a month or so it was renamed as Maison. Maison now sits on the corner. A few months ago, the defunct Hollywood bar was reconstructed and re-opened as Bourbon.

While Maison is a full-on gogo bar, with 50+ girls and a stage they dance on, Bourbon has re-opened with a different twist. There is food available, its indoor / outdoor, and there is a live band nightly inside. It gives off the vibe of being a live band place, much like Cubana Cafe up the street. However there are half a dozen girls there nightly, usually sitting outside. They often nearly whisper to entering single male guests "Hi sir. . . " trying to get your attention.
