nicely written report, joe. i used to love slumming it down there and wrote a couple of reports on the area. i tried to retrieve them but they are of a few years vintage now and the search engine starts huffing and puffing if you ask for something much over a year old. i'm surprised that you found so much daytime action there as i thought it catered mainly for night time punters after the market has closed down and the local ktv bar scene had fired up. the quality of the girls are much better at night but they are choosy and many don't go with foreigners. it is also at night that you have to be wary of **** girls as they are very common, some barely pubescent. it may or may not have something to do with the proximity of chinatown. the area was gentrified under the last mayoral regime but has obviously fallen back into disrepute under the present administration. it surely is an interesting area and is relatively safe although its best to go down there with a wingman or two.

years ago that area was relatively safe and i know people who lived nearby. i know it fairly well. it is near the famous quiapo church and the city jail is just up the street. i would still consider going there if i had a local or better two or three for company and i would take a taxi to a specific building and not wander around on the streets.

mongering in that area is looking for trouble, even during the day. it is not so much what can happen on the street even though the general area has been known for armed hold-ups. and if the gunmen see a foreigner, they will always target him rather than a local the because they know he is more likely to have more money than a local. i personally know several foreigners and locals who were held up with guns in that area in the daytime. they were not mongering. there are several shopping areas nearby, including chinatown. 168 mall, medical wholesaler area and central market.

add to that the question. what happens when you go out of sight to do the biz with your chosen girl? you can be held up in the small street before you even get to the room. perhaps you might like the adventure of hunting in that area but don't make a habit of it because the local gangbangers will make you their mark. there is a reason why you were probably the only foreigner there. going there at night is just plain looking for trouble.

even though i have not personally experienced the quezon city street scene (you can read about it in this forum) , from what i heard i would say it is far safer than the area around carriedo which is near to some of the poorest and toughest neighborhoods in manila.

i apologize in advance for typos but i am typing this on my ipad and it's hard to correct mistakes.

i arrived in manila a couple of days ago and have been hanging out with a cherry blossoms website lady. i must admit she's a nice lady (35 years old) and the sex has been fantastic. but she had to attend to her teenaged kids today which gave me some free time alone. i didn't want to bring a freelancer back to my ermita hotel so i decided to go find some short-time action in carriedo.

i arrived there at around 11 am. i was surprised at how many women were available, i would guess i spied at least 25 possibles. previous reports have talked about young and possibly ****d girls working there, but all i saw were women between 22and 45 years old who were either cute and fat, ugly and thin, or ugly and fat. no stunners at all, nothing above a 5 on my scale. but there were certainly a fair number of doables based on my less than exacting standards.

as i exited the station, i walked down the west side of the street toward recto avenue. available women were rep001tered around close to the sogo hotel. basically any woman who is just standing around with nothing to do is a potential candidate.

there are other women standing near the two short time hotels on the east side of the street. from what i could tell, there were no women north of recto avenue.

i talked to around 8 women and asked about prices. they ranged from 500 to 1000 pesos. i talked to one old hag of a tout who quoted me 1000 for each of her girls but dropped it to 700 easily. 500 was the most common price offer. i selected a 30 year old light skinned pinay who was standing near the national bookstore. very pretty face but a flabby belly. 500 pesos plus 130 for the room. she had a condom and the room was surprisingly clean. we took individual showers hand then she gave a no-condom bj and covered sex. we spent around 30 mins in the room. no kissing but she was nice and didn't rush things. she did try to extract an additional 500 pesos right before starting the bj but she backed down after i complained.

if you're the type of guy who has to have a looker as a hooker, then don't venture down there. but if all you want is to get laid during the day for a reasonable price and in a convenient atmosphere, then carriedo might be for you.

total cost was 654 pesos. 24 pesos for the lrt ride. 130 for the room and 500 for the deed. no tip asked and none given. no drama and except for the pre-bj upsell it was straightforward. i would not venture into this area after dark, but i felt safe there during the day. i' the definitely repeat.

Prices have not changed. Rogues 1600, few bars next to Rogues between 1600. 2500, rest is the standard 3800 or is it 3900 (some will discount BF with ladies drinks purchases some won't) but thats the price. Girls can ASK whatever they think the punter will pay but almost all will agree to 2500 LT which in Manila means around 6-7am so she can get back home. Depending on negotiation skills price can go north or south and so can the time she leaves. If you are on budget best way is to hook up outside the bar after her shift.

More the Koreans than the Japanese. The Japs have long been mongering in the Philippines and to their credit set up their own places. I never saw one in Mabini when all the go-go bars were there and once Freddie Lim sent everyone packing to Edsa not too many Japanese there too. (Interestingly there are dozens of Japan-centric KTVs and hostess clubs in Ermita and Malate; it remains a mystery to me why they remained whilst the Westerners' clubs were shuttered.)
