Alternative #1: Stay at City State Tower on Mabini Street in Ermita, and you can get a ticket to Batangas Pier in the lobby in the morning. Walk across the street, and bus leaves at 8:00 a.m. Room is about 2,500 php and round trip bus ticket is about 700.

Alternative #2: Stay at Grand Prix Hotel next door to City State at about 1,500 a night. Walk next door in the morning, grab bus ticket and walk across the street to the bus. Economy room is small, but it has air con, TV and large CR.

Both places have free breakfasts, but they're not so good. Both places are around the corner from G Point Bar and next door to Dakota Cabin for good eats.

    Enjoy your trip.

    Any intel on Ole please?
Thanks, Red. Can't tell you about Ole; I don't dine out too often (the traffic!), and when I do it's usually Korean, Thai, or Indian. I've dined at Adriatico twice, and all I remember of it is the Sans Rival cake, a fantastic Filipino dessert. The Remedios Circle area has been my main stomping ground for a few years now, and I don't hit ground until 11 pm or so and then party to 5-6 am. If I started early I'd be shattered. Once in while I visit LA Cafe, Burgos, etc. with out-of-town visitors, but I've found my hapenis with dating site girls and then hitting the clubs / live music venues with them. Some girls are wary of going to the area because of perceived danger or their own snobbery. Also in the area is the Library, the trans comedy club, which kind of fun if you have a high tolerance for being embarrassed. But when the comedians decide to do karaoke for a few hours it becomes oppressively boring.

A lot of Korean restaurants and KTV / hostess clubs in the area. There's also Zzzyx, Cowboy Grill for decent bands, and Bellagio Square is a short walk away. Across the street from Cowboy Grill a lot of restobars put plastic tables and chairs in the street at night; a good way to enjoy a few drinks and check out all the girls walking around. The Remedios Circle area is great place to spend a night.
    Great information Huts.

I drove along Adriatico today and I noticed that on the Adriatico / Remedios corner the old Cafe Havana venue (the original) has opened as a reincarnation entitled "Ole".

I noticed it seemed very similar (from the outside anyway) to the original Havana and I wonder if it is styled in the same way. It is not yet listed on Google or Trip Advisor. I haven't checked further yet.

This area was my favorite hang-out between 1996 and 2001 when I first started living in Manila and I loved the old Cafe Havana before it closed and moved to Greenbelt.

Given the other spots you identified in your post Huts, perhaps this area is about to become (or has already become) a new night-life central?

    Any intel on Ole please?

There are also a few gay dance clubs that can get a mixed crowd. Perhaps Chelu Bar? In the same area is Bocobo St; just before the street ends at Robinson's Mall there's a entertainment complex called Bellagio Square that has a few bars and a club, IIRC. You didn't mention being near Manila Bay (the water, not the club) but there's another entertainment complex called Harbor Square near the Cultural Complex of the Philippines (CCP). I don't recall seeing nightclubs there, but it's been a while. At the City of Dreams is the Chaos Nightclub, but that's a bit longer drive.

Be careful with the Escort Sites, most of these are scams bait & switch. Service is expensive and quality of service at the lower end of the scale. I tried against my better judgement. You can read about it in one of my earlier posts.

At one time I went to a place that had a ton of FL's called Manila Rendezvous. It has a hidden entrance on the north side of Padre Faura St between Mabini and Del Pilar. The place was large, had a band, an seemed to cater to Taiwanese types. I always got lucky there. It has been maybe 10 yrs since I was there and maybe the name has changed.

    Solo Clubbing

When in Manila I regularly go clubbing solo. Generally my rule of thumb is, the busier the bar the better. Go to Chaos or Valkyrie when they have a big party on and it's not going to be easy to pick off a few strays from the herd (especially as the night gets later). If you go to a smaller club (like Prive) you're more likely to stick out if you're solo.

My general MO is stand by the bar, order a few drinks, buy the bartender a few (so you get served quickly as the bar gets busier). Generally the girls will come to you, and if the bar is busy you can be "gentlemanly" by moving out of the way and give yourself a chance at a conversation. Of course, a lot of girls will be in groups in and around the tables, so you may want to take the occasional wander.

Valkyrie / Revel in Bonifacio Global City are your best bet, the demographic is 20's and on a Friday / Saturday is generally always packed. Palace Pool Club is part of the same complex but is hit and miss. Raven is not a bad size but the music is always so damn loud it's virtually impossible to talk over it to talk to anyone. As I mentioned, Prive is smaller but if busy is generally a pretty good hunting ground. Chaos at City of Dreams is a great hangout if busy, and an utter waste of a journey if empty (hard to predict which will be which).

I'm back next week and interested to check out some of the newer smaller clubs in Makati.

In general, I know how the game works in clubs and elsewhere that are generally non-P4 P venues. I was actually wondering if anyone had any specific clubs in mind that might be better (or worse) for a solo night out, whether from the perspective of logistics, safety, cost, friendliness of staff, layout of the venue, etc. Without a great deal of time to explore the club scene, I was seeking any specific feedback. Maybe there isn't any good answer to that, which is fine. Just putting out a feeler.

    !
Just install wechat and sit back and enjoy. Or, open up a free Tagged account and enjoy.

I've never used any escort site in Ph. There is no need.

I'll be in AC in August if you are up that way.

    Manila trip

    Greetings everyone!

I am planning a trip to Manila this coming August.

I'll be going through the different options (La Cafe area, KTV / spas, dating sites, escort sites) and writing a report on each one when I get back.

I was RTFF and was wondering if there are any current info on things, specifically the escort sites like manilacourtesans.com. Anybody have experience using sites like those recently and any tips for successful mongering in all the other places.

    Thanks in advance!

The beauty of it is you don't need to keep calling over a waiter to take your next order. I've yet to encounter a club that won't hold a bottle for you, and this even includes LA Cafe and the Cowboy Grill. Always ask first, though. Keep in mind that where consumable charges are levied for a table you'll be subject to that charge the next time you visit, which means you may build a little collection. In my experience I've had a few clubs I frequently patronise waive it on less busy nights. I tend to go clubbing where the table charges aren't too high, say p2000 vice p10,000. A bottle of Absolut, Captain Morgan, Johnny Walker Red, and Jack Daniels is usually between p2000-p4000, but the prices skyrocket for Cristal champagne at p40,000 and Dalmore 25 years at p100,000 - the club will validate your Ferrari's parking when you order the Dalmore, so you're saving money there. (Another good deal is pitchers of cocktails, such as margaritas, but that's more commonly available at live music places than night clubs.) I'm not a palutan eater, but if you're with some Filipinos it's kind of expected, and that's p300-p1200.

The best bottle & mixer deal at clubs is Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and cola. That spiced rum complements cola nicely, and the girls will drink it without complaint. Sometimes the lower-end clubs fuck up by forgetting to order limes. By bringing a girl with you clubbing, you can task her with carrying a few limes in her purse, and also Heinz 57 packets because banana ketchup is horrible.
