I had a 2 week trip to ASIA and decided to split it, 1 week in PHIL and 1 week in THAI. Here is the report for PHIL.

P5 k and p10 k are the normal maximum limits at ATM's in Philippines (its a cash-based culture, with low fees for each machine's own customers, but not for you as you are not a customer). You will get hit with a machine-fee of p250 ($5 USD), and probably your own bank will hit you with a $5 USD 'Out of Network' fee (for not using one of their machines)....

Most focus on ATM fees but I've found the bigger cost of using home cards is the poor retail FX rates. Exchange a reasonable amount over a holiday and it soon adds up.

I've used Wise cards and the savings make a difference. It also helps that they can be used for pretty much any currency.

Ugh, this topic has been hit so many times. One more: Take doxycycline while you're in country. It is commonly prescribed for months at a time for skin conditions and it will catch bacterial infections before they develop.
