I agree with wastrel,It has to be put in perspective.After all not EVERYBODY earns in euros.A secretary,Bank Teller,Sales lady all earn less then 500 pesos a day.Pay according to your means what you want.If you earn in euros and want to share,Good for you and maybe you will earn good karma etc.If you pay the local rate,good for you also,You are being thrifty.The bottom line different strokes for different folks

There are many excellent reasons to want to try to respect LOCAL prices as well as other customs, several of which can also involve concern over the negative effect on local economies and individuals of acting as if one is in London or Toronto or Los Angeles.

The exchange rate in Euros or Dollars or Yen or Marks has absolutely no relevance to the matter whatsoever. None.

The amount in question is a LOT more than a twelve hour day's wages in the local economy, and it is definitely not at all unusual, as many people have reported and I have experienced many times, but whether it is appropriate to the particular situation or not really depends on the circumstances.

This is not really intended as a judgement on the appropriateness of the particular transactaction referenced in that particular post, or on the post itself, since I don't know the nature of any understanding reached or the details of the encounter described, and I really don't want to, given the distateful odor on this section of the forum for about a year now after the launching of the childish narcissistic flame wars which sent it straight into the toilet and have kept it in the sewer ever since.

If the girl accepts 500 pesos its her fault for not making the deal beforehand. Its been said before that most people dont know how much 500 pesos is to a filipino. Check out the yearly average wage of a filipino. You dont give many details, he probaby bought her drinks, maybe even breakfast in the morning, perhaps a tip.

Its also been noted that in AC the price is usually 1000 pesos for all night. The girl only gets 500 pesos after mamasan takes her cut. Your relegating thousands of mongers to sick status. Think about it. If its ok in AC, why is it so bad in LA Cafe if a girl accepts it? Dont tell me she was an innocent little girl who knows nothing of the trade please. Take a look around LA Cafe and see the number of women as compared to men, she's lucky to get picked up at all. Whats better, 500 or nothing?

I expect all the guys who know the girl only gets 500 pesos in AC to cough up the other 500 if you are bleeding so bad about it. Thats only for the guys who have a problem with the going rate, of which there are apparently not so many. Maybe they should raise the prices in AC to 2000 pesos so the girl can get 1000? Why not 3000? Guess what would happen in AC? The volume of business would decline and many girls would be out of work because guys would stop going and then everyone in the AC mongering business would suffer greatly.



As I have said before, pay what you want, just dont be a sucker. This post is not directed at anyone in particular, just as my first post in this whole thread was not, just my opinion.

This is not a flame so dont take it as such. Who is this little girl? Maybe you can set her up with guys who will pay more, perhaps even you out of the goodness of your heart. It does sound like a bit of a strange post, timing and all since this 500 peso thing has been argued to death. Maybe you should post this on the Angeles City board since the girls there get 500 pesos for all night and see how it goes over on that board.

Its been brought up time and time again that the ladies only get 500 in AC after the house takes its share. Why its seems to be no big deal to anyone who cries about it in Manila is a mystery to me. What about the girls in the street who offer 200 pesos for massage? If a girl offers 500 should we turn it down and demand to pay 1500?

Harvey: This was a babe looking for a pick up. Any time she came near me, I stared down at my shoes and prayed to Holy Jesus she would pass me by. She also made a point of staring, Clint Eastwood style, into guys' eyes. Many of the other women there were ok as I am not too fussy. But the LA Cafe is not my style. I was just in Manila for a few weeks and I must played golf 3 times a week. I've been lucky enough to meet some guys that play 2-3 times a week and belong to several country clubs. But that not what I'm posting about. Some of the guys I know took New York Pinoy and I to a club called Bartolina in Cubao. Most EDSA girls prefer short time, and many will not even offer long time - this is not Angeles. Most cuties start arriving around 8:00 pm. The best time to arrive is about 7:45 so you will have first shot at the hot ones when they come in. It is not unusual for the best girls to get barfined within minutes after taking the stage. There are several short time hotels right across the street. The best is Victoria Court. It is 600 Pesos for short time, as opposed to several in the 400 - 500 pesos range, but it really is worth the $2 difference. You would really have to be a down and out Filipino to chose a dump at 500 pesos, when Victoria Court has very nice rooms for 100 pesos extra. Make sure you tell the taxi driver "victoria court Luneta", just accross the street, as some will take you to Victoria Court Malate to get a bigger fare.

If you are going to be in Manila for any period of time you can just stay at the Copacabana Hotel which is directly across the street from EDSA. I remember looking out my window and seeing the place and saying, "holy shit, I didnt think I was this close!" I dont personally know of any short time hotels, but others may. You can get a great deal at the Copacabana, its a very good hotel for the price and it has a great swimming pool to entertain your many new friends. I dont remember exactly what kind of deal I got there when I went, but it was around 1200 to 1500 pesos on the top floor. Its around 15 minutes from LA Cafe and maybe 30 to Makati during non rush hours. No problemo with chicas at all.

You can get short time at EDSA just like anywhere else. I never did a short time there but I would imagine that it depends on the quality of the girl and what she is willing to take. Dont forget the bar fine as well. Dont know if the bar fine is less for short time but its worth asking and bargaining for it.

It can get expensive at EDSA if you go for a really hot girl. I would try my luck at LA Cafe and get a decent girl there for all night for 500 pesos, or whatever you want to pay. Remember, you dont have to bring up money in the LA Cafe. If she doesnt bring it up then no need for you to either. Just take her back and start banging.

One guy mentioned that there was some kind of known price for ST and LT in LA Cafe. Sort of like a union set price or something. Thats hogwash as many guys have attested to.

Anyway, when I was in EDSA I was quoted 1000 to 1500 for barfine, then anywhere from 1500 to 3000 for long term. I met a girl there and she was getting off in a couple hours, it was my very first night and she came over and I ended up giving her 1500 in the morning as I knew she would probably have thrown a fit for anything less and she delivered the merchandise up all night long and in the morning as well. Excellent first experience. Dont forget to try and meet the girls after their shift, you can skip the barfine then.
