Those that we should shun are not usually known to us. They come in several categories:

1) Newbs who would not want to overpay, but do because of a lack of knowing the regular prices.

2) Weekend warriors, who are aware they are paying high-end and don't care.

3) Gents who can easily throw lots of cash around and not miss it. The don't comparison shop. When I need a toothbrush in a hurry, I don't care if I'm buying it from a high-end grocery store for p200, or a cheap Gaisano for p49. First grocery store in sight gets the sale, no wasting time shopping if I see what I need right now.

Maybe other categories also. You and I won't be able to stop any of that.

There is some real truth to this. I normally give Wilma (not real name) p2000 for LT. The Philippines is a very strict Catholic country and the people have very high moral standards. They are religious and God fearing and girls generally remain chaste before marriage. Prostitution is also illegal. You will not be able to bring a local girl up to your hotel room unless you can produce a marriage certificate. Please do not offend the hotel staff. Not a good time to come to Manila. My hotel in Pasay that I booked & paid for 3 months ago is kicking me and everyone else out tomorrow. Yeah for my last night in PH I had to get another hotel.
