Smoke is readily available, but you have to be CAREFULL. Philippine law does not differentiate between drugs, only the quantity. So, the punishment for a small amount of weed is exactly the same as the punishment for a small amount of heroin (5 to 12 years I think). Bribes can vary between a couple of hundred US$, to $20, 000 or so if charges are filed and you need to bribe the prosecutor (rare, but can happen if you get caught at an airport, for example). Also, all the weed out here is CRAP. It will get you stoned, but it is very low grade stuff.

Yes, this is my experience 99 out of 100 times when you buy on the street. The weed (or anything else) will be LOW GRADE CRAP!!! So unless you know somebody, socially or through legitimate business connections, you will be buying garbage and risking a hell of a lot in doing so.

I know this kind of advice falls on deaf ears. Some guys just think they are invincible, but the local police know who is selling to tourists, so you mark yourself every time you start to negotiate with the shills. And any time the police want to raise some money they will go out and bust some idiot tourist. It’s like picking a ripe mango off the tree. The big risk is you get busted by some hardass who has a personal vendetta against gringos. Then you go straight to jail and the big shakedown will begin. To me, the reward - shitty dope is not worth the risk (even if the risk is small in certain areas). If I want to get high, I stay in the USA where I have connections that go back 20 years or I go to Amsterdam where it is legal and potent.

We do this because there is nothing like getting stoned and then having some great sex. For some of us, it is worth the risk. In fact, I also do ecstasy and cocaine out here. Why? Because here is my typical night out in Angeles:

1) vaporize some killer indica bud in my hotel and do about a third of a high grade E pill (not the local crap, but pure MDMA scored in San Francisco).

2) Hit the bars in AC and have a great time because I am flying!

3) A couple of hours later, I will do a line or two of cocaine to keep me going.

4) After I have found my girl and brought her to my room, I will get stoned again and bang her brains out.

To some, the above routine would seem crazy. Risky, sure, but fun. Absolutely!

I'm headed for Manila in February and have been RTFFing quite a bit. One thing I haven't seen is any info on the local custom/culture regarding herbal refreshment. I know there is quite a range of reaction across SE Asia anywhere from a slap on the wrist to beheading. Where do the Phils stand? Not that it would change anything on my agenda but knowledge is power, Grasshopper. It seems that with so many American servicemen there for so long it would not be a big deal but I certainly don't know that. Any insight is appreciated...........LDP

I used to take my chances by getting it from a cab driver I knew, and then from an expat once I got settled out here. If you are like me and really enjoy a joint with your barfine, then you need to accept the fact that you will be facing some risk when you buy it out here. Before I lived out here, I would smuggle in just enough for my two week vacation. I would vacum seal it and hide it inside my laptop mouse. Also, all the weed out here is CRAP. It will get you stoned, but it is very low grade stuff. A pocket vaporizer is very usefull because it allows you to smoke all the weed you want without any smell. I use an iolite unit. I can smoke in my car or the bathroom of a hotel, and there is absolutely no smell. I'll even sometimes use it right in front of my girl. I tell them it is an asthma inhaler, and they have absolutely no clue.

Yes, lots JP, but its mostly of the local karaoke variety, concentrated on A-Z Road. Girls in these are available for p4p but not for barfining (you must get her CP No and arrange to meet up later).

Walked into one new bar near the circle one night, sat down, ordered a drink and looked round and then wondered why there were only men in the bar and they were all blowing kisses at me? Tell you, I surely beat the Guinness world record for downing a bottle of SMB!

Got back from the PI about a week ago. Before I left here I saw a post about Nympho Anna having broken up with her b/f. I was fortunate to get her number from Asian Westerner (thanks again). I sent her a text upon landing and with a few hours we were comfortable in my room at the Pan Pacific. All I can say is WOW, she definitely was fun , she is very well endowed for a filipina and her eyes, well just say I've never seen eyes like hers on a filipina either. She stayed probably 12 hours or more, i lost track and I was wore out after.

Thanks guys for the responses. It's especially nice for a young guy like me to hear what well-respected veterans have to say.

I've been able to reliably pull freebies off the internet and at nightclubs in Taiwan where I work, as well as at home in the US. I've always been curious about P4P action though, just haven't done it much.

I have some DIA contacts now and if they don't pan out, or turn out to be subpar, I guess there's always LA Cafe. I'll post a report if anything interesting happens.
