The last few times I visited Manila, I jumped into one of those nice new yellow taxis. Both times the driver took a short cut turning off onto Airport Rd. on the way towards Ermita. There was a section with go go clubs and KTV's lining both sides of the street with women standing out in front of some of the clubs! Has any of you Manila regulars or residents checked out any of these places?

Maybe he went through the Baclaran area of clubs near carlton hotel and Roxas. Very low class venues, as a foreigner you are almost alone there, but some VERY nice girls hidden in between.

Go to the airport METERED Taxi (make sure the meter is working and do not settle for a fixed price) and ask to go to LA Cafe. I believe it's on the Malate / Ermita border.

I stayed at the Executive Plaza Hotel in Malate (behind the Hyatt) and it was a 3 minutes walk to LA Cafe.

From the airport - on a Sunday morning - it took 25 minutes and 190p (less tha $4) - I gave the driver 250p.

On the way back to the airport, it took 20 minutes on a Tuesday afternoon (The driver was unpleasant - didn't stop talking and his opinions were annoying and racial). The meter showed 120P and I gave him 140p (Less tha $3).

How do you get to LA Cafe from Manila airport hotel? I'm staying there my last night and I would like to at least visit LA Cafe on my last day, just to see what place you guys are talking about, even if I don't take a girl back to my hotel.

re taxi's: it could be worse if you were at bangkok suvarnabhumi airport.
the official airport taxis are bht3000 to pattaya where you can get other taxi/limos for no more than bht1500. this is worse because it is the "official" ones that are trying to rip you off, and rip you off big time, not just a few dollars.

i will be heading to manila on jan 1 - jan 3 from ac. probably arrive via swagmans. then take a taxi to makati.

i figured from reading the posts, cafe havana, greenbelt3 is my best bet for quality. can anyone recommend gf hotel in the us$80/night (+/-) range that is walking distance to havana? what precentage of girls at havana would be fl? are they easy to spot? how do you spot fl at nearby malls?

I generally agree but would put it a little differently on the basis of what you want.

If you want a wham-bam go-for-it experience in the bar or back at the hotel choose Bangkok.

If you prefer some level of conversation and a more GFE type experience choose Manila.

For the GFE experience I would say that Saigon is becoming a strong rival with all the gals there that want to learn english.
