Mandaluyong is just North of Makati (the huge sign with the Eagle on EDSA announces the change of municipality or you'd never notice)and ShangriLa is always overpriced. My suggestion is stay in a cheaper Hotel, then use your savings to get top quality girls at Pegasus or Miss Saigon. Without breaking the bank (stars get 10,000 Piso & up), QC has TONS of small GRO type bars where the clueless sex tourists never tread, and lots of cool places to meet nonpros (ugly guys with no game should stick to their 5 star hotels LOL) like Padi's Point.
PBurgos, LA Cafe, and maybe the EDSA Complex are about the extent of how adventurous "the Senator" and his clique ever get. By AVOIDING the clueless hordes, you will get more GFE action at lower prices too. Most the customers in QC are Asian, so if you LIKE hanging with Americans & Euros you may not feel that comfortable up thyere (though I never felt in danger at all).
Better yet, GET OUT OF MANILA!
PS GREAT report Ploughman. Nice to see a few guys in here that have the balls to explore a little bit.

A friend alerted me to Surfer's latest posts. Vintage Surfer. He boasts of being able to get his NYPD friend assist a monger with travel plans and in his next post, Solicitor Surfer relates his experiences with drugs!
Then he calls me a 'biggot'.
Yo Surfer! Turn of the 'spiggot', will ya? Or better yet, go back to the Colombia board where you belong.

Posts: 207Q: Mongering Options near Shangri-la EDSA / Mandalyuong?
I am considering a change of scenery from the usual Makati scene (a thread in which I have made several reports). One option is the Shangri-la EDSA / Mandalyuong, 1 Garden Way, Ortigas Ctr. I don't know Manila outside of Makati City.
Is it close to EDSA Complex, LA, or other mongering options?
Any mongering in walking distance?
Is the area generally pleasant, have restaurants, etc?
If people prefer to PM their responses, I will summarize - and of course report once I've been there.

OK, I found my notes, so I can do a more proper Quiapo report.
For something different to do in Manila during the afternoon, do what some of the locals do and check out a Quiapo strip club or two. This is the grotty old core downtown area, recently revitalized quite a bit thanks to Mayor Lito and the train stations. The main stretch is along CM Recto Ave. between Rizal Avenue (the pedestrianized mall) and Quezon Ave, to the east, and including some side streets. During the day this is a busy part of town, frequented by locals and with lots of street vendors (many specializing in fake diplomas).
Along Recto there are a number of "KTV" places with pictures of girls at the entrances. They range from pretty decent places to roach-infested dumps. One of my favorites is the Harem on the south side of Recto just east of the Rizal Ave. intersection. As with all the places, you get a pat down and have to leave anything with the guard that either looks like a camera (they're very concerned about cellphone cameras) or could be used as a weapon.
Usually there's a cover charge of P35-50 and a 2 drink minimum, with both drinks brought out (San Miguel or Beer Na Beer regular bottles) and costing only P35-40 or so each. So you'll be in for P130-150.
The show is reminiscent of U.S. strip clubs in the early 70s, with 1-3 girls on stage at a time dancing 2-3 songs and usually going nude on the last song, while a DJ milks applause. They're actually performing rather than just standing and wiggling like in Angeles or much of Thailand.
The place works OK as an ogling den with a lot more "showing" than in most of the country, and for a cheap price. Girls' looks range from about a 6 to a 9 or so. You'll see locals there in the afternoon, with crowds picking up toward the night.
The catch? There had to be one. You'll have to keep saying no to lady drinks, especially at first and especially if you're a foreigner. They will try to bring over dancers or (a favorite trick), the girl who just danced nude on the stage will go over to you and give you a sort of lap dance. It'll take about 5 seconds for a waiter to appear with a popped beer for the girl and a ticket for you to sign. You have to be polite but firm upfront that you don't want to do that (don't worry, they're used to re-capping the beer botts).
If you do want the girl's company the drink will run P220-260, which isn't too bad. Most places also have an informal rule that you can't sit right by the stage if you're not buying lady drinks, but usually you can see fine even if not by the stage.
Most places also have an on-premises short-time option, though it seemed a little rich for me at P1,500-2,500 total, so I didn't do any in-depth research. You definitely have to bargain, and it's very important not to assume anything that you don't spell out. The girls are generally not used to going with foreigners.
Another place I generally like is the Phenomenal, which is along the west side of Quezon Blvd. just south of the Recto intersection. Lots of space and a good setup, and usually they'll get the message if you just want to watch the show...eventually. But there's another place across Quezon Blvd., the former Phenomenal 2, that got new management and has really gone downhill. Other places are really hit and miss.
It's easy to get to the area from Ermita, as the Taft LRT-1 goes up to Doroteo Jose station, which is just north of Recto Ave. The LRT-3 terminus (going out to Q.C.) is also there.
Overall I think the better places might have a useful niche as affordable ogling dens, doing what the locals do. More possibilities exist beyond that and many plces stay open until the wee hours of the morning and do most business at night, but if I'm there, I'm there in the afternoons. Also take note that the LRTs stop running around 8:30. Taxis are pretty impossible to get around rush hour, but start becoming available again later into the night.
EDITOR'S NOTE: I certainly hope that the author or somebody else will post a link to this report in the Reports of Distinction thread.

Very entertaining read. IMHO, the farther you get from Manila the better. Girls are nicer, costs are lower, people are more honest. Metro Manila is the WORST part of the PI for SO many things, including finding GFE. I am now preparing for my return trip and have joined a dating site where I get a good number of emails. But ANYBODY from Metro Manila, including Alabang, Paranaque, Las Pinas, Bulacan, Tagaytay etc is immediately eliminated (I won't even respond to the cute ones from MM who write me). More richer foreigners=suplada babae! Even remote areas of Northern Luzon are inferior to the REALLY fertile hunting grounds in Visayas and Mindanao.
Never saw Thai stick in the PI (or ANYWHERE since the 80s!). In fact, only good smoke I EVER found in PI was hash in Sagada (VERY easy to find up there, and it is the most interesting area of all Luzon). Ditto for weed quality in Thailand and Cambodia. Brasil & Colombia too ): Once you've tried California or BC grown smoke, the rest is subpar.
CanContrib certainly has his finger on the CURRENT PI pulse MUCH more than I, but in the 90s getting caught with ganja cost no more than 1,000 Piso (INCLUDING at the airport leaving on domestic flights). I would never touch Shabu, but I sure saw lots of people using it fairly openly with scant concern about problems with the PNP.
With enough Piso, you can buy your way out of just about anything in the PI (look at Romeo Jalosjos or Robin Padilla!). MAYBE Gloria's "morals" campaign, hypocritical as it is, has changed things (but I doubt it).
Don: GET OVER YOUR OBSESSION WITH ME. You seem to have gotten over your wife leaving you last year, so there is no reason you cannot get over me calling you a biggot soon after that (when you posted something racist in the Colombia folder). I DO note that after my last post with pictures you FINALLY posted your own pictures FOR THE FIRST TIME. Nice girl, although the quality of photography was soso.
Re my pics from the Westin, my issue was never you staying in 5 star hotels (only stayed there because I got a REALLY cheap rate from Asiatravel.com).
My issue was a 60 YO man acting like a 16YO and trying to brag about "banging several per day" or some such nonsense. Maybe, with Viagra, you can do three girls a day, but the fact you try and brag about the number merely reveleals your inexperience as a monger (and immaturity). Any EXPERIENCED monger knows that quality, not quantity, is the thing to be proud of.Last edited by Surfer; 06-14-06 at 23:06. Reason: Add Info

Posts: 102What is the pricing for the L.A. Cafe girls now?
Am soon to be off on the biannual trip and just wanted to see what the proper costs for L.A. Cafe are. I'm not a hopeless cheap Charlie but certainly can't pay the Makati prices, and the EDSA ones would need to have me really smitten at that level.
For L.A. Cafe last time I was generally giving P1,000 ST and up to P1,500 for LT if it was my idea (less if the girl mostly just wanted a place to sleep). Got a really good 4-day keeper that I paid at P1,200 per LT, plus any meals and small extras (didn't complain about eating at McDonald's as long as she could get some of their McRice).
Usually I'll be on multi-country 2-monthers and in better shape on time than money, so I have to be a bit more value-conscious than back when I'd have the frenzied 2-week holidays and have to seize-the-day with those.

Posts: 102Quiapo strip clubs as a daytime diversion
Anybody else try the Quiapo strip clubs for cheap entertainment during the day?
These are places along C.M. Recto Ave. and vicinity between Rizal Ave. and Quezon Ave. Kind of a grotty part of town, but not too hard to reach from Ermita if you take the Taft LRT to the D. Jose station.
If memory serves, admission is P50 or so, you get patted down and they won't let you take much in with you at all (you have to leave any valuables with security), and you have to get two beers at around P40 each. Very cheap on customer drinks.
Best of all is that the stage operates a lot like a U.S. strip club, in that you have one of 2 dancers for 2 or 3-song sets and they usually get nude by the end of it.
Biggest downside, especially for an obvious foreigner, is deflecting the buy-me-drink bit. A favorite trick is for the girl to run nude off the stage and plop into your lap. In no time flat there's a guy with a P220 or so drink ticket for you to sign, so you have to be polite but firm. In the better places they eventually get the message and leave you alone if you just want to watch. But there's an unwritten rule that you can't have a seat in a table next to the stage if not buying lady drinks.
Seems the best niche for these places is as entertainment on a slow afternoon, as they're open and usually (the times I've been) have had a few customers.
Some places also have P4P arrangements, sometimes on-premise, but I've never been quoted anything sounding reasonable. Usually P1,500 to the bar and girl wants 2,000-2,500. Some places do a "VIP room" that's more dubious.
My favorite places include the Harem on C.M. Recto and a large-size place whose name starts with a P (Pandemonium?) on Quezon Ave. on the west side, just south of the Recto intersection.

As for "takeout" in Las Pinas, I have never to this point done so and my best guess is that unless you have way too much money to burn then neither will "you" (whoever reads this). Certainly not impossible, but just not worth the bother and expense, at least in the vidoke bars. Maybe there are alternatives but if there are they're a lot easier to find everywhere else than Las Pinas, and Alabang is a step up in cost-expectations. All that's not just my opinion; what I don't experience I trust my male "relatives" to tell me and so far our info jives.
Maybe we're all clueless, and if so maybe someone will post some worthwhile reasonable-cost bar "take-out" experiences in Las Pinas and Alabang. To me Las PInas is a place I go to meet up with my wife's male relatives and then we go somewhere ELSE for some fun. Yeah there are lots of cute girls in Las Pinas, but I've never ever taken one out (from some "establishment"). I have however seen my relatives drop 10,000 pesos for us to drink beer and sing in Las Pinas, and then next time we go one of many places elsewhere, spend a lot less and we all get laid. Sing in Las Pinas if that's one's desire. Get laid for a LOT less everywhere else.

First off, there may be some drug references in this next report. Not trying to antagonize anyone, just letting everyone know so that if they are offended by drugs, they can just skip reading the report.
So, my buddy scored me some Thai, and I decided to take him out to celebrate. We're about the same age with the same addiction to girls and smoke, except that I live in Makati and he lives in Alabang. He doesn't go to the Alabang bars as much as I go to EDSA and Burgos, but he's been to most bars in his area at least once, and I have never been to a single one, so he is the expert on this field trip (makes a nice change).
First stop was the Cowboy Grill. He was meeting a blind date, and she was bringing her friend for me. Not something either of us typically do, but the circumstances were set for it to happen and we were starting early, so there was nothing to lose except a round of cheap drinks. The Cowboy Grill is supposedly THE place in the area to pick up working girls and regular girls LATE, but we were there early. Anyway, his girl was OK, and mine was butt ugly, so after some lame excuse, we got the hell out of there.
The main drag in the area is Alabang Zapote Road. I don't know the local name (if there is one), but thats what my nav. showed it as. It runs from Alabang through Las Pinas and is dotted with about 25 or so Kareoke bars. If you are coming from Makati, just take EDSA and exit at Filinvest. Down Filinvest, Left on Commerce, and Right on Alabang Zapote (you would turn left to go into the main entrance for Ayala Alabang subdivision, right to go down Alaban Zapote). So you can just tell a taxi driver to take you to Ayala Alabang, and then just have him go right instead of left at the main entrance. Also, if coming from Makati, make sure you take the SKYWAY. Most cabs will want to take the regular 85 peso toll road, but for an extra 30 pesos, you can avoid traffic about half of the way. If you go late, you can be there in 25 minutes.
Unfortunately, there is no solution to the universal mystery about Kareoke bars - which bars really are Kareoke bars, which are lady houses (take out bars) and which ones are somewhere in between. To make matters worse, bars continuously change, and it can depend on you, the girl, and the mamasan. So we lit one up in the car, and started at one he had never been to before, Don't Tell Mama bar.
OK, so this place was weird. You walk in and there about 15 girls off to the side, there was a hokey stage, and bunch of cheap plastic tables and chairs. Occasionally, a girl with a ok voice would go up and sing a lame Kareoke song. Now, why would anyone want to come to a place like this? First, gogo bars are not accepted in this area, but there are a lot of well to do foreigners that live here and need to get some action, and Kareoke bars are the only establishments that can get a license. The clientelle is mostly Asian, with the occasional foreigner. The girls were similar in quality to what you would get in Makati, but did appear to be smiling a lot more and generally happier with their job. We asked if there was a barfine, and were told 2,500. We each picked out a girl, although mine appeared to be upset that I had picked here (I assume she only likes Asians, but it could be any reason) and says something to the mamasan. After the girls sit down, the mama comes up to us and says that the girls are not available for bar fine tonight. I think it was because the girls have much more of an option here to reject non jap/koreans/chinese, and they see so few westerners, that they let the mamasan know before hand if they are OK with a barfine. Anyway, because I have so much experiance with Jap only girls from EDSA (particularly the Cotton Club), and I often get them to change their mind, I had no problem with this. In fact, I actually like being able to get a chance to talk to one for the challange. One of my favorite types of girl is someone that has never had a westerner before. The look on their face when see (or just feel) the size of my dick, well, lets just say that it's a Kodak moment. Not that I am large, but compared to a Jap, I am Godzilla (no offence to Japanese intended).
So my girl is basically blowing me off. We talk about going to the VIP room, but I am told in nice way, no way. But this cute little jap only thing is really turning me on. So I keep at, trying to let her know that I am a nice guy (yeah right). My friend than tells me that I am wasting my time, that she is not worth it. He can take me to several bars where the girls will be all over me. But I say that I am not interested, I like this one, she is so nice. Now, Filipinas have pretty much the same buttons that you need to push. If you can convince them that you really like them, and always act the gentleman, they will often begin to like you, even if they give you the cold shoulder at first. Either it was that, or she wanted to prove to my friend that she was "worth it", but she immediately changed. Smiling, talking to me, and even saying that she was ok with the VIP, if we all went there together. Within another 10 minutes, she was OK with just me and her. At this point, I was pretty much set with hanging with the girl and seeing where we end up. I am about 60/40 with these types of girls on the first night, moving up to maybe 80/20 on the second "date" if I don't score on the first. I like the challange, but my friend, who was the guide this night, felt that I should forget it. And since I did want to see some more bars, we left. But the girl asked for my number before we left, and I have a text from her.
Off to Bora Bora bar, another bar he hadn't been to before. Since being with someone else is a good opportunity to check out new places, we weren't quite ready to go the "sure thing" bars yet.
Bora Bora was interesting. A real cozy atmosphere inside with lots of couches and REALLY CUTE girls. Some of the nicest girls I had seen anywhere. My buddy immediately asks the mamasan if there was a barfine, and she said "oh no". He then says lets bail. Again, I wanted to stay around and see if I could get a get to know a cute one and arrange something, but he said "too much work", so we were out of there.
Next stop was one of the sure thing bars, aptly called Safety Zone bar. Small bar with about 3 couches, 10 or so girls, and the requisite KTV for apparently legal reasons. The barfine here was 3,000, but it includes the girls fee, so no tip needed. In fact, this would be considered a lady house (or boarding house) in Makati. Again the quality of girls was in the 7 to 8.5 range, but the personality of the girls out here did seam nicer in general to EDSA and Burgos girls. I found a cute one - tight little body, nice personality - and I was good to go. So we headed back to Cowboy Grill where he was meeting the same girl from earlier (long story, and not particularly intersting). I really like the way my girl treated me the whole night. From always poring the drinks, cleaning utensils, feeding me my pizza so I wouldn't get my hands dirty, and quickly reaching for her lighter (she doesn't smoke) when I go for a cigarette. Try getting that service from a EDSA girl!
So later we head to the local short time hotel in the area, Eurotell, also on Alabang Zapote. We put them in a room together, while we go and light one up in the other room. We then all hang out for while, and then we split to our separate rooms for some fun. All in all, a great night and a great girl. I even gave her 1,000 P tip, and she appeared surprised, but I am so used to tipping the girl that I felt uncomfortable in not doing so. I would like to have seen some of the other bars my friend told me about, but once you have found the right girl, why bother. There is always next time.
