Just to flush out bad times, I went to EDSA cotton club. Got drunk and was handed over a inflated bill. Paid anyways, Barfined a girl, took her to hotel and in the morning, all my money gone in the purse. Complained to the mamasan, promised heaven, delivered nothing. Firstly, thanks for at least taking time to write a report. It's important to read about the negatives as well as the positives on this forum. But don't take this the wrong way, you had LOTS of negatives.

Some of them I think could have been avoided with a bit more common sense (for example, paying up front for the condo, leaving valuables in your room etc) but others left me scratching my head. On the one hand you knew you were overcharged in EDSA and yet you paid anyway (?). Is that the same person who was emboldened enough to return next day to complain to the mamasan about the girl?

I've seen you a few times on this site and it seems you have lots of negative experiences. It can't just be bad luck. Maybe you need to analyse things subjectively. Maybe it's the way you dress? The way you speak to people? The way you try to resolve issues? Maybe it's the way you act or the way you flash the cash? When I've been mongering I've seen people acting in such a way they may as well have 'beginner' stamped on their forehead. Girls will always try it on with those types. I'm not being judgemental, I just assume there's more to this than meets the eye. I'm certain anyone of any race can have a great time in Philippines if their attitude / modus operandi is good.

Good to hear you had at least some good experiences though.

Here is my Manila Trip report. Hope it would be useful.

My Cebu trip did not go well as planned [read the report in Cebu Thread], So I moved to Manila and the nightmare began. I don't know what changed in these nine months, everyone seems to have become a zombie or I changed my perception and became a zombie myself.

Nightmare No. 1.

It's like reading a textbook."Every Mistake a New Idiot Should Maketh Not." A year ago some gent wrote in with a similar analysis of Phils, but at least he was a newb.

Good times no. 1.

Dated an Iranian girl who is doing dentistry course. She was not cheap and paid for her own drinks, even when insisted and was decent and she itself said she don't date Filipinos as they are cheap. I knew what she meant. Free-loaders.

Dated a Swedish girl but was 30+ and kinda felt like a left over from you guys in the west. Hahaha. She had loads of money it seems but was kinda overused left over no body wants me so lets find an Indian guy type of deal.

My Cebu trip did not go well as planned

Yikes, Starchild, sorry to hear of your trip was not so good. By comparison I spent last month visiting Manila (Makati and Malate twice) , Ho Chi Minh City (working) , Kuala Lumpur, Angeles City and Cebu. Here is my report, guys. I don't have time to segregate into their respective threads so, relax, thread Nazis.

Malate: MBC, Amazonia and Butterfly Bar continue to be hit and miss with an occasional jewel. Found one with 36E cups in Amazonia who sucked like a hoover although she was certainly overweight. Did two DIAs girls there: one was great and the other not so.

Makati: the Burgos girls have gotten even greedier IMO. I barfined one from Ivory Club who although cute was not a good service provider. Small sample, for sure, but I may opt to pass on Burgos in the future for AC and Cebu, where the girls are friendlier and cheaper, IMO. I've yet to go to Havana Cafe, tho, because I'm generally not a late night guy.

AC: lots of cuties and quite inexpensive. Met a DIA girl there, too, who was terrific. They are delighted with 500 or 1000P and appreciate it if you take them out for breakfast or dinner. I've just read Starchild's post with, not disbelief exactly, but a growing sense of amazement at his naivete. I've lived here now for almost ten years, rented a couple of houses, interacted with government agencies at all levels, and have never come close to the same sorts of negative experiences. Yes, this is a corrupt place and I've no doubt that he was telling the truth, but a little prudence and common sense goes a long way toward immunizing yourself from the most common scams. In the case of the apartment for example, would it not have been simply smarter to have gotten a recommendation for a reputable real estate agent from a longer term expatriate? That's what I did and I've never come close to being scammed. As far as the lady who made off with his cash, how many warnings have been posted on this site alone about locking up all valuables before allowing anyone you don't know into your room? It's a simple precaution and I would have thought that anyone who is not a complete newbie would have exercised it.

As to the "ghetto" mentality of the women, what the hell did he expect? This is a poor country. People struggle to subsist. Where could these girls possibly have acquired the Polish, the knowlege and the savoir faire normally associated with people who have grown up in more affluent surroundings? I agree with WR in that I don't know what this should provide a basis for scorn. The fact is, if you want to catch more sophisticated women, you need to fish in a different sort of pond. Most richer, more well educated women don't hang out on DIA hoping to become the sexual playthings of foreigners with overstuffed wallets.

I repeat a contention that I've asserted many times previously: it's possible to create a nice life here, and to do so to a standard that may not be affordable in one's home country. But to do this, you need to utilize common sense, and prudence, and you need to lose some of the arrogance and take the time to cultivate local relationships with people who can help you avoid the more common pitfalls.

Most of the girls as in Cebu I met were from Ghetto in cupid and DIA. This time I wanted to survey where these girls really lived, I dated 20+ girls and barring few all lived in deep squatter where you would require armed guards protection at night to go there. What do you do to attract attention as I have never been asked by anyone for cash at NAIA and the new Immigration guy is super tough am told so he won't allow this, and am told has CCTV everywhere. So I would reassess what you are doing, the body language etc.
