    Sabang at X.MAS

    Hi all,

Just a brief report back about the Christmas situation in Sabang.

Arrived at the 20th. At bars were full of girls until 24th and some damn good looking ones this time too. From there on It was about 25 percent less girls in the bars until new year.

I asked several girls. Seems like every bar has a different set of rules. In some you can leave either Christmas or new year, in other you could just leave.

Anyway there was still enough despite a lot of customers if you didn't get there too late. It got really bad on New years eve. Some bars were out of girls at 9 pm.

    Venue was packed though.

Still my fav is coco lips. Its the only fun bar. Midnight to do very well but they seem to insist to play only love songs. Just too boring.

Have to say its more fun in high season on the party side but in low season you can get into any of the bars at 1 am and still get a nice selection.

    Westie,

You seem to letting your standard slip, passing off a hottie even though it is the same hotel. I understand the sweetness bit (maybe a little LOL) but I have and do chase cuties in the same hotel on occasions and generally successfully as some of the photos on the PG testify (but am not going to say which in the public forum)

She will see for you are. A monger and butterfly. And may like the fact you don't want a stable relationship but have lots of 'experience' (well that is what I was told when they agreed to meet me at a Sogo etc).

    Hotel Review. Dynast Court, CDO

dynasty court hotel. visited cdo recently. mostly the hotels in cdo (correct me if i'm wrong) are 'average' at best. a step above motel-6 in the states, but not much. nice lobbies, but there is going to be one or more items in each hotel that lets you down. for instance the room might have good wifi, but noisy aircon. or vice versa. dch is no different. a lovely lobby (see pics) lead you to think its a charming place, but once you past the pretty receptionist and see the run-down room, you realize that there is not here much above average. goodenough wrote a report a while back about the new centrio seda, which should be cdo's second high-end hotel (mallberry being the other) , but there were things lacking there, too (poor service and poor breakfast). have been to victoria court (don't bother, bottom-end) , pearlmont and philtown (average) and now dynasty court.

    pluses:

    * lovely lobby and well-dressed receptionists. the receptionists are fairly professional and competent.

    * staff is a bit vacuous at times, and other staff were sharp and quick to problem-solve.

    * deluxe room was discounted from 2500 to 1800 (free wifi and breakfast).

    * the dining room is large and attractive for catered events, and doubles as the breakfast restaurant.

    * breakfast buffet was simple, but everything was fresh and warm. pancakes, bread / toast, fresh fruit, regular and garlic rice, cereal / milk, fish, and a guy making fresh omelettes on the spot.

    * there is an attendant on every floor.

    * two short blocks to neri street and the weekend night cafe, mcdo, jollibee, a farmacy (rose) , and fruit stands.

    minuses:

    * at the get-go at reception, the girl asked if the noisy rooms were explained in the emails. no, they were not, what are you talking about?"sir, we are next to two discos. deluxe rooms are all along the street by discos. very noisy. if you want no noise, we have rooms on other side of hotel with single bed." oh, give me the noisy room with the bigger bed, as long as the wifi is strong."yes sir."

    * get into the room, sure enough i spot the two discos across the street. and no wifi signal showing on my phone. the male attendent on the floor shows me a room down the hall with good wifi, but single bed. another attendant (real hottie) comes in and asks if i want a room with large bed and strong wifi. i say yes. first attendent says there is none. hottie takes me up one floor to a larger room with good wifi. done. her english is good and she seem sharp.

    * unpack and look for electrical outlet for my electronics. none to be found. even the tv power cord is well-hidden. same male attendant comes when called, seems confused that i want an electrical outlet in the room for myself."sir, use one in comfort room." sorry kid, my laptop power cord won't reach from the main bedroom to the cr."sir, use laptop in comfort room." uh, did you really suggest that, you vacuous fella? the hottie walked in and spoke with the dimwit, walked out, and came back in with an extension cord with multiple outlets. she had the dimwit move the tv stand, and found the wall outlet and plugged it in for me, running it over near the bed nightstand. what a sweetie! i pulled out 500 in front dimwit and handed it to hottie as a tip for her help."salamat sir!" who designs hotel rooms without visible electrical outlets? hottie really is small-town, during the entire stay she had trouble looking me in the eye.

    * go out and take a stroll around the block to familiarize myself. back in the hotel i walk several floors, below and above my floor. i don't see or hear any guests. ask the hottie why the hotel seems to be empty."often like this sir. you are maybe only guest." the place seemed oddly quiet in the late afternoon. later in the evening i saw a mother / daughter come out of the elevator into the lobby and depart the hotel. the next morning there was one guest in the restaurant for breakfast. i never saw any of them or another guest after that. eerie feeling.

    * the noise across from the discos really is loud for anyone trying to sleep. i helped close one of the discos one night, so no problem. if you're a light sleeper, don't plan on staying here (normally i'm a light sleeper, but this time nothing bothered me).

    * rooms are worn (i was in several). paint is peeling, this is an older hotel.

    ===========================

the positives here outweigh the negatives (for me). nobody batted an eye to my coming / going, at any hour of the night, even with two cuties at a time. everyone was curteous and helpful (poor dimwit!) or attempted to be. the receptionist was good enough to get me the 1-hour passage back to the airport for p200. if you try hard not to expect much, dc, philtown, and pearlmont are fine.

I had a massage in one of these establishments earlier this year and it was legit (no extras). However, it was a good massage at a good price.

Excellent report Exoticspirit. For those who have never been there, Sabang has a really crappy beach so for anybody that is looking to go to Puerto Galera for beach time, White Beach offers an incredibe beach perhaps 1 km long with accomodations. Caveat though is to BYOG to White Beach. Big Apple in Sabang is a nice central location. If not happy there, a person can easily branch out from there to perhaps 40 places at all price ranges. Nice bar there with nice people and a great view.

Sabang Beach Puerto Galera Trip Report

    Getting To Sabang Beach.

I used the Swagman service which departs the Swagman hotel in Manila at 8 am. It costs 880 P plus a 50 P environmental fee you pay at the boat terminal. Swagman sells you a three ticket system. Car van portion, boat portion and terminal fee. The transit starts with their bus van which took me from the hotel to Batangas pier in about two hours. Then you go on the public banka boat with double outriggers to Puerto Galera. The Swagman bus has a lady 'conductor' and she passes you to a local rep at the boat terminal. He tells you which boat and when to boards there is plenty of hand holding service. The boat journey itself is another hour but since we just missed a boat, we had to wait for about an hour and didn't get to Sabang Beach until almost 1 pm.

The boats go out to the main Puerto Galera (PG) pier but what I needed was one that specifically docks at Sabang Beach, which would otherwise be a short trike or jeepney ride away from PG. The Sabang Beach pier is very convenient as it is right on the beach which in turn has most of the hotels and resorts. Once the boat reaches Sabang Beach, passengers are on their own to walk or fend off touts trying to get you to stay at their hotel. I was already booked at the Big Apple Dive Resort which is a 2 minute walk along the beach boardwalk.

I chose to stay at the Big Apple because they have accommodations, dive shop (since I intended to scuba dive two mornings I'm there, and the infamous Big Apple bar and restaurant where all the freelancer girls hang out. I first got booked in their non-AC fan budget room at only 500 P per night. Too bad the budget rooms did not work out. In fact, I found that their rooms are generally worn down and sometimes their toilets are not flushing well. I didn't even want to spend my first night in such a room so I got upgraded to the next level single room which is at 1000 P which was an huge improvement. There are no safety deposits in the rooms but they offer lockers with padlocks for free at a locker room near reception.

For divers like myself, it was super convenient. I can put on my wetsuit in my room and walk out to the boat going out for dives right on the beach in front of Big Apple. After dives, the dive boats anchor on the beach and I would just walk through the restaurant bar and back to my room. Food service at the Big Apple restaurant was great too. I asked to try Filipino dishes each night and the waitresses confidently made suggests which all turned out to be great, and at lower cost than the western food dishes on their printed menu. Average cost for a Filipino dish including rice was about 250 P.

It was great to have dinners, checking email with free wifi and bar socializing all to a magnificent ocean view even though the actual beach itself at Sabang is not that great. There are nicer beaches within a five minute walk with more resorts too but I wanted to be close to all the action. The beach was not important to me. When I went there, it was still low season and reps from the resorts were trying to get extra business whenever travellers were at Batangas or Sabang piers. Indeed, there were many locals who seem to be just milling about during the daytimes with not much to do due to lack of tourists.

    Street Safety.

One thing that you might find strange is that there was not one sign of any police at Sabang the entire three days I was there. That's because unlike bigger centres, Sabang Beach is small enough that there is minimal crime. Just behind the beachfront hotels and dive shops are laneways of other retail serving the locals and the six girlie bars there. There seems to be no issue on crime as Sabang is small enough to walk from end to end within a few minutes as the place is very compact and people are always there.

    How The Place Works.

The six girlie bars are now owned by Koreans and Europeans. During the high season, apparently there are quite a lot of Koreans. But during my time there, there were maybe just 1-2 Korean groups there with only several guys in each group. There were reports of the Koreans taking out all the hot girls by 7:30 or 8 pm but it wasn't the case when I was there. The bar fine is still 3000 P total with 1500 paid to the bar first and 1500 expected to be paid to the girl separately.

I decided to poke my head into each bar just to check them out and there are mostly really small places. And even at the 8 pm mark, there were lots of girls, many hot ones I might say, at each bar and with few customers. So none of the bars or other businesses were thriving right now. Even the dive shops were hurting. At an established dive shop like the Big Apple, I was their only dive client for the first day and one of two clients for the second day I was there.

The restaurant bar at Big Apple also happens to be the place to meet freelancers in town. There's another place reported with freelancers called Fast Eddie's but each time I passed by, there wasn't much happening there. At the Big Apple, there were only several girls at any one time during the evenings and not much action during the daytime. I did bump into a few of the freelancers I met at Big Apple out in the laneways and beach boardwalks during the daytime. My plan was to draw from the Big Apple first and only if nothing holds my fancy there, would I resort to the bars with their 3000 P cost.

There were several guys as guests each night at the Big Apple bar and with the several girls added in, we are not talking about a huge scene. I had some girls asking me for my mobile number but I told them the truth. I did not activate one for Philippines. They obviously wanted to be able to contact me for any potential opportunities while I was in town.

Fortunately, there were always a few freelancers at the Big Apple I would be willing to take and ended up with one girl the first night as a short time at 1000 P (she quoted 1500) and another girl for the next two nights at 1500 short time (she quoted 2000). As expected, each girl told me their story which is about how some Filipino guy left them alone having to care for their babies. One actually went on to claim that she is not a prostitute and only does this job, which she wants to get out of, for her baby. With the low season, she claims that it is very hard to do to make enough. She actually admits that her long term goal is to get a foreign guy to support her and her baby. At least she's honest even though she's probably scaring most guys away.

I do feel for these girls as there is no end in sight for them. I took this girl a second time because I was curious to see if the GFE escalates and in a way it did but not exactly what I was looking for. She became very clingy and wanted desperately to have me take her along for the rest of my Phils trip, even to Manila. As a freelancer, unlike a bar girl, she had total freedom to come with me. But since I wanted to experience Manila and AC with some new girls, taking her would not be a good thing. I will send her some photos of her which she loved posing for through our respective Yahoo emails.

There were also a few massage businesses where the girls dressed in uniforms waited outside for clients. I'm not totally sure if these were just legit massages or included extras but I think they were just for general massages. If this was the case, they were definitely hurting with no customers.

Surprisingly, there were very few mosquitoes during the few days I was down there. Maybe it was well past the season. So Sabang turned out to be a very nice first Phils destination for me. Everything I need is pretty well there at one location. Room, food, diving and girls.

Returning to Manila was pretty straight forward. At the Sabang Beach pier are tables set up where different travel businesses operate. Swagman has a table and the rep takes bookings for the return trip. My cost was 880 P again but this time with 30 P as environmental fee. I simply went to the rep a day before my departure to book my name in. Then at 9 am the next day, I paid my fare and the rep kept me updated when to board the boat. At Batangas, Swagman's pier rep whom I met on my way to Sabang escorted me to the waiting van with the original driver and lady conductor as staff to take my back to the Swagman hotel. So needless to say they all must be in communication on customers that are booked for each day.

Now the question is whether I would go again? Maybe and maybe not. I did not get to do the dive at Verde Island, which is their local marine life extravaganza dive. A minimum number of divers are required and it was very hard to get enough divers during this low season. If I return to the Philippines, I might be tempted to go back just to do this dive. Girls are there if I need them but the transit is not easy which is my only negative on Sabang. It's more than half day travel and as extending my transit to AC, it's pretty well a tiring full day transit. In my case, having to stay overnight in Manila to catch the Swagman service to Sabang at 8 am and coming back at 9 am another day plus one additional bus for the afternoon to AC which I'll report on separately.

Check out the neighboring establishment around Siesta. It is the busiest place in the evening, so definitely there is this what your looking for.

    Lucked out

    Greetings All.

Well I am disappointed to inform you all that the forces of evil prevailed and my little prospect went quiet. Maybe a quick word to the father in confession that she was having sinful thoughts about playing with OS's big thing. The crafty old bugger would have paused masturbating on the other side of the confessional for just long enough to instruct her to desist or go to hell.

So As much as I wanted to regale you all with stories of the fruits of success. In this instance those forces of darkness won for I haven't heard from her today. Just goes to show you what an evil sick perverted world it is out there.

Oh well, theres always those delectable CDO bar girls.

    OS
