Last month I met a girl who had purchased a new Cherry Mobile touch screen phone. While we were having lunch and out at SM mall her brother was constantly texting her for money. It became so annoying to her that I told her to block the calls. We looked all over the phone and I was very surprised that it did not have the block call function. Bought a new SIM card for I think P50.

So easy to get a new cell number here and start new idenity!

If was an Android phone then there are apps for text and call blocking; some also have anti-spam filters built in too. On my old Samsung droid I used to use one called "Call Control" that worked very well, was easy to use and was free.

The young man said yes, and that its 'caller reject'. He went into the phone settings and showed me how to do it. Last night I was at my neighbor's for grilled burgers. For fun I asked his daughter the same thing. She asked if I had Apple or android. I handed her the phone. She went into the phone settings and fished around for 30 seconds before she found the same thing the service provider guy showed me.

You're right, its just another example of culture clash, and failed customer service.

Ignore / block / screen / reject caller is not handled by the sim but by the operating system (OS). You using Android, Apple or something else? Just google "OS name" block screen call. I recall with Apple you'll need to download a free app - I'm still using a 3s-generation iphone with the older OS so things may have changed with later OS. Android has the capability built-in, but it differs by manufacturers.
