Bear in mind that most of the p4 p in SG has come from other countries- China, Vietnam, Phils, Russia. I don't think these countries are part of the proposed bubble. I wonder how this affects supply of talent.

Philippine girls sometimes want a "foreigner baby" who is entitled to a western country's passport. This may give them the right to live there and the child will be able to move there to work when old enough. Of course money gets sent back so she has a source of support and her old age.

Better still, the father may end up marrying her or at least agreeing to support his child. Often the baby will be left with her parents in the province while she continues to work.

There are many educated and uneducated pinays who want a baby with a white man because the child will have lighter skin and it is considered socially desirable in some parts of PI to have a foreign sperm donor. They want a foreign (white) husband, or at least get pregnant by one, so they can be seen as more beautiful and able to attract a foreigner. The girls who are only able to get a local PI guy is considered not so hot because white men don't want her. This also plays into the money angle because they see foreigners as rich and a source of money, with the baby being the hook that keeps the guy in the picture.

Frankly, I am glad to be in SG rather than my home country where the idiots have fumbled the COVID situation. I've even been fully vaccinated here whereas my friends and family back home are still waiting for their jabs.

I realize there's not much to report on in the Singapore scene as most of us can't get there, but there are plenty of other forums for discussing US politics and immigration etc.

Undocumented workers first of all pay taxes, second is they don't get benefits that Americans gets when it comes to unemployment to health insurance. .

1) some people I know in NY are unemployed and can't get unemployment insurance benefits.

2) illegal immigrants don't need health insurance for medical services in US. City / municipal Hospitals and clinics in US MUST give medical services regardless of insurance or ability to pay.

Still no Western country in the world is as generous to migrants as the US. Everybody knows that and that's why there's always a long line at the southern border with Mexico. Every migrant from ALL the countries in Central American to South America makes this trek for all the free govt handouts once they get in. Lines were smaller (although they still exist) while Trump was President, as he didn't like it and won't tolerate it.

Now that President Biden took office, the lines have grown exponentially at the southern border (no surprise there as his campaign promise for lax immigration). US tax payers will have a wonderful time paying for all of this (along with all the upcoming Biden Liberal programs). Good luck.

Yeah, most countries won't even consider a baby with any rights unless the woman actually gave birth in that Western country. Which is why some woman go to US and file for fake extended visas or just simply overstay their visas just to give birth to the baby in America. Once their birth certificate say born in USA then the baby is a USA citizen by birth and can permanently stay in US but the mother can't. Many cases of baby left in US with some relatives that are permanent in US and some mother forced to leave (while many still don't leave living as illegal immigrants and some obtain fake IDs). Baby (and mother) now entitled to all the free govt support, free health and free education. Baby grows up and now can apply for their mother, father and entire family to immigrate to US legally.

A 40 year old marrying a 70 year old may only have to put up with him for ten years or so and then it's like a guaranteed lottery win when he pegs it.

Divorce is a problem to the fairy tale because once the marriage is terminated, the government can always kick the woman back to PI if they they chose to. Green card status is no protection. Citizenship may be stripped if the marriage is deemed to have been phony in some cases. Not a fool proof solution in any case.
