There are many people who have never been to Seoul or other countries for that matter who read the appropriate boards (with all the codes, as you put it) and survived.

I concur. I've mongered mainly in Asia, and prior to going to any location (old or new) ISG and USASG are there on the top of my list of research websites (i.e. travel advisories, hotel bargains, local newspapers online).

Previously, I hardly post, since I can just read the forum, find the places, and enjoy myself thoroughly. Now, I felt that I should contribute...

To new members: I recommend that unless you have specific question for a specific post or want some clarification on a certain venue, don't bother posting. The forums contain "reports," not "messages" or "requests."

I am being nice here. Check out Bangkok forums if you want to see more harsher treatment.

I was in one of those dumb moods again today. The hunt was on and I needed my medicine. For some strange reason, I went to the Itaewon (the hill) and saw the same old faces. Miya is looking older. I've been going to Dabangs for years and never had much happen. One time, at a Gangneung bus terminal area dabang my friend and I got served by two very young and extremely ugly girls. After our coffee they begged us to go to a video room with them but we had to catch the bus to Seoul plus they were disgusting. Not sure what they had planned for us.

Once in Seoul, an ajuma at a dabang seemed to really be interested in hooking up with me. She told me that she was a hostess bar owner by night and gave me her phone number and told me to come by her bar. I think I was getting some at the time so I never followed up on it.

Why do I keep going back? I just like the old Korean feel on a cold winter day, and the mystery and the small chance that something might happen. Plus the "chilk chup" or arrowroot tea and puree is really good and good for you when you are hungover as a rat's arse. I also found that the smaller the town, the better looking and younger the women are. Seoul's dabangs seem to be all 40 something ajumas. So it is possible to get a really nice looking, good bodied young lady to sit with you for a while.

Here's my advice: Never be scared to ask the women in a dabang, "Hey, do you know where I can meet a lady?" They'll either help you or they won't but they won't be offended. Also, remember that most dabangs close around 8 p.m. I think, so lots of the ladies in them are off to work somewhere else afterwards. Pursue that. Ask them what they are doing after work. If they want your money or companionship they'll let you know.

I'm sure there will be some other good tips on dabangs and the whole "ticketing" system I have long heard of but never seen. I look forward to some enlightening stories too.

I've been to Seoul several times, but have yet to experience the Ta-Bang scene. I've been to several Ta-Bangs in Ga-Ri-Bong-dong area, but nothing happened. It seemed like regular coffee shops. I was expecting hot mamasan or girls to have a drink with me with some sexual favors here and there. I was also expecting the place to be kinda partitioned for some privacy, but the places I went to were too much open. Did I go to wrong Ta-Bang? I thought all Ta-Bangs give u sexual services.
