You're comparing sand and snow and arguing since snow costs a premium in the desert, sand should also cost a premium in the desert too. Not only that, you then travel to a snowy place and insist since you're not used to getting snow at regular snowy-place prices, it must be mentally ok for you to pay desert prices for snow, even though you're already standing in 10 feet of snow in the snowy place.

Now, the local snow vendors have seen this and are thinking 'fuck me silly, it's Christmas in February! And they flock to sell you the same snow other locals buy at half price, but for you they'll give you a special deal of DOUBLE PRICE.

Not only that, they sell you the worst kind of snow, the kind that looks ok, but only lasts 30 mins once you open the packaging. Essentially the snow nobody wants. While locals get the kind of snow that not only looks better but tastes better and lasts longer, for half the price you're paying for your shitty snow.

Even worse, the locals aren't even giving you local snow! They're importing shitty snow from an even snowier place for pennies, and are then selling you that shitty snow for a premium price. Other locals have caught on, and have realised they can actually get better snow by going to that extremely snowy place while spending considerably less (remember, they were already spending half as much than you originally).

But to you, it doesn't matter, because you're from the desert. And desert prices are the guideline you should strictly adhere to wherever you go.
