Have any of you been asked to provide references lately?

From what I hear from Korean hobby sites, there's been waves of huge busts for Op's and hyugaetels for past month. What happens is that these OPs circulate a big database of contacts and screening info and when cops bust OPs, they take these dbs and track down Johns and get confessions out of pressuring and questionings.

For that reason, many of OPs and Hyugaetels may be reluctant to do screenings as before, but I could be wrong.

Just an observation, but I've noticed that shops no longer ask for references.

A few years ago I was regularly asked to provide the names of other businesses I had already visited. Presumably this was so that the new places could do a background check.

However, in the last 6 to 12 months, I have not received a single request for references. Is this just a sign of the changing times? Or maybe, true to their word, Hyugetels no longer keep any private, customer contact info on hand. Maybe there's no longer a database of customer info that they can reference.

So apparently this May and June was a major crackdown season. According to the intel sites, this crackdowns should be done by June 30th, but YMMV.

I'm also a gypo but fluent in Korean. There are lots of ads and info in Korean Opi or Yuhung / nightlife sites, but they are all in Korean language and you need to use Korean VPN to have your IP address originate from Korea. Also, many of crowd contents are not available unless you sign up to be a member with a certain member level, usually gained by daily attendance and forum participation.

There really should be a glossary for Korean hobby terms, but Opi / Officetel is the most popular venue. It's similar to AAMP in US where you make a reservation to meet a girl in an apartment / officetel. You can find hot young girls providing basic / GFE service. The downside is that it's pricy and most place will require you to give out PII or a proof of identity, then they store them in a database and pass them around. The recent busts focused around Opis because of this and many guys listed in the database was called to police office for questioning. So take your risk.

Hugaetel is like Opi but usually have foreign girls providing GFE / PSE at cheaper price. They also require your PII for screening.

Anma / is similar to AMP in US, but almost 100% of them provide FS. They have a legit massage business and often don't have screening. Girls are older and not as hot as Opi.

Gunma / is a "proper / legit" massage place. Or they claim to not provide any sexual service, but most of them do if you play your game right. But the service is not a sure thing as Anma and YMMV.

Anma, Gunma, and Kissbang is a legit business providing extras under the table, so it's mich harder to be cracked down, unless they catch you balls-deep in the girl, or if the girl confesses.

But Korean cops are not like US cop and they are not authoritative, according to what I've read in other forums. They act and speak very kindly, and offer you coffee. But make no mistake. They will gladly mislead you into confessing and will press all charges they have on you. Never admit and lawyer up if you must.

I looked through some old posts to check if this answer was there. But do you speak in Korean to them or English. I guess I'm going to have to really hit the books to get the most out of Korea. So far I've had two success and one dud with kiss bangs and Kakao massages. But I would like to explore more options. I'm going to be staying in Seoul soon. So I'm going to try an outcall. I don't know that it's impossible to book a reservation in English as I've never tried, but I think speaking Korean is a definite benefit because it proves that you understand what you've paid for and reassures the boss that you know the terms of the deal, understand the directions to the officetel, and will show up for the appointment on time and with minimal fuss.

I've never booked an outcall service before. Let me know how it goes.

My rule of thumb is always call instead of text if you want an actual response going forward as well.

I would definitely call if I weren't always surrounded by other people.

It's tough to find time to be out of earshot of my boss and coworkers during the day and my wife and family in the evenings and on weekends. It's much easier for me to send a discrete text message.

But you're right, I've always had better luck getting responses when calling. However, the rate of "Nos" I have received seems to stay high regardless of whether I call or text.

I've also noticed that places in Gangnam, Yeoksam, Seolleung, and Jamsil are particularly prone to denying service. I know that these are such popular mongering neighborhoods that they simply don't need to take on a new class of customer. With all the beautiful women on offer, I understand that they have more than enough Koreans to service. I even read in a review that Koreans often miss out on the chance to make reservations because the women get fully booked so early in the day.

It's not Dongducheon, it's Dongducheon Jungang Station. These two are different. And it's the later which comes first on the line. But yeah, it'll take you probably more than an hour depending on where you're coming from Seoul.

Main customer base were factory workers from SE Asian countries like Sri Lanka and a few black guys as well. Was at home sending out messages to see which Hyugetels would bite, when one called back. Mind you, the shop didn't reply with a text, but instead suddenly called.

This scared the hell out of me because my wife was in the living room.

Of course I hung up without answering, but he called again at which point I had to sneak out of my apartment to take the call and tell the guy that my family was home. Thankfully, I didn't get caught, but I was reminded how risky this hobby can be.

After telling him why I had texted, I learned that he was willing to do business, but that he required all customers to call. I tried to book an early reservation, but he couldn't fit me in within the hour. I would have loved to take a later appointment, but I couldn't think of a good enough excuse to get away from my wife for that particular period of time. It was too close to dinner, too unlikely that I would need to suddenly meet a friend, and too strange a period of time to "go for a walk.".
