I am new to Daegu and live near the Suseong Lake area. If anyone has any information on fine establishments in this area to visit I would appreciate. Go to the Hotels behind the Thrump Tower but, grab a few bussines card from the floor, call them tell them room number and hotel name short timers are great and in daegu they are younger. Also all the Sauna / Massage rooms in that area serve well

What is NYE? If it refers to the RLD then don't worry about Korean LE. Most will not hassle foreigners unless you give them a good reason. 80K is about the going rate and has been for years, so don't feel offended. Just be happy if, as a foreigner, you can get a hottie in the RLD. A lot can depend on your age and how well you are dressed too.

I got the feeling, though, that if you hit jagalmadang when on a slow night, and if you're white and speak korean, you won't have any trouble eventually getting what you want. And if what you want is short-time with a range of options, this is the place.

As for the cops, and I'm talking about korean cops, I'm probably just conjuring an unnecessary amount of paranoia based on apocryphal reports of cops hanging around outside the main entrances to the block and actively targeting foreigners to turn them away. My SP did confirm that cops really don't want foreigners coming in there, and she also told me that the cops often drive up and down the street in an intimidating style (not sure what that would truly accomplish, but I'm just passing it along). But logically, yeah, I'm skeptical about what kind of bust they can pull given that nobody ever verbally confirms what's going to happen. Sometimes though, when it comes to cops and foreigners in south korea, all logic goes out the window. Thanks for the update. Back in early 2006, Korean cops never stood at the entrances to the RLD in Taegu. They would only patrol in cars once in a while. Perhaps something has changed now and they're actively turning away foreigners? Even without cops at entry points it used to be tough for a white American to get any hottie in the RLD for a short time as pressure from Korean guys would force the mamasans and girls to reject foreigners. I would say I was be accepted in one of the less conspicuous RLD houses one out of every 5 visits, and only at off-peak times.

I can't speak for other cities, but in daegu there are places that call themselves anmas, and there are places that don't call themselves anmas but offer the anma experience, or something very close to it. The latter category includes places that call themselves hyugetels and skin-care or skin-maintenance specialists. In my experiences, when you go to a place that calls itself an anma, you will pay more, but you won't get more. If you can read and speak korean, even a little bit, then you can spot one of the cheaper joints. Look for a spinning pole that says "skin care" or "skin maintenance" on it in korean; if the pole also has hearts and stars on it, you can probably go in there and get soapy massage, BJ and FS (and likely a bit of AR) for about 100, 000. It's funny though, because I didn't pick up on the skin-care connection until about a month ago. It sounds stupid, but I finally thought,"there's no way this place is doing skin treatments at midnight." sure enough.

If you go to the first big intersection north of cool massage and turn right, there will be an anma on the north side of the street: Sangsang Anma. No english-language sign. Sangsang translates to "imagination" in korean. I imagined that I would try it out, but when the dude behind the counter told me that the price was 240, 000 won, he must have been imagining that I am crazy.
