One of the criteria for a hotel being safe in Sri Lanka is how they deal with your ID card or passport.

(1) The receptionist keeps the ID card for the duration of your stay.

(2) They keep a photocopy of your ID card or passport.

(3) They ask you to write down your ID card number, name and and address in the visitor's book. I usually write down a bogus address, which is possible with the old ID card.

If they introduce electronic ID cards, it will not be possible to write down a bogus address.

If none of the above three procedures is carried out, both you and the hotel management have broken the law, and it is possible that you could be arrested by LE.

This woman (A) is now 33 years old. A's father was a timber merchant, probably on a small scale. Her first sexual experience was with a boy-friend when she was 15 years old. This was "gal kapanawa" (between the legs sex). She got married to another boy-friend, a Police constable, when she was 19 years old. Her parents were totally against this marriage. They had a son. Yes, just here for a couple of weeks and fortunately as a tourist rather than a monger first and foremost. From the various posts it appears women are available through MPs but the prices I see seem largely extortionate compared to the descriptions of the women. Actually it was not STD, but for several weeks I was scared that it was. I got boils (painful round lumps) in my pubic hair area (lower belly). At first I tried several antibiotics which I got from a friendly pharmacy as I wanted to avoid going to a VD specialist. The antibiotics didn't work. I then looked up Echannelling and searched for a venereologist. When I went to see him he did a few tests and told me that I probably did not have an STD, but had folliculitis (infection of the hair roots). He referred me to a skin specialist. This guy prescribed Betadine lotion and Bactraban cream to apply. After applying this for about 10 days, everything cleared up.

The skin specialist advised me that if I have an oil massage there is a risk of getting this kind of infection. Also, a dirty towel may have been the source of the infection. I am naming the place which I think gave me the infection because other members may want to avoid it. It was the Ratne Clinic near Thummulla junction. I now generally have a lotion massage unless there is hot water available to wash off the oil. That was obviously the last time I went to Ratne Clinic.
