I Agree with you RI. Making a scene is counter productive. So I was frequenting this hotel for over an year now, called Silvikris villas in Nugegoda. It is a good place for our mongering activities. Initially, they didn't even ask for ID. Only asked me to write down the details at check-in which I used to bluff with no issue. Since last year, they started checking and keeping my ID during the stay, which I was fine with as I had gotten to know the people at the counter by then and thought they were trustworthy enough.

But since a couple of months ago, they started checking the IDs of the guests as well. And they keep it for a few minutes to "record the details" and send it to the room. Although a few of my guests were hesitant to do this, I had to assure them that this place is trustworthy and there should not be any problems.

Last week, however I brought a girl that I was seeing quite regularly to the hotel and as usual handed over my ID and her ID to the counter. The person at the counter says "its ok sir we already have the photo of miss's ID as she came last week". I was surprised by how he said it and inquired for more details. Apparently, they take a photo of all IDs of the customers and their guests and keep on their record. When asked why they have to take a photo, the guy says that it is their "management rule" and there are no exceptions for customers or guests.

The fact that these men at the counter remembered this girl from over a week ago was proof that they search these names online and on social media. These days everyone has a online presence and can be easily tracked with the correct information. It was definitely an eye opener for me. In this business, it is understood that discretion and privacy is valued above all else. And stupid management rules like this makes you paranoid and distrust everything.
