I took a short two and half day trip to Colombo on my way to Phuket. SriLankan Airlines departed and arrived on time. With my ETA in hand, immigration and customs were a breeze. While the Narcotics cell momentarily stopped me for enquiry, but after seeing my foreign passport with tourist travel documents, they welcomed and cleared me to proceed. Took PickMe mini on ride app that costed me about Rs 5000 including tolls which appears to be cheaper compared to prepaid Taxis and local taxi peddlers as there are no bus or train options directly from the airport to the City. The humidity is so high during this season that I started to sweat within minutes out of the airport.

The first two nights stayed at Hotel Morven on Galle Road as my original reservation with Granbell Hotel was cancelled by them. Morven hotel was quite nice, clean, modern, close to shops and restaurants with friendly staff. Overall, Colombo didn't disappoint me. Colombo itself is clean and beautiful city but due to conservative culture it's not open and easy compared to other SEA cities where the talent and price points are better, easier and cheaper to find. I'll repeat if I incidentally happen to transit but won't intentionally plan to visit here solely for this.
