Long-established places are probably safer than new places, also places with "Ayurvedic" cover may be safer. Liberty Plaza has been going for a long time, but does not have the ayurvedic cover.

.... has an audio recording in which the officer in charge of a district anti-vice squad is heard soliciting a bribe of Rs 400, 000 from the owner of a Kollupitiya brothel called ‘Massage Health Centre’ which he had raided. This anti-vice squad falls directly under one of the most senior officers in the police department.

The president had played the tape on Wednesday at Temple Trees during the national security meeting attended by senior officers of the armed forces and the police. The president had reportedly blasted the police.

The police team had raided this brothel on January 8 and taken into custody seven Chinese women. The brothel is run by a Chinese woman married to a Sinhalese man. The police team had produced the arrested women before the Fort magistrate who remanded them till January 20. It is learnt that the police team had solicited the bribe after the case was taken up again on this date, offering to have the seven women released after charges were brought and fines imposed.

The bribe had been paid to the police on behalf of the suspects by the husband of the Chinese woman who ran the brothel. The man, identified only as Nishantha, had used a middleman called Palitha who operates a Korean Karaoke bar called ‘Hishon Karaoke’ in Thimbirigasyaya.
