I would not put it quite so strongly but basically agree.

1. Girls in there prefer Asians, or if they don't, I don't prefer them. Many girls don't really want to look at me or talk to me. Farang surcharge can apply with attitude. I could choose very carefully for looks, still not know if the body is good or not, and get a lousy service. This is the norm for me. Being slow to decide on a girl may count against me.

2. A lot of girls with low Farang experience, and a lot of dick scared girls.

3. Girls can be looking for a rather quick money making session. The chances of a full on GFE get low. Girls have restrictions and lack skills as well.

4. Maybe an old Farang is not exciting to the modern Thermae girl. Not like the old days of part time hobby hookers. When I was 35 to 40, I used to do well in the Thermae. Long ago. So maybe age matters to these girls a lot.

5. I think you are much better off to spend same money in an MP catering strongly to Farangs (not specialising in Japanese), if you can find a girl with suitable looks. Some MPs have some. Your experience from Doki Doki for example, is going to be vastly superior on average, I reckon. May cost slightly more.

6. Speaking good Thai does not seem to be any help at all. May even be a hindrance.

The conclusion is that while Thermae can be great for some, it can be lousy for others. By all means try it once or 3 times. I have not had a girl worth repeating from there for years, for one reason or another. Some were disaster and some very ordinary or below average. So I choose to stop wasting my time there.

I prefer to look for a superior girl on Soi 4, and sometimes find one with a good attitude, often miss out if no talent available. At least I had 3 different successful repeat girls from there in last year or so (only use it occasionally). So also hit and miss (but less misses). Can get a dick scared girl from almost anywhere with freelancers, or a girl trying for a quickie.

Any girl can be exceptional compared to the average for a place, if you find the right girls. Even a BJ bar could have a hot girl, on occasion. So all types of venues are worth taking a look, more than once. Its years since I looked in Beer Garden, but should try again, just in case I am pleasantly surprised.

Seeing some of the falangs that have been in there over the past few years, I can understand why the girls turn farangs down. The oilies are handy for afternoon trysts way before the Go Go's are open for business. Oiles are not too expensive and some of the oily massage girls are attractive, but you take your chances every time you go into one of these bordellos. The girls that are made up like anime dolls won't go with westerners (usually). That varies from about 10-15%. I doubt Indian or Black guys can get laid there at all. Westerners are very scarce in there, that's why I like it.

Book the Ambassador Hotel on Soi 11 for 3 nights. It is an experience that everyone should try once while in Bkk. The prices are reasonable. Stay in the Tower building, great views of Bkk. The breakfast buffet is complete with food from India and Asia and America.

The service is ok and they change sheets and towels everyday. The pool is very large and saltwater. Exercise facilities are old but they are well maintained.

Hopefully have European style stuff for breakfast as well. I am not into American breakfast at all. Indian, I would not know what they have for breakfast. Looked it up and I think not. I hardly ever take a Hotel Breakfast in Thailand any more. Only if was a good Hotel (with large variety) and included in basic price or very reasonably priced. Grand Mercure Soi 19 was example of a small Breakfast room but very good breakfast quality and variety.

Interesting view. I thought no one stayed at the Ambassador any more. Although rated 4 stars, price is low 1. 5 K for a good reason I guess. It looks to be very good value at that price. Any ideas why it has not been popular? Is it noisy?

I have stayed in Ambassor but approx. 1978. I think a lot of redevelopment changes since then

I used to stay at Admiral Premier as a good price and convenient, till they started having a lot of Chinese tours in there causing it to be full a lot. Quite a few Japanese guys stayed there permanently. I don't think it is great value any more.

The reason I suggest this hotel is that it is in the center of the Bkk sex industry area. Easy walk to anywhere and plenty of bars and Discos nearby. Many average restaurants and most important the Nana BTS station close by. The overall types of people that stay in this hotel are anywhere from Europeans to Indians, Africans and many Thai business attending seminars at this hotel.

Then move to a 4 or 5 Star for the remainder of your trip. These 3 nights will let you get acquainted with the area.

Are you looking for LT, ST, bjs behind dumpsters, ladyboys, getting smashed in a GoGo bar where you can drop $200 on booze before ya know it? Can't make a rec without knowing that.

Hi there. I'm making my first trip to LOS on 11/20 and am staying 4 nights in Bangkok and 4 nights in Pattaya. What I want to spend is $60-$100 a night (for hotel) and I want to have my fun with massages and probably FLs and beer bar girls however, I'm not adverse to other types of fun. I am currently booked in an Executive Suite room at Citrus Suites on Soi 6 at $75 a night and the Adelphi Pattaya for slightly less than that. You will get a lot of advice and seeing what's being said, I think its important that you get good advice. Here is some real advice from someone that stays here for months at a time, not from guys who show up now and then and consider themselves "experts". Post count doesn't make one an expert.

1. AirBnb is generally illegal in Thailand. Many of the condos have warning signs noting its illegal and folks should report it. As the last thing you ever want in Thailand is contact with any authority, AirBnb is a nogo. There are cases where its OK, but personally, I would just stick to a hotel.

2. The main "lowlife" farang mongering areas are found around Asoke, Nana and to a lesser extent Phrom Pong BTS stations as previously mentioned. And, in addition, there is an area near Silom BTS. BY "lowlife" I mean the street hookers and ladyboys wandering around, the general scruffiness of the area and the patrons, the touts, the rip offs, the beggars, the hanger ONS, the drug dealers, etc. And some of the Patrons.

3. Going Eastish on Sukhumvit like you were coming off the airport: Phrom Pong is generally massage parlours and some street hookers. It is very tourist oriented and has fancy malls. It is a less sleazy area than Nana and Asoke. But its very Japanese / Korean oriented so you do need to brush up on your Asian etiquette. Some girls may not speak English in favour of Japanese / Korean (I speak bad Japanese myself). I'm not a massage parlour guy as I prefer my women younger, better looking and cheaper so I rarely go to Phrom Pong. Some guys like massage parlours, read the massage parlour section for info on how it works, but do not pay attention to the stories about this girl being good and this good being bad because probably half is fantasy anyway. And do you want to spend hours trying to track down some girl named Porn because some dude in mommys basement says she is the best she ever had? The hotels are higher priced in this area. The food is spendy too, unless you know where you are going.

4. The BTS stations are about a klick apart. So if you AR at PP BTS, its a klick to Asoke. This is where Terminal 21 mall, Soi Cowboy and the falang / Arab areas start. There are nice hotels in this area, and sleazy ones. This is where Thermae is. Thermae is my hunting ground because I stay here in Bangkok, otherwise its a Asian sausage fest. I had a very pleasing event last night there. Other folks like Cowboy, which I consider a tourist trap. There are a couple of guys that live here (EhTombs or something like that) who know about the Cowboy scene, I myself don't go there unless I have a wierd whim.

5. The walk between Asoke and Nana is worth it. You got BJ bars, Thermae, the Beergarden, street girls, burkhas and finally Nana Plaza. The hotels in that area, absent the big chains, are generally overpriced *hitholes that are popular because they are cheap or "right near the action". Some are short time hotels too, like the Raumchitt and Miami. Some are totally Middle Eastern? Indian, that's up to you. Normally don't stay in that area and when I do, I try to stay in either one of the premium ones or at least on the even number side of the street OFF the main drag. The area is sleazy and disgusting, the street food horrendous and some of the girls frightful. There are some good eats in that area though. Guys will tell you how lovely the street girls are, I can tell you that last night at 10 pm, it was like a kennel club lineup out there. As to the gogos, everyone has their favourite, last night the girls in Anglewitch had more rolls than a deli. That was last night. The scrawny Mamasan in Rainbow whatever is a b. She might be gone tomorrow. #342 left for Roi Et. Etc. I actually bought a lady drink last night for an Instagram beauty.

I find that Agoda is the best for Asia. I always have the room rate shown in baht and use a baht account (look into Transferwise) to book. In Bangkok itself, I personally won't even look at a hotel less than $100 a night, unless I have stayed in it before (I have stayed in a place down in Ekkamai that's cheap and wondeful). I wouldn't condisider the odd numbered side of Suk between Asoke and Nana except the Westin and Nana. Keep in mind that any hotel you choose in the main tourist areas is just 100 baht ride for you to the sleaze, you can go stay down in Ploenchit, Silom or SaphanTaksin too.

We don't know what's good for you and whether 3, 4 or 5 stars. None of us can tell anything much other than by reading reviews, and allowing for personal grumpiness. I generally use booking.com, trip advisor, OYO, Whatif etc. Airbnb has the disadvantage that its possible your private booking is not honoured, based on what I read. That would be very unusual for major booking sites. Some cheap apartments are also listed on major booking sites. I got a great apartment for good price on occasion, but rarely in absolutely ideal location.

So you need to pick a starting location first. Some like to be staying not too far from Nana BTS (skytrain station), I usually prefer Asoke to Phrom Phong BTS stations region. Close to many Massage joints, Soi Cowboy bars, supermarket, skytrain, underground train also, etc.

Its possible prices can go up very close to the date, or rooms can be sold out. I book at least 1 day in advance so I am sure I have accommodation for at least tomorrow. In very old days we used to go from Hotel to Hotel looking for available rooms and checking prices. That was before internet. Ha ha.

Best to not book very far in advance unless your plans are very fixed and stabilised. Most of us want to keep options open, especially, if don't like a Hotel newly tried, to change to another one. Could be as simple as bed was too hard, or room too noisy.
